Did the official rump-session b'day party—on the water on a 40 foot—
well, party-boat. They have cruises out on Lake Coeur d'Alene, a little while out of reach of cell phones and with a nice lot of water and scenery round about. Good food and a nice sit on the upper deck for, yes, a three hour cruise. Jane and me and OSG. OSGuy was otherwise engaged or out of town.
Meanwhile we're starting to do some things looking toward winter with the pond. We can report major success with our 10 water hyacinth plants (no, they won't winter-over: they'll freeze, and we'll...

Got myself a brand new computer screen…
The Dell has been going pink, increasingly, on recovery from standby: I appealed to tech support, jumped through about 2 requisite hoops, and got, yes, a brand new screen installed this morning. I tell you, a laptop at-home service policy is worth the cost. This way, over 6 years of warranty, they're gradually building me a new computer. Palm rest, keyboard (2x), screen—let's hear it for the motherboard.

oops, erynn, I just found your question re Ari and Justin, and answered…
Sorry about that. I depend on the message scroll on the left sidebar and sometimes it scrolls so fast I drop a stitch. Jane located your question, and asked me if I'd answered. Oops. Now I have.

Well, after a day offline, we are finally back—correction; I am. Jane is still trying…
We aren't sure what happened. We lost both phone and internet and the tech said it was 'unusual' and 'nothing you could have caused.' Which sort of makes us think, yep, it wasn't us.
Jane is still having trouble getting online.

Pardon me if I scream…the genealogy database crashed.
Oh, yes, I'm backed up. But it doesn't help: here's the details.
1) I knew we were creaking. I wrote to the software people to ask what the max file size was. They were supposed to answer by 2 days ago. They didn't. I can now answer the question. At about 45,000 people at 115,000k with 2 gig memory.
2) Realizing I was treading on thin ice, I decided to split the thing, give Jane hers, and me mine, which I reasoned should cut it in half and solve any possible problem. I did that. The program refuse

71628 words. Past halfway, things are moving…and breakfast in the rain.
We got the stone lantern yesterday. It is so perfect for the scale of the garden. We set a tealight in it last night, and sat out there and just had a quiet drink in the garden after dark, both a slightly somber occasion, remembering family, and a happy one. It's just exactly what we wanted. There will be pictures.
This morning I was determined to have our usual breakfast outdoors with our beautiful lantern, and I had just carried breakfast out to the pondside when it began to rain…a northwestern

All right, me hearties, I believe it's time to test-cruise…
Closed Circle. We don't have everything up, but there is a hint of content. We haven't got an actual 'anything' yet, but as Lynn says, you can go push buttons and kick the tires and provide whatever comments you like in whatever venue you like. Now you can see what Lynn's been working on. Jane and I haven't a clue about how to get onto the site's inner workings yet, but we'll talk to Lynn tonight and will get our info.
In the meanwhile, Jane has another of her cover slideshows up, and we're just

Thought for the day…we're all related.
You know one of my hobbies is genealogy. And you've heard the 6 Degrees of Separation theory. Well, I have one for you.
You are one. Your parents are 2. Your grandparents are 4 in number. Your great-grandparents are 8. You have 16 great-great (or 2nd-great) grandparents. You have 32 third-great-grandparents. And 64 fourth-great grandparents.
Certain observations follow from this. First, it'd be hard to get you and all your relatives into the same room.
Second, if you've ever thought about trying t

Thank you all for signing up, and I hope you find it a pleasant place to hang out. I can't say, because I don't know who was the 500th member…but you all are the first member AND the 500th. Let's reach for our next 500!

Lynn reports she has made a breakthrough. We now have a template…
It has apparently stopped disappearing everytime she makes a move to remove the 'scaffold', she has apparently found all the stray asterisks, located the mistake in the instruction book, and, according to Lynn…we are now attempting to handle 'modularizing' it, whatever that means, and test it on other browsers: ok on firefox and IE-whatever—and she says we are over the technological hump and will be able to start installing 'content' very soon now!
All this means—we're going to be typing our litt
