Last night's Game of Thrones

Here is James Hibberd’s recap of last night’s episode of Game of Thrones. He always has a few laugh-out-loud quips in these recaps, and this is no exception. I confess I had a “I’m done” moment last night, and I am sure I had a lot of company. But I can’t abandon Tyrion; also, I’ve invested five years in this series, so I will hang in there, as will most of the Thrones fans. I bet they do lose some, though. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/05/01/...

Asghar Abbas Considering Sunn in Splendour obviously served as an inspiration for GRRM, this is surreal and all kinds of weird. Yet, it makes me absurdly happy too .

Sharon I don't think it did, Asghar, as much as I'd like to believe that! I think GRRM simply used the Wars of the Roses for a jumping off spot.

Asghar Abbas Yes, obviously Wars of the Roses played a part and largely is used to base upon many of his storylines. I read his saga and then last year, I read your amazing book and I honestly believe it served as an inspiration. He must have read it at least for research. There are too many similarities. At least for me :)

Ivana I think it did. He names you as one of the historical fiction writers that inspired him and that he recommends, and when I read Sunne last year, I noticed similarities, too.

Asghar Abbas Yah :)

Sharon I was very flattered when he once posted a list on his blog of books for his fans to read while they were waiting for his next opus, for he included Lionheart on the list.

Ivana He also mentioned you in this post with a list of books he recommends: http://grrm.livejournal.com/316785.html
and he recommended Time and Chance in this 2002 post http://www.georgerrmartin.com/time-an... (which I've ust found by googling while searching for that other post).

Asghar Abbas Are all of you guys watching the Hollow Crown ?

message 9: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Ivana, thank you so much. It is lovely to know.
I think The Hollow Crown is only being shown in the UK, Asghar?

Asghar Abbas I think you are right. I think as it was done before, the series will air in the US in September. Sam Mendes is the executive producer here. Didn't know that. I wish you would hurry up with the adaptation of Flavia de Luce book series.
