Chumming with Sharky™: Eden Baylee
Welcome to Season 2: Episode 2 of Chumming with Sharky™ where viewers from every corner of the deep blue sea are treated to a small taste of talented authors from a myriad of genres. Today, it is my pleasure to welcome one of my favorite women on the planet, Eden Baylee (author of the very hot and well-written Fall into Winter and Spring into Summer) to chat it up talk show style. This episode is rated “M” for “Mature” and not appropriate for those tadpoles, minnows, and fishies under 18. Okay, now that I have that silly disclaimer out of the way, let’s get on with the show…

Devil's Nightmare by Rob Pruneda (@sharkbaitwrites)
Good friend and fellow author, Rob Pruneda, released his book, Devil's Nightmare earlier this year, and I've wanted to do a promo for him for some time. I knew he was getting the cover redesigned, so I waited for that to happen first. You may recall I interviewed Rob last year and we became chummy while working on the Indies Unite for Joshua fundraiser.
The awesome and super supportive Eden Baylee posted a special promo spotlight for my horror-thriller Devil's Nightmare. Check it out...

Detective Aaron Sanders’ abilities and fortitude are put to the test when he investigates a brutal double-homicide where a boy’s parents are found mutilated inside their home. The boy is the only witness to the crime and his clothes are stained with his parents’ blood. His clothes are also tainted with the blood of other victims from a separate and even more horrific crime scene at a nearby cemetery. All of the victims appear to have been killed in the same manner and the boy knows the true identity of the evil responsible for the multiple deaths, but he is unwilling to talk. No one
would believe him. A threat on the boy’s life and a disturbing nightmare causes Detective Sanders to question his beliefs and his own sanity. This investigation ultimately leads Sanders in a fight to save himself and the life of an orphaned boy from an unimaginable evil that is spawned from the curse of the devil’s nightmare.

Book Review: Enigma Black by Sara Furlong Burr
I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of Enigma Black by Sara Furlong Burr last year and just recently read it again after purchasing a copy for my Kindle Fire as soon as it was published exclusively on Amazon. I normally don’t read superhero type stories, and I don’t read comics, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this story or not when I first read it. I’m here to say the second time around was just as enjoyable (if not more than) the beta read. Read my review of Enigma Black by clicking on the cover image below:

Sharky: Ah, it’s great to back in the studio again, but there’s just something not quite right about the décor. Where are the sharks? And what are those funky looking fish with the long curved teeth protruding from their lower jaws? They’re eating all of my exotic fish! And what about the sharks? The shark tank is supposed to have . . . um . . . sharks!
Video source: YouTube, user: predatorfish UK. More videos here
Producer: You ordered the vampire fish last week for the show, remember? And regarding the sharks, somebody forgot to feed them their weekly dose of surfers over the holidays. However, Anchor did stick around to make the drinks.

Sharky: Ahem . . . well, um . . . it’s a good thing that hammerhead shark has a weird appetite for galvanized nails and Home Depot shoppers. Anyway to start this season of Chumming with Sharky™ allow me to introduce today’s first guest (okay, our only guest). He’s a San Antonio Spurs fan (and used to eat basketballs for breakfast), star of “The Good Doctor” (No, not that one, Karen) in high school, a wannabe cyclops, an accountant, and he wrote this little series called Blood Skies when he wasn’t busy slaying real vampires and hellhounds. He is the one and only Steven Montano.

Beta Readers: Do I Need Them?
The Birth of a Beta Reader
[image error]Up until about eighteen months ago I had no idea what a beta reader was. It wasn’t until a fellow author, Sara Furlong Burr, approached me on Twitter and asked me if I would be interested in swapping novels with her for a beta read. Neither one of us had ever done a beta read before, but she at least knew what it was all about. Basically, the task was just like testing a new product (a beta test), read the novel, help her catch any flaws, and give her some general feedback about the story overall. That sounded simple enough. Plus, I got to have early access to an unpublished novel. So, I agreed and we swapped manuscripts. Today, I think Pursuit of a Dream is a better novel because of it. It was my first novel and probably could use more revisions, but overall, I think the beta reading process was very beneficial to me.
Devil’s Nightmare Beta Testing
Fast forward to the Fall of 2012 where my horror-thriller Devil’s Nightmare is in the editing stage of the publishing process and I now have three beta readers . . .
