Significant Objects v3 gets underway in a matter of hours, and we're really excited. Proceeds from this cycle of 50 stories, objects, and auctions will benefit Girls Write Now, which mentors under-served or at-risk high school girls in New York City and as their site puts it, is "mentoring the next generation of women writers."

Gearing up for v3
We'll start publishing Significant Objects v3 stories on Monday, and we're excited about the strong lineup of writers and the Significance they've invented. Usually we don't announce in advance which writer will be published on which day, but there's a reason to make one exception for next week.
On Friday we'll publish a story by Jim Hanas. And in an interesting twist, it will be the culmination of Hanas's own five-story cycle, kicking off tomorrow, as he explains here:

Hilobrow micro-fiction contest winner
Last month, I announced a micro-fiction contest (about troubled and troubling superhumans) over at Hilobrow.com. The contest began on Jan. 26, 2010 and ended on Feb. 15. We have a winner!
