Fake or Fact?
In the next installment of the Dalton Lee Mystery Series, the ability to tell whether something is real or fake plays a key role.
Some of the characters in “Murder Becomes Mayfair” (due out Fall 2018) are not whom they appear to be. Some of the things people say are not at all what they mean. In fact, they actually mean the opposite of what they say.
The theme of authenticity is especially relevant these days as news media proliferate, sometimes with the intent of providing us facts but somet...

Coming this fall
The Cornet Group publishes my third mystery/thriller in September, 2018.
Architect/detective Dalton Lee and his team successfully derailed the plans of a nefarious organization in "Murder Becomes Manhattan" and "Murder Becomes Miami." In "Murder Becomes Mayfair," they once again team up against the terrorists as a global leadership conference is about to convene in London.
In support of "...Mayfair," The Cornet Group is sending me on the road in October and November. I would welcome the opportunity to come to your favorite bookstore for a book reading and signing.
Please contact my co-publisher at randall@thecornetgroup.com if you can help connect us with a local bookseller.
Thank you

Looking for a Summer Vacation Page-Turner?
A fan told us yesterday that as much as he enjoyed “Murder Becomes Manhattan,” he thinks “Murder Becomes Miami” is even better.
Not only do you struggle to determine who killed college football’s most successful coach (he was sure he knew after Chapter 3 but was, ahem, dead wrong). You also learn fun trivia about the Art Deco hotels on Miami Beach AND how to make the perfect vesper martini.
Available in Kindle and hardback versions (paperback version availabl...

How Magic Informs Murder
The art of distraction is central to the art of magic. It’s also central to the next installment in my “Murder Becomes” series,
Magicians learned a long time ago that the best way to distract you from the legerdemain they are undertaking ‘over there,’ is to create some type of flourish, some sort of eye-catching extravaganza, ‘over here.’ Some claim today’s politicians now use this distraction technique more than magician’s do, making voters forget about some scandal ‘over here’ by focusing...

A Murder Well-Researched
I am a big believer that those of you who read murder mysteries are more than a bit brighter than the average person. I respect that and, as a result, I use my journalistic training to research the names, locations, etc. in my books so they are as accurate, and authentic, as possible.
Not all authors make that effort.
In a podcast interview with up-and-coming thriller writer T. Blake Braddy, I discuss the new tools and approaches out there that help me and other authors nail down the details...

Murder now is a little less costly!
Just in time for the American Labor Day holiday: we’ve reduced the prices of the Kindle versions of “Murder Becomes Manhattan,” and “Murder Becomes Miami.”
“Manhattan” is now just $1.49 (regularly $3.19). And “Miami” is now only $2.99 (regularly $3.99).
But don’t be-labor your decision, because these prices expire at 10 pm, Central time, Monday Sept. 5.
Who killed a seemingly beloved Manhattan socialite and why? Who within his inner circle killed the football coach at Miami Tech? Get a great...
