3 things about Sydney Pollack’s THE INTERPRETER

The Interpreter [2005]

1. A fixation on a Lyle Lovett song.
2. Lunch left behind.
3. Choppy chat in the lobby.

An excellent cast and some great dialog are seriously diminished by dreadful editing–this thing looks like it was cut with a chainsaw by someone who’s had too many cups of coffee. So the end result is a “it’s fine” thriller that makes an adequate accompaniment to pizza. But pretty disappointing compared to The Constant Gardner or Pollack’s own Three Days of the Condor.
