The Hidden Oracle!

HIDDEN ORACLE Final cover

Thanks to everyone who came to our launch event in Boston on Tuesday, May 3! We had a sold-out crowd and I loved hearing your questions and sharing your enthusiasm. And thanks to everyone on social media who has already responded to the new series with such love and appreciation. I’ve got the best readers in the world! It’s always a relief to me when I hear that I met your expectations in a new volume.

If you haven’t picked up your copy of The Hidden Oracle yet, it is now available anywhere books are sold in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. I’m not sure about the other markets. I don’t get that info. But if it’s not yet available where you live, I’m sure the publishers are working hard to get it into your hands as soon as possible!

And if you missed the usual “Coming in 2017” at the end of The Hidden Oracle, I did too! Here is the title of book two, which will be here next October:

Trials of Apollo BOOK 2 type cover 2P

Also the Rick Riordan website has just had a facelift. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Zara

message 556: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She Well it seems like only 4 of us didn't start at school yet. But The time is pretty different too. When I post a comment here many of you are at school or asleep. It Is morning when I post. 8:49

message 557: by Zara (new)

Zara Right now it is 4:58pm where I am. I guess your what, 9 hours behind me? I do like how in Australia we get the day before nearly everyone else though. That's cool.

message 558: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She It Is pretty cool. I Think 8 hour.

message 559: by Zara (new)

Zara Do you guys have daylight savings where you live?

message 560: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She I am not sure. If you mean saving electricity when it is daylight only in summer and not in winter.

message 561: by Zara (new)

Zara Daylight savings is when in summer all the clocks go forward an hour so that it is sunnier later in the day. It is STUPID.

message 562: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She Yep. We call it summer tme and Winter time :P
I am sorry about not understanding but English is not my first Language.

message 563: by Zara (new)

Zara Yeah I know but you actually speak better English than some of my classmates do.

message 564: by Zara (new)

Zara Probably because they don't read. Reading definitely helps.

message 565: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She Yeah I know I became better because of reading. And Someone of my friend started to read English books because of that but I am doing that because it is my hobby and the English books are much better than the translated once.

message 566: by Zara (new)

Zara Originals are the best in most cases. For everything.

message 567: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She And I can't agree more. If turns out I was stupid to read many book translated, but that is because I didn't read so much books before.

message 568: by Zara (new)

Zara Well, you would have to read the translated versions if you didn't know the language of the originals I guess.

message 569: by Zara (new)

Zara I guess that is why they try to make books into movies; to translate them into a format people are more familiar with or prefer. Sometimes the translations work and other times- not so much.

Kang Ying She KittenHestia wrote: "I guess that is why they try to make books into movies; to translate them into a format people are more familiar with or prefer. Sometimes the translations work and other times- not so much."

And I think many like in my age prefer movies than books. I Actually liked the books of Percy Jackson when I started reading it. But It turns out it is actually better in the originals.

message 575: by Kang Ying (new)

Kang Ying She It Is actually 7:21 on I think

message 576: by Evelin (new)

Evelin Like Kitten said somethings are better when there the original thing.

Zara Evelin wrote: "I am guessing the both of you are sleeping right now."

When you posted that it was 3:11am where I am.

message 591: by Zara (new)

Zara With what I was saying about how originals are always best I was just thinking how that isn't just with books. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the best TV show ever created in the history of human existence, but in the movie version they changed Joss Whedon's original script and made it just a comedy instead of comedy horror. Then they used his original ideas in the TV series and it was AWESOME.

message 592: by Emily (new)

Emily Hmm... maybe if they stuck to Rick Riordan's original story than the movies wouldn't have been as big of a FLOP in the PJO fandom.

Don't get me wrong, the movies are cute in their own way (mostly in Logan Lerman's general awesomeness), it's just not Percy Jackson. Maybe if they restarted it and turned it into a mini-series.... but then again my friend that is a HUGE fan of the Mortal Instruments told me that when they recently revamped it into a TV series that they did almost a worse job than what they did with the movie. So I will just patiently wait and see if the PJO/HOO will finally be given the good movie that they deserve.

I heard that CW has a budget for one and a half seasons of a Percy Jackson Tv show. They also have a 10 year contract already made with the cast of they decide to make the show.

That would be so cool. Maybe. It depends again on how much they keep of the original.

It makes more sense to turn a book into a tv series in my opinion because the story in the book is often too long for a movie. I mean, you wouldn't usually finish a novel in 100 minutes. Also I just personally prefer tv series to movies.

message 596: by Zara (new)

Zara Did you hear that they are making divergent into a tv series? My friends were all saying how bad it was going to be. Especially since the actors who play tris and four said they won't do a series so they would have to get new actors.

Also I have never read divergent and only see the first movie I didn't like it much it looked kinda boring.

message 597: by Val (new)

Val Hdz I liked the books.

I never read the books, but I saw the movies. I would watch the pilot first just to see if it's good or not.

message 599: by Zara (new)

Zara I might actually start watching it if it becomes a TV series because like I said before I much prefer tv series to movies.

message 600: by Zara (new)

Zara But I probably won't get the chance to watch it anyway because I already watch too much tv.

I watch Angel, Star Trek:Voyager and Buffy and I am hoping to watch Veronica Mars, Firefly, Star Trek: Next Gen, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, and probably some others I am forgetting. And when they come out: Supergirl and Doctor Who. Plus I have to show my brother Charmed.

It's a wonder I ever get my homework done. Speaking of that, I should move my phone away from my desk so I stop getting distracted from my maths homework.
