What can your resplendent eyes do?

Well, well, well, I am on a roll. And the poem which I am posting now has already been posted here under the title ‘Exquisite Eyes’. But I really love the look of creased paper and typewriter font. So, I am posting it again in the form of Instagram photo.

Every word of this poem begins with ‘E’.

P.S: Typo in the second last line. It’s ‘Everybody’.

Those who have not read this earlier, tell me your views.

Life and Death

Good morning, friends! Here’s something to pep up your day.

Spread goodness. Create memories. Leave footprints. To achieve these, embrace everything that comes in your way. Be it happiness or sorrow. Embrace every power inside you. Talent, efforts, hardwork and determination.

My foray into poetry

Hi friends! I have been writing poems of late. I don’t really know what happened to me, but I have found solace writing verses rather than stories. Maybe, it’s my way of keeping in touch with the writing world, amidst my busy schedule. And I have been posting them on Instagram, thereby joining the revolution of #instapoet. Now, I am gonna start posting them on this blog too. I expect all my dedicated readers to give feedback for all the poems posted here.

Here goes the first one:

’21 Pearls’ is out now!

Okay, this might sound weird. I posted about the release of my book ’21 Pearls’ in Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Almost bragged about it. But, I forgot that I own something called Musings Lounge. I realized that I never posted about my book here. ‘Seriously Kavya, do you even know how many dedicated readers you have here?’ I scolded myself mentally and then opened this haven of mine to post about my book.

And so, here it is. ’21 Pearls’ is a collection of multi-genre short stories written by me. There is a story for each one of you in this book.

Blurb:

A short tale is a whiff of fragrance on your busy day at work and a temporary escape to a fictional world for a few minutes. It refreshes you with its elegance. A good story is sure to leave a lasting impression on your mind. Here is a collection of 21 multi-genre short stories that will cater to every mood of yours.

If you are in for a romantic read, then there is ‘He Had Liked Her’, ‘The Gift of Love’, ‘Silence of Rain’ and also the interesting ‘You’re My Mobilentine’. Want to feel thrilled? There is ‘The Case of a Lucky Girl’ and ‘The Deadly Hobby’. For all the horror maniacs out there, there is ‘Twenty Three Minutes’. Get inspired with ‘Fortune Cookie’ and ‘She, Her & Herself’, while delve in friendship with ‘Lemon and Sorceress’ and ‘Your Darling Po’. And what’s more, there is a modern Indian version of the classic fairy tale Cinderella!

Dear Zindagi…

I am writing a letter to life for the #DearZindagi activity at BlogAdda.

Here is the video teaser of the upcoming movie ‘Dear Zindagi’, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt:

And here goes my letter for the bittersweet thing called ‘Life’.

Dear Zindagi,

I must first thank you for keeping me alive to pen a letter to you. I know, many people don’t thank you enough for the oxygen which you provide to keep them alive. They don’t realize that to breath and to be alive is the greatest gift you can give them, above all the joys, sorrows, sweet moments, and heartbreaks. If you, my dear life, had a form, then I’d have surely embraced you for all the wonderful things that you do to me.

People may wonder if I am way too optimistic about you. Yes, of course. I love you for all the positivity and happiness that you bestow on me. Let’s not concentrate on the troubles, miseries, and regrets that you have given me. They are a part and parcel of you, which no one can avoid. They are bound to happen. And I am thankful to you to have given me the strength to bear them. Why should I concentrate on your wrongdoings, when you have given me so much to celebrate?

I thank you for giving me the most lovable parents in the world, who support and encourage me in each and every step of mine. I thank you for the best friends, who stick to me through thick and thin. I thank you for blessing me with the passion to write, sing, and dance. I thank you for all the dreams which you have given me, of which some have already been achieved and some are yet to be achieved. I thank you for all the stories that you have made me listen to, for they have imbibed in me values that I would cherish lifelong. I should also thank you for the teachers, who have moulded me into the person I am. But, you yourself are a great teacher. The best one, actually.

You taught me how to live happily, when you showed me a poor yet happy family that solely lived on love. You taught me money isn’t everything. You taught me how to overcome disappointments and heartbreaks. You taught me that all people are not the same and how you must treat everyone’s opinion with care. You taught me that anger is not a solution to every problem. You taught me that change is inevitable. You taught me that age is just a number. You taught me how to follow my heart and live happily by caring only about the present. You taught me how to let go of close yet toxic people. You taught me how to cherish the small things. Above all, you taught me how to be a better human being.

I seriously despise people who tell that life has been unfair to them, just because they have met with some tragedies.  Yes, problems happen in every household. But, how could they forget the hell lot of good moments which you provided them? Hence, thank you for every little thing that you have given me. The joys which you gave propelled me to move forward and the woes which you gave taught me invaluable lessons.

When someone asks me about the best thing to happen to me, I would say ‘life’.

Love you, Zindagi.

With loads of love and regards,

Kavya Janani. U

My Wattpad life

Yes, this is all about my presence in Wattpad. Some of my friends know that I was active in that platform two years ago. It was where I published the first draft of my baby ‘With love, forever’ and posted the chapters till a crucial point in the story. The series received a tremendous response and it was then that I decided to publish it as a paperback. But, as you all know, it’s still in the cans. And I don’t know when it would see daylight. After that, I stopped being active on Wattpad and concentrated on other areas of my writing life. It was just last October when I made my reentry as Hayaathi (my pseudonym) in Wattpad and started writing a series named ‘The Unnamable Bond’.

I felt encouraged with the votes and comments I received on it, but I could not continue it due to writer’s block. It still stays ‘On Hold’. However, I will continue and finish it, once I feel inspired enough to continue it. Meanwhile, I began writing another series named ‘Diya Rai’ under the same pseudonym. This book is a slice of my life, slice of my friends’ life, and slice of every girl’s life. It’s an enjoyable, contemporary, hilarious, and lighthearted drama. Though I became lazy in between to update the chapters, I have started to write with full enthusiasm once again.

There’s a short story named ‘A broken glass slipper’ in my upcoming anthology ’21 Pearls’ (which was published in eBook version as ‘Tale Journey’). It’s a modernized Indian version of Cinderella. I tried to experiment with it a little more and published it as a four-part story ‘Anamika’ in Wattpad. Of course, under my pseudonym.

And I am also happy to say that Wattpad is where I run to, when I am affected with Writer’s Block. I deeply enjoy writing ‘Diya Rai’.
