The Hidden Oracle!

HIDDEN ORACLE Final cover

Thanks to everyone who came to our launch event in Boston on Tuesday, May 3! We had a sold-out crowd and I loved hearing your questions and sharing your enthusiasm. And thanks to everyone on social media who has already responded to the new series with such love and appreciation. I’ve got the best readers in the world! It’s always a relief to me when I hear that I met your expectations in a new volume.

If you haven’t picked up your copy of The Hidden Oracle yet, it is now available anywhere books are sold in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. I’m not sure about the other markets. I don’t get that info. But if it’s not yet available where you live, I’m sure the publishers are working hard to get it into your hands as soon as possible!

And if you missed the usual “Coming in 2017” at the end of The Hidden Oracle, I did too! Here is the title of book two, which will be here next October:

Trials of Apollo BOOK 2 type cover 2P

Also the Rick Riordan website has just had a facelift. Check it out and let me know what you think!

In Islam there is a special time called Ramadan were Muslims don not eat or drink for 30 days (of course we eat and drink before sunrise and after sunset) we fast for many reasons....one of the reasons is because we want to experience what the needy and poor feel like.

Ramadhan Mubarak to you too, Nadia! And yeah, I live in Canada, so I'm also fasting in the summer. I don't fast on school days because I play a lot of sports and need lots of energy, so I only fast on weekends.

Lucky! I'm in grade 7, so for us, middle school isn't over until June 30. Luckily, though, I have a nice teacher, and she said that next week, we're just gonna wrap up whatever we're learning, and if we get all our work done on time, we (the students) get to plan out the last 2 weeks of school! We're thinking of water balloon fights, going to Wonderland (which is an enormous amusement park just outside Toronto), and mostly just chilling out and enjoying ourselves,

That sounds cool. Australia doesn't have middle school just primary (K-6) and secondary (7-12). And our holidays start on June 24 and go for two weeks. Well, they start at different times in different states which is annoying.
We have exams at the end of term. Yesterday I corrected the spelling of onomatopoeia on the English exam. Hey, if she didn't want me to correct the spelling, she shouldn't have taught me how to spell it!

Only two weeks? Wow, we have 2 months... school doesn't start again until September, so I have two whole months to read whatever books I want and watch as many movies as I want with no worries about homework! Sadly, though, I do have to worry about applying in high schools and what courses I want to take. We don't have end-of-the-year exams until high school. In grade 3, 6 and 9, we have this exam called EQAO, which just tests our abilities and what level we're at.

message 121: by Zara (new)

Zara Midhat wrote: "KittenHestia wrote: "Midhat wrote: "Pug wrote: "Only 8 more days of classes before 5 days of finals and then I am out of high school until September! But yet my Lit teacher is still stubborn on us ..."

Yeah but ours is mid-year holidays and mid-year exams. Still we only get 6 weeks end of year holidays.
In Australia all the seasons are reverse to yours so now it is winter.
EQAO sorta sounds similar to NAPLAN. NAPLAN is done in year 3, 5, 7 and 9.
Do you get any holiday homework?

Usually not, mostly just to revise waht we learned and prepare ourselves for the next grade.

message 123: by Zara (new)

Zara Last holidays we had homework for pretty much all subjects in the holidays. Even LOTE. We had to write two persuasive a for English, complete about 100 questions on Indonesia, a lot of stuff I got to go now so I will stop there.

Midhat Evelin wrote: "The sounds awesome! Picking things the you want to do for the end of the year, wish I could do that."

Lols, yeah, our teacher is pretty awesome. Problem is though, our class isn't. We have all the trouble makers in my class, people that won't shut up and keep talking and don't finish their work on time and are just so darn annoying.
What was the best school year you ever had? Mine was grade 6.

Midhat Evelin wrote: "Same most of mine class are the same. My best school year was 7 grade."

I'm in grade 7 right now, it's not the best for me, probably because of my class. Last year, my class was really good, we were all so close and no one was rude or discriminating or anything like that, we were all cool with each other and we would spend most of our time just laughing our heads off and really enjoyed our year together. Plus, our teacher was really cool... she sometimes considered herself a kid and said she was still waiting to grow up. : )

message 141: by Zara (new)

Zara My best teacher was the one who read me Percy Jackson. :) She was good because of other things too, but that was the best.

message 142: by Midhat (new)

Midhat Nadia wrote: "my class is so immature.......they make everything that comes out of someones mouth sound dirty.......and sometimes i just want to gag them to keep quiet."

Ugh, exactly!! They take the simplest things and turn them into stuff really dirty minded. half the time, I don't even get what they mean. There's a certain word they keep saying, and I literally spent the entire grade 6 year trying to figure out what was so dirty about it.

message 143: by Midhat (new)

Midhat KittenHestia wrote: "My best teacher was the one who read me Percy Jackson. :) She was good because of other things too, but that was the best."

Man, I wish any of my teachers would read us Percy Jackson, or at least make it an option for book talk groups. We read the Maze Runner this year and the Hunger Games last year, though.

message 144: by Will (new)

Will GREAT BOOK! LOVED IT!

message 145: by Emily (new)

Emily This year, freshman year was the best. We weren't the youngest as there was a middle school attached to my school. I made so many amazing friends and did things that I never thought I would do for a long time (like have a guy friend or slow dance). And I learned so much! Definitely this year was the best.

message 146: by Zara (new)

Zara My third grade teacher kept us in for about 5 minutes so she could stop reading on a cliffhanger and make us wait!!!! (The one that read the Lightning thief)

message 147: by N.E.S (new)

N.E.S when i was in 5th grade we read House of Scropian and Uprising......i kept asking my teacher if we can read Harry Potter but she always changed the subject anytime i asked.
