Jane went to the doctor…
…the endocrinologist. She's going to feel better soon. She's got a prescription for more meds.
It's STILL raining.
We're still working with Savio to get that UV light replaced, so I've set up a pot filter to handle the algae and dosed the pond with algae killer: the fish hate it when I do that, and I hate doing it. It's hard on the ecosystem, but so is too much algae. It's just complicated. But we're getting there. They admit now they owe us a light. (UV light kills some disease thingies and s...

An old friend at Miscon…sf writer John Dalmas…
Missed telling you this, in the confusion of Jane coming back sick.
John Dalmas is an old neighbor of ours from Spokane. He's been a logger (has fantastic stories to tell you about exploding trees) and a writer, has struggled with hearing loss, and the craziness of the market—and has just kept writing. He's had to move from Spokane eastward, where family can help him out, as he's gotten old as the hills—and darned near as tough. He had been supposed to be at San Diego, but health hadn't let h...

A sunny day.
People are pointing at the sky and asking what that object is.
It's still supposed to rain…but the sun is out.
I got Jane to the chiropractor Monday, —our favorite latte stand had a new employee who had to be told to put a hot-holder on the cups; and then didn't fasten Jane's lid properly on her chai. I'm leaving Hwy2 and exiting the curve on the bridge that leads onto the Pullman road, when Jane starts screaming as one does when scalding liquid is dumped into one's lap—and I had no clue. She ...

Bye-bye el nino, hello la nina—
according to the weather bureau.
It's raining again, and looks to rain all week.
I just cleaned the pond filter yet again—the hyacinth isn't growing, because we're in perpetual overcast (with small intermissions)…so I built a pot filter. Pot filters are the really inexpensive way to set up a pond: we have a skimmer filter and a waterfall filter, but a pot filter as backup can be quite, quite efficient, particularly if you load it with pillow stuffing (same as they use for filter floss, only...
Doing somewhat better than expected
I'm not a great believer in 'cold-prevention' potions like Emergen-C and Airborne, but what could I lose? I wrapped my throat in elegant-looking Bengay pain patch bandage, took the Emergen-C and dosed myself with sake, and the sore throat has retreated. I would be so glad to skip what Jane's got. I hope she's better this morning. She hasn't reported in yet, but I hear life from her room.

how to waste time
Really wicked links follow: it's easier to put them in a comment than get the fancy-shmancy link button to work in the regular post.
Rain, rain and more rain…
It's a case of animals starting to pair up in Spokane. If anybody's building an ark, I have yet to hear it, but we're more than soggy. I don't think I've seen such a spate of rainy weather since we've been here. And our stripped front lawn? We're in trouble. Our neighbor's weeds are proliferating like crazy, and it's too boggy to run the tiller. We'd planned to get a truckload of mulch, and put down weedcloth, and maybe kill a little of what's going on, but it's too much. Now Jane's coming...

Ok, we are about to attempt to fix OSG's avatar…
…and our theory is that we have to delete OSG's membership, and attribute all her comments to her alter ego, which she has; and then she will rejoin as OSG, with that icon, and then I will wipe her alter ego, attritbuting all alterego's comments to OSG.
So…OSG, whenever you're ready, we will attempt electronic shape-shifting. The faceless lady steps into the box, lights flash, she disappears, then reappears gloriously green.

Still not recovered from the con…plus…what to do with a car whose battery won't stay up…
Jane's too stiff to move, neck and shoulder and lower back all out; plus aloe on the road-rash every hour—she is scared to death the lip is going to scar permanently. I gained 6 whole pounds during the con that are going to have to come off the hard way…sigh. We are collectively a mess.
But we're back at work. We've got so much cleanup to do in the house—and yesterday Jane was just done in. I think we're going to be off the rink for a bit more—for one thing, Jane doesn't want to go out in...

We're back from Miscon…
We were late getting there because it turned out the Stars on Ice tix we bought without looking at dates back at Nationals were for Friday night…and we started out with OSG driving at oh-God-thirty on Saturday.
Among first things was to meet with Azureblu's friend Linda, who had wanted to give me some things Azureblu wanted handed on—a very nice person, Linda, who has had a very, very difficult time since Azureblu's passing.
I had the writer's workshop, 4 hours of continuous panel with Jane...
