But Brian isn't finished with her just yet, and just how far will he go to get his sexy little tourist back?

EXCERPT

Melanie Kemble took a sip of her Daiquiri and watched the Hawaiian sunset. The dramatic swirls of orange and purple clouds hypnotized her. Even after the sun melted into the water and the sky began filling with stars, the heat barely dissipated.

This was paradise. No doubt about it. Almost every item had been scratched off her To Do List. Parasailing, snorkeling, a helicopter tour, and ingesting enough alcohol to maintain a decent buzz throughout the entire trip.

There was just one item left. The one with a big honking question mark by it. A symbol in itself an admission that she wasn't sure she had the nerve to go through with it.

"Mel, you kinky broad!" a voice rang out, followed by a high‐pitched giggle. "What the hell are you doing out here alone?"

Melanie tossed back the rest of her drink before turning to face her friend. Unlike her, Piper had absolutely no problem completing that last item. It showed in the glow in her face—not to mention the sexy Greek arm candy.

"You remember Nikolos, right?" Piper clutched the bulky arm of the man next to her.

"Mmm hmm." Melanie glanced over the couple. God, they were disgustingly perfect. Piper was tall, blonde, and gorgeous. Nikolos was taller, dark and just as pretty.

Piper leaned forward, and in a bad attempt at a stage whisper asked, "You find someone to have sex with yet?"

Melanie's cheeks warmed. "Yeah, about that. I don't know if I will."

"Excuse me?" Piper's eyebrows shot up, and then she turned to Nikolos. "Baby, will you please get me another piña colada?"

He nodded and gave her an intimate smile. "Of course."

After the sexy Greek had left them alone, Piper spun back to face her. "We had a deal."

"I know." Melanie groaned and crossed her arms across her chest.

She should've known it would come to this. "And I've been thinking about it, and well, I just don't know if—"

"No," Piper interrupted. "No, no and no. We booked this vacation with two intentions. One: to have fun and get a great tan. Two: we each have a fabulous fling that we remember when we're old, shriveled, and surviving on hormone pills."

"I know," Melanie conceded. Piper had every right to be mad. They'd made a pact. A pact she was trying to weasel out of. "I just haven't seen anyone worth flinging with."

"Hello there, beautiful."

Melanie turned to appraise the beefy blond surfer who'd come up to hit on her. He was pretty cute, but probably more bronze than brains.

"Not interested, thanks."

After he'd wandered off, Piper shook her head. "You're too picky. He had a great ass."

"I saw that, but I'm looking for more than a great ass."

"For a fling? Why?"

Good Question. Melanie shrugged. When they'd made the pact, it had sounded so exciting and spontaneous. But now that she was here and actually contemplating the idea of throwing herself into bed with some stranger—

"We have two days left, Melanie. Two days for you to find some yummy guy to hook up with."

Melanie nodded, drawing her bottom lip between her teeth. What should she do? Just say screw it? That guy a minute ago would have been perfect to have a fling with. Hell, he'd been a walking sex symbol. Her gaze drifted back to the surfer who was now walking down the beach away from the resort.

"You're going to back out on me." Piper sighed. "I should have known. You're way too straight‐laced for this."

"I'm not straight‐laced," Melanie protested. Who was she trying to convince, though, Piper or herself?

Tons of people had flings. There was no reason she shouldn't do it too. Just as long as she took precautions and made sure it stayed purely sexual. Would it be so bad to let her hair down and have some fun?

"Go after the surfer, Mel. Come on, you've got to admit he was hot."

"He was a little hot." Piper was right. She needed to loosen up. This wasn't about finding a soul mate; this was about having some good vacation sex. "Okay. I'll do it. I need to lose my born again virginity anyway."

"Mel's gonna get some," Piper sang, and then squeezed her hand.

"Hurry, before he's gone."

Piper's excitement for her made Melanie's enthusiasm kick up a notch. "All right, here I go. Wait!" Melanie hesitated. "What if he says no?"

"To a cute, busty, redhead? Shut up and get going."

"You're just saying that so I'll go have sex. But its okay, I expect no less from you." Melanie grinned. "Wish me luck."

"Good luck. I'll stay with Nikolos tonight. You can have the room."

Melanie barely heard her. She was too busy running. Shit! She was actually doing it. Her blood pumped through her veins with the adrenaline rush.

"Hey," she shouted, trying to catch up with the surfer.

She emerged from the palm trees onto the sandy beach and tried to pick up her pace, but her feet kept sinking and slipping in the sand.

"Hey!" she yelled again, gaining on him.

He started to turn around. Bingo. He's mine. Her heel twisted in the sand and she yelped, flailed her arms, and fell flat on her face.

Of course. Of course I would fall. And why wouldn't I? When she looked up, the surfer had turned and walked away.

How embarrassing. What the hell had she been doing? Chasing after a surfer to convince him to have sex with her? This was a whole new low for her.

Screw the pact with Piper. The whole idea had been ridiculous anyway. She wasn't that desperate for sex.

"Are you okay?"

Oh God, someone had actually witnessed her tumble to the ground? Melanie looked up.

"I'm…" she trailed off, dazed by the man who knelt beside her. He was… "Fine."

Snippet Saturday ~ Weather

Welcome to another Snippet Saturday! Today's theme is 'weather'. Check out my snippet from Love Me Knot, and then blog hop to the other blogs below!

Ciara came to Wyattville to reconnect with her half-brother, and use up extra vacation time in the small beach community. What she didn't planned on was throwing her inhibitions to the wind and falling for a complete stranger.

Ryan Wyatt spends his days serving in the Coast Guard, and his nights flirting with the ladies. He's the last Wyatt bachelor standing now that his cousins are married. When he meets Ciara he wonders if that's about to change. Until he discovers she's the sister of his enemy and then his plan for seduction becomes tinted with vengeance.

*Ryan's story was written after readers requested it! It's a short ebook available for .99*

EXCERPT

Ryan glanced out the window of the Coast Guard station and stared out at the ocean. The storm outside was full on raging. It was dangerous. Unpredictable. Kind of like his own mood.

It wouldn't be long before a call came in. They inevitably did on days like this. He was mid-conversation with the Chief when the alarm sounded, followed by the familiar crackle of the station's PA system.

"Now put the ready Helo on the line. Put the ready Helo on the line. There is a 28-foot pleasure craft taking on water eight miles southeast from Lincoln inlet.  Three crew, one is a minor. Now put the ready Helo on the line. Put the ready Helo on the line."

A short time later he sat in the chopper, staring out at the disappearing shoreline as they flew low over the Pacific—just out of reach from the turbulent ocean swells.

His focus was mostly with the vessel holding a small family that was taking on water. But every once in awhile, under the hypnotic whoop whoop of helicopter blades, Tyson's words from last night slipped through his mind.

You don't set out to break their hearts.

The guilt over Ciara was almost a distraction to the tightness in his gut over the upcoming rescue. Almost.

They were almost out to location. Fuck, it was always so much harder when children were involved. But you couldn't think that way. You couldn't let it debilitate you or compromise your ability to do your job.

"Sinking vessel up ahead."

Ryan blinked at the pilot's words and prepared himself.

All eyes were focused and searching the ocean. Ryan spotted the child first. Wearing a life jacket, waving anxiously and bobbing in the swells.  He slid his gaze around to search for the other victims, and spotted one who seemed to be attempting to climb back into the sinking vessel.

What the fuck? Get your ass away from the sinking boat.

There was no sign of the third victim.

Ryan positioned the sling around him to ready for descent. The cabin door opened and a second later the flight mechanic began to lower him out of the helicopter.

"Swimmer going down!"

While going down he studied the waves, concentrating on direction and keeping his eyes on the targets just ahead of him.

Ryan mentally said a quick prayer. A second later he hit the water and unhooked himself from the harness, then began cutting through the water toward the victims.

Snippet Saturday ~ Travel

Welcome to another Snippet Saturday. Today's theme is travel! Enjoy my excerpt, and then blog hop around!

Long ago, Delanie made one gigantic mistake. Or committed one small felony, depending on how you look at it. Stealing a coin from a sexy stranger was just a prank to help a sorority sister get revenge. The sleeping with him part was totally unplanned. Yet she holds the memory of that one intense, passionate connection close to her heart—like the coin she still wears around her neck.

Six years later, she's invited to a beautiful resort in the San Juan Islands to not only accept a donation for an abused women's shelter, but to consider a job opportunity as well.

Instead, she finds herself face-to-face with her past.

Grant has always suspected Delanie stole his rare, lucky coin. He just never knew why—or why she disappeared the morning after their hot night together. After spending years looking for her, he's lured her right where he wants her. He'll have his answers, come hell or high water.

And, if things go his way, he'll have Delanie, too.

 EXCERPT

"I like your tattoo," a deep voice came from behind her. "The last time I saw it I was taking you from behind."

Delanie choked on the wine she'd just taken a sip of, her fingers almost crushing the stem of the glass.

No. It wasn't possible. Goosebumps broke out over her body even as quick heat spread inside her. She could feel the owl tattoo on her shoulder blade tingle under his gaze.

What was more shocking? His words or the man who had just spoken them? God, it was a toss-up.

She drew in a slow breath, afraid to turn around. Her heart pounded furiously beneath her breasts and her palms dampened.

The coin she'd stolen from him six years ago hung on a pendant around her neck like a beacon. Thank God it was beneath the neckline of her sundress and well out of his view.

"Do you remember that night?" His warm breath tickled her ear.

Hot shivers raced down her spine as his words evoked images of the night they'd spent together. The air locked in her throat and she bit her lip, trying to halt the bombardment of erotic images.

Of course she remembered. That night was a firebrand on her mind. But admitting she hadn't forgotten could only bring trouble. It couldn't possibly be him standing behind me, the silly voice of denial screamed in her head.

Without turning around, she could sense the tall, hardness of his body just inches from her. Could feel his blue eyes burning a trail over her.

Another tremble wracked her body.

Get yourself together, Delanie. You're not a silly co-ed anymore. And he has no idea what you did the morning after your night together.

She focused hard on the sparkling blue water that lay beyond the trees. She'd always heard Washington State was beautiful, and this island and resort in the San Juan Islands was a genuine paradise.

Funny how she'd considered herself a lucky woman getting invited to such a posh resort. How wonderful that not only was she here to accept a donation to the Second Chances shelter, but to also consider an offer as the resort's marketing director.

Her lips twisted. She should have known. Paradise always had a price.

"Still thinking about that night?"

Annoyance pricked at his mocking tone. Knowing she couldn't very well keep her back to him forever, she forced a bland expression onto her face and turned around.

Her bravado slipped a notch the moment she saw him, but she forced it back by lifting her chin higher. "I think you have me mistaken with someone else."

"Do I?" He lifted an eyebrow, his mouth twitching with obvious amusement.

She swallowed hard.

Grant Thompson looked just as good now as he had six years ago. Scratch that, he looked better. The tall, lean, college athlete had turned into a sexy grown man. His face was harder now, more angular with the loss of the boyish roundness.

His hair, once more red than blond, had settled into something in between. But those eyes…those eyes were just as blue and piercing as they had been all those years ago. On that night she'd been stupid enough to bounce the bed springs with him.

She felt the warming of a blush and bit her cheek.

"Excuse me." She stepped past him, but he reached out and caught her elbow, swinging her back around. Hot tingles raced up her arm where his fingers touched.

"Wait, Lanie—"

"Well at least you got my name right this time." Her voice shook as she tugged herself free from his grip. She stumbled backward and eyed him warily.

That heart-crushing moment would remain engraved in her mind forever. Right after bringing her to a sweet morning-after orgasm, the jerk had called her Janie. Janie! And then to add insult to injury, he'd fallen back asleep before they could even finish making love. Wait, sex. Of course a guy like Grant wouldn't consider it making love.

"I'm sorry about that." Grant's jaw hardened, all amusement vanishing. "That mistake caused a helluva delay in finding you."

"Sorry? As if that—" She broke off and narrowed her eyes. "In finding me?"

He tilted his head and gave her a considering look. "Is that why you left so suddenly that morning?"

Guilt stabbed low in her gut, and she reached to touch the pendant under her dress. Before her fingers connected, she jerked her hand away and tucked a strand of short blonde hair behind her ear instead.

Careful, girl. You're on dangerous grounds right now.

"Look." She let her gaze slip away from his. "I don't know what kind of twist of fate brought us together, but I'll catch the first ferry back to Anacortes."

"It was me." He stepped closer, blocking her path back into the building.

Her heart almost stopped at the three words. "Excuse me?"

"I'm the twist of fate." His mouth tightened. "Finding you was the first piece of good luck I've had in years."

She almost dwelled on the luck comment, but the fact that he was claiming to be the twist of fate resonated louder.

The urge to flee increased and she shook her head, glancing around the patio. Her stomach clenched as she realized they were alone now.

"Grant…" She ran her tongue over suddenly dry lips and his gaze darkened as he observed the small movement.

"Lanie." He stepped forward and she took a step back, her pulse jumping.

"Delanie," she muttered without thinking. "I haven't been called Lanie since college."

"Fine. Delanie."

The waves crashed against the rocks below as he backed her up against the guard railing.

"When does the next boat leave?" she queried, her heart fluttering harder in her chest. "I can arrange to be on it."

"You don't understand. I don't want you to leave." His hands curled around the rail on each side of her body.

The faint smell of soap and cologne tickled her nostrils and the heat of his hard body mingled with hers.

"It took me six years to find you."

Six years faded to nothing with him standing so close. A tremble rocked her body, and her nipples tightened, chafing against the lace of her bra.

She bit back a groan. "Please…"

"The last thing I'm going to do is put you on a boat home, Delanie. We have a lot to talk about."

Her stomach dropped and her mouth went dry. Oh. God. He knew.

What I did last week…

I wanted share that I recently had lap-band surgery (mostly for health reasons) and so I've been lying a bit low lately. I hope to be up and running strong (replying coherently to emails and such) soon! It's never been a secret, and pretty soon people will likely notice and question weight loss, so I'm just being open about the whole thing.

Snippet Saturday ~ Uniforms

Welcome to another Snippet Saturday! Today's theme is uniforms. Check out my excerpt from Going Down, and then blog hop to the other links below!

One man wants her heart. The other wants her dead…

Holding Out for a Hero, Book 1

Eleanor Owen needs to get out of Chicago and quick. It's not that she doesn't want to obey the subpoena to testify against her drug-trafficking ex-boyfriend. It's making it to the witness stand alive, should a dirty cop make good on his threats.

Tiny, remote Wyattsville, Oregon looks like the perfect place to disappear, but it's hard to blend into the woodwork when one of the town's infamous namesakes sends her heart racing. Worse, Mr. Tall, Hot and Packing is the town sheriff, which means she should stay as far away from him as possible.

Tyson Wyatt is positive the sexy new girl in town is hiding something. Question is, what? He vows to feel out her secrets—including what she feels like beneath him. Preferably naked. Until then, he's not buying the story she's selling.

Their chemistry is sheet-melting hot, and Ellie realizes much too late that the man with the badge is as dangerous to her heart as her ex is to her life…

Available at Samhain Publishing | Kindle | Books on Board | Barnes and Noble

EXCERPT

Eleanor made a beeline for the bathroom, grabbing a small towel and running it under the water. Before she could tend to the scratch, the sheriff was right behind her.

He took the towel from her hand.

"Let me," he said softly and caught her wrist, lifting her palm upward so he could dab it with the cloth.

Her pulse fluttered again as she watched him gently cleanse the small wound, his face crinkled with concentration.

She was way too attracted to him, Ellie realized with unease. Oh, this guy was trouble and in a big way. For the briefest second, she thought about packing up and fleeing town the moment he left—if he left and was convinced that she was some criminal.

But packing up and leaving just wasn't an option, or would have to be a worst-case scenario one. She'd already paid rent for two months on this place. Cash. And she didn't have bottomless funds.

"How's that feel?"

She blinked out of her thoughts to discover he was watching her closely again instead of her wound.

"It's fine," she managed to reply huskily. "Thank you."

He stepped closer, leaning forward to drop the washcloth in the sink, but not moving away after. Their chests almost touched and his face was just inches from hers.

Ellie's body stirred with awareness at his proximity, her nipples tightening beneath her tank top. She licked her lips, acutely aware of the thin cotton covering her bare breasts.

"How long do you plan on being in town?" he asked softly, his gaze on her mouth.

Her heart thumped wildly and she had the craziest urge to lean forward and press her mouth against his.

"Probably just a couple of months. Getting out of the city for the summer…"

"Well then, Ellie," he murmured. "I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other again real soon. So you'd better get over that distrust of law enforcement bit."

Her knees almost buckled when he stepped away without touching her.

Disappointment swept through her. You're an idiot. Being disappointed that a cop you don't know didn't kiss you?

"I'll, um, work on it." She cleared her throat. "Was there a reason you dropped by in the first place?"

"Just wanted to welcome you to Wyattville and introduce myself." He laughed and shook his head. "Damn, guess I forgot to do both of those, now didn't I? The name's Tyson Wyatt and welcome to town."

She followed him as he headed toward the front door. "So that Wyatt part. Umm, you're not like named after the town or something, are you?"

"Descended from the original founders," he called out as he stepped onto the porch.

When he reached his squad car, he turned and glanced back up at her. "And there's a good handful of us Wyatts, Ellie. Just to warn you."

With a wink, he climbed into his car and backed away.

Ellie stood on the porch for a moment, wondering what the hell had just happened and what kind of crazy-ass town this was anyway.

Seducing Allie is now available!

Seducing Allie is finally here! A Seattle Steam book that's been a long time in the making :P Remember each book is stand alone, so you don't need to have read one to understand another. Here's a peak!

He's going to show this wedding crasher just how dirty the outdoors can be.

Seattle Steam, Book 3

Allison Siegel is out to stop a wedding. With one of her best childhood friends about to marry a gold-digger, who wouldn't at least try to stage an intervention? Apparently, her other childhood bestie, Clint.

The minute Allie grew out of her sneakers and into her curves, Clint's hormones went ballistic. But she had eyes only for Ken, so Clint made himself scarce, even after the relationship fizzled. Now she's back, looking better than ever—and hell-bent on sabotaging Ken's wedding. So Clint knows he needs to do whatever it takes to head her off at the pass.

Kidnapped! Allison can't believe it. Now she's stuck in the Montana backwoods fending off nature's friends, and fighting a losing battle to resist Clint—the sexiest forest ranger on the planet.

Clint has big plans for Allie. Not only will he convince a city girl that she needs to embrace her inner nature freak, but he's going to prove there's sparks flying in more places than just the campfire.

Product Warnings

This book contains a city girl out of her element, a forest ranger determined to keep her there, and a campfire seduction hot enough to melt more than just marshmallows.

Buy on the Kindle  Nook and at Samhain.

Excerpt

Clint reached up, his palm gently cupping the side of her face.

"Come back to my hotel room."

The air locked in her lungs and Allison's heart nearly stopped. Hot awareness rocked through her as his offer resonated in her head. Had she heard that wrong?

"We would be explosive together, Allie," he murmured, tracing his thumb over her lower lip. "Tell me you haven't thought about it."

She tried to shake her head, but it just kind of twitched as a low moan formed in her throat. Clint wanted to sleep with her, wasn't even being all cautious, subtle or romantic about it. He was just laying it all on the table.

"I want you," he continued, "and I intend to have you, kitten."

Kitten. It was almost a sexual play on how he'd called her Allie-cat all those years. She'd seen Clint be aggressive with women before, but never with her. To have his attention focused on her was both titillating and a bit scary.

Her knees went weak and she closed her eyes, already seeing it in her mind. How going to bed with Clint would be. But he's your friend. And yet she'd crossed that boundary with Kenneth at one point, why not Clint?

Clint's mouth, soft and yet firm, pressed against hers. The moan in her throat finally escaped as his tongue slid deep inside to tease her.

Allison's thoughts scattered as pleasure slid through her body. Heating her, making every nerve come to life. She instinctively pressed herself close to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and responding to his kiss as if it were the most natural thing to do.

The hard press of Clint's erection against her belly sent an ache pulsing low between her legs.

He lifted his head and dazedly she saw the hard glitter of arousal in his eyes.

"Let's go to my hotel room, Allie. You can drive me back here to my car in the morning."

It took a second for his words to sink in, but when they did a flush stole into her cheeks. Did he seriously just expect her to waltz out of here and go to bed with him?

A thought slid through her, leaving her chilled and her stomach twisting. Or was Clint just looking at sex as distraction? As a way to keep her from talking to Kenneth while getting a little action himself?

Would Clint really be that calculating?

Swallowing the unease, Allison shook her head. Either way, she wasn't going to jump into bed with Clint. It could only lead to trouble.

"Sorry, Clint. That's just not a good idea."

His lips curved into a sexy smile, before he dipped his head to nip at her bottom lip again. "You want me to drive?"

She pressed her hands against his chest to push him away. "No, I want you walk back into that party and tell Kenneth to come out here for a minute."

Clint stilled and all traces of arousal disappeared from his eyes. A small tic started in his jaw. "Leave him alone, Allison."

"I can't. Not until I've spoken with him."

He exhaled harshly. "I don't think this has anything to do with him marrying Ashley, but everything to do with him not marrying you."

What? Her mouth flapped and she shook her head. Didn't Clint know she'd only dated Ken for a few months and it had been a terrible idea? Any relationship between them was water under the bridge.

"You're way off base," she muttered. Her chin lifted and she felt a totally irrational desire to push his buttons. She knew she was being ridiculous, but didn't care. "And I'll talk to him if I have to show up at this house tomorrow and drag his hungover ass off the couch."

His eyes flared with a cross between amusement and aggravation. He plucked the keys from her hand and unlocked her door. "No, you won't. And this is your last warning, Allison." He lifted a finger in front of her face. "Contact him again and I'm done playing nice."

She climbed into the car and glared up at him. "This was nice, Clint? Once upon time you used to be nice. But this was—"

He shut the door with a wink, cutting off her tirade.

What a jerk. Allison's teeth snapped together as she started the engine, before pulling away from the curb.

She'd show Clint exactly what he could do with his warning.
