The Hidden Oracle!

HIDDEN ORACLE Final cover

Thanks to everyone who came to our launch event in Boston on Tuesday, May 3! We had a sold-out crowd and I loved hearing your questions and sharing your enthusiasm. And thanks to everyone on social media who has already responded to the new series with such love and appreciation. I’ve got the best readers in the world! It’s always a relief to me when I hear that I met your expectations in a new volume.

If you haven’t picked up your copy of The Hidden Oracle yet, it is now available anywhere books are sold in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. I’m not sure about the other markets. I don’t get that info. But if it’s not yet available where you live, I’m sure the publishers are working hard to get it into your hands as soon as possible!

And if you missed the usual “Coming in 2017” at the end of The Hidden Oracle, I did too! Here is the title of book two, which will be here next October:

Trials of Apollo BOOK 2 type cover 2P

Also the Rick Riordan website has just had a facelift. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Rafsan Rehan the hidden oracle is cool, but i cant wait for the new magnus chase book.

message 52: by Evelin (new)

Evelin My favorite book of the HoH was the Mark of Athena and The House of Hades because, it had Percy and Annabeth all but the Blood of Olympus was a little bit of disappointment.

message 53: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Liang I just didn't like Magnus Chase as much as I was obsessed with the PJO and HOH series. But, to normal (non fanatic readers) I probably like the book very much.

message 54: by Emily (new)

Emily Mark of Athena was my fav book in the HoO series.

Leo and Nico are my kings!!!!!!

I actually liked getting new perspectives in BoO. I thought it was interesting to hear from an old favorite from PJ- Nico- whose perspective was actually quite interesting to read. We also got a new perspective from Reyna which I found fascinating b/c I was interested in her past.

message 55: by Evelin (last edited May 26, 2016 05:56PM) (new)

Evelin Yeah, I was also interested in Reyna 's past. And reading from Nico's perspective was fun.

message 56: by Zara (new)

Zara Definitely Nico and Reyna's POVs were great.

I wasn't sure about Magnus but I liked him by the end of the book. Also I think the first book in a series with new characters is never the best.
When I started reading Heroes of Olympus after Percy Jackson I was a bit bored. Now I am completely fanatic. But I think it was just because he started with Jason. I've never liked Jason that much.

message 58: by Evelin (new)

Evelin True I never really like Jason the much but he okay.

Haha, I wish for me. I just finished it....at 5am this morning. I didn't know it was going to come out next year until just now.

I hated that too. I felt like with all he has been through, he should have had a point of view. Maybe instead of Jason.....Also, MINOR SPOILER....(I warned you.) Percy's story doesn't end in BoO. He is in other books.......*cough* ToA.......

message 61: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine I am very confused. On the cover it said it's coming May 2, 2017. Rick said it is coming next October. Which one is correct?

I totally get what you're saying. Honestly, for me, Blood of Olympus was a bit of a let down, since I feel like Percy and Annabeth weren't really that important in the plot of the whole story (well besides the whole Gaea thing...). Even though there are new characters, I feel like the original characters like Percy and Annabeth should never really fade away into the background because fans who have read PJO will still want to see them being active in more series."

No, BoO was just badly written- plain and simple. Not only did Percy not have a viewpoint, which I honestly couldn't care less about, but there were so many plot holes, the characters were extremely out of character, especially Nico who is beyond saving, and it was short, boring, predictable, and lacked the wit and intelligent humor all the other books had.
Truthfully, I do not reccomend you read BoO. just read the summary and skip to THO, which is so much better.

Yeah, there was so much hype about Gaea. She either was too weak to fight, or didn't live up to the hype.

Evelin True.

message 69: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine BEFORE YOU READ THIS: I still love the book series to pieces. Once again, these are some questions that left me wondering, but that does not affect my love for the book. If anyone reading this is offended or mad at my questions, I am truly sorry. This is just what was going through my mind as I was reading the BoO and the Hidden Oracle. Rick Riordan, if you are reading this, I STILL LOVE YOUR BOOKS! YOU'RE STILL MY FAVORITE AUTHOR! Now, on with the comment.

There wasn't any mentioning about how new demigods have dyslexia and ADHD. Shouldn't she (Meg) have at least one of those? Wouldn't the seven in HoO have to deal with that also? Does it go away when you become older? Is that just a Greek thing? What about Percy's empathy link with Grover. Is that still a thing? Did I forget about something that happened in HoO? Whatever happened to Frank and Hazel in BoO? They didn't have that much of a prominent being in that book. How is Frank doing with becoming a praetor? Why wasn't anything Percy was eating (If they ate that much. I can't remember.) in the BoO blue? Whatever happened to Jason's coin that flips into a sword? Why are all these questions about the BoO? Why didn't the satyrs help with defeating Gaea? What were they doing that was more important than the world they live in? These are so many questions that might go unanswered in the ToA series. Hopefully not. I love this series too much for that. END OF QUESTIONING

Wow. That is a huge comment.

Zara Jasmine wrote: a bunch of questions

I think I can answer a few of those questions

It's very possible that Meg has ADHD or/and Dyslexia but she probably wouldn't know. I hope Rick tells us.

If that's a Greek thing, assuming you mean the ADHD and Dyslexia, it's not. The Roman demigods have ADHD and/or Dyslexia too as mentioned in the Son of Neptune when Hazel said in her time kids like that were just called lazy. The only difference is Latin instead of Greek.

I'm fairly sure the empathy link is still a thing. Don the faun said he could smell a faint empathy link with a faun. It shouldn't have changed.

I'm annoyed about Frank and Hazel they barely had any storyline in BoO.

I'll might check the Percy blue food thing. I know he did have blue food sometime in the HoO series.

I dunno about the others. I think some will be answered in the next ToA book. Can't wait for that. Also can't wait for Hammer of Thor.
K I think this is even longer than Jasmine's comment so I'll finish it here.

Zara Bbbrrrr. It is the first day of Winter here. I guess it is Summer if you live in the northern hemisphere.

message 77: by Jasmine (new)

Jasmine Yes, it's 100 degrees where I live right now.

message 78: by Zara (new)

Zara That sounds hilarious to me because Australia uses Celcius and 100 degrees Celcius is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. Here it is 2.4 Celcius/36.32 Fahrenheit.

message 79: by Ollie (last edited Jun 01, 2016 03:56PM) (new)

Ollie Jacques Im always getting my books from my local library, and it does not have the trials of Apollo yet, so I still have not read the series yet

message 80: by [deleted user] (new)

So excited that I finally read the book!!!! It's wonderful!

message 81: by Ollie (new)

Ollie Jacques Are there any romans in the book?

message 82: by Emily (new)

Emily The book took place at CHB so it was mostly Greek but Romans were mentioned.

message 83: by Zara (new)

Zara I get the books online

message 84: by Zara (new)

Zara I hope there will be Romans in the next book. I think there might be.

message 85: by Evelin (new)

Evelin Yess! I want to know more about Frank and Hazel and the other roman demigods. =]

message 86: by Zara (new)

Zara Definitely. And everyone comments when I'm sleep or in class I am between classes now about to do science. There is this notification glitch on the app which is annoying so I don't get notifications unless I go in the app.

message 92: by Zara (new)

Zara I'm awful with geography I just looked up where on earth Florida is.
I hate the northern hemisphere it confuses me. The southernmost state of Australis is the closest to Antarctica and the coldest. The southern most state of the USA is hot. Even though I know why, it is still weird.

Oh yeah you have mid-year summer holidays that's weird. Australian Summer holidays start just before Christmas and go for 6 weeks. How long do your holidays go for?

The last day of school? Lucky! I still have 22 more days to go (weekends included, but if you exclude the weekends, its 16 more days). We're on our last strand of math, geometry, and we're starting debates in English on Monday, and we're wrapping up structures and forces in science soon enough.

message 97: by Zara (new)

Zara I'm about 3 weeks away from the two week winter holidays. We have mid year exams coming up but for some silly reason the exams don't affect whether we pass or fail the subject they are just practice for exams in the later years and I don't think anyone is going to take them seriously unless they are pass and fail.

It is like how in technology class if you fail you don't repeat the subject or get any real consequences you just fail on your record so most people in my class don't care if they fail.

message 100: by Emily (new)

Emily Only 8 more days of classes before 5 days of finals and then I am out of high school until September! But yet my Lit teacher is still stubborn on us reading The Aeneid (which we have barely started) and my History class has begun a book too. I hate the thought of beginning these books but not being able to finish them.
