A Bad Case of Book Goodness

So, I have this problem. A problem I have clearly passed down to my seven year old daughter. Here it is; Reading a great book before bed, then closing the book, then closing my eyes, then trying to stop thinking about the story long enough to fall asleep.

ARGH.

Can’t do it. Can’t turn off my brain. Can’t stop thinking about the story. I’ve used music, ocean sounds – my poor 7 year old daughter has taken to listening to another book – ON TAPE – to fall asleep. It’s madness.

Right now I’m reading Eloisa James’s WHEN BEAUTY TAMED THE BEAST, and it’s so damn good I have to stop myself in the middle of a chapter instead of a chapter ending because it’s less exciting and cliffhanger-y. (is that a word?)

What is the solution, I ask you? I can’t read the dictionary every night before bed, can I? And honestly, I’d probably find that moderately interesting too!

Ack. I guess there’s just no cure for a Bad Case of Book Goodness..

Tamara If I know I don't have time to finish the book before bed, I usually won't start it, because NO I WILL NOT BE GOING TO SLEEP. One reason I love anthologies!

Tamara you are right ~~ I read anthologies as my before bed books also. (1) they are short; meaning I can go to sleep. (2) They introduce me to great new authors. I love the Mammoth Books.
