Sick, Watch, Pseudopod, agents...and more!

With a lovely roast chicken dinner on the go, I thought it best to remove myself from the theatre of conflict (ie, the kitchen) and do a blog to stop me getting in the way and burning things. Besides, an awful lot has gone on over the last couple of weeks and it's high time I did an update.

SICK THINGS…AND THAT'S JUST THE READERS!

Last blog I mentioned that my nasty-redneck-werewolf-sex story, Heat, had been picked up by Comet Press. I'd been on their short list for their...

Transmorphers, Transformers in disguise (barely) and other news...

It's quite possibly been the busiest time of my life while here in Australia over the last few weeks, thus the distinct lack of a blog. So now, while the kids watch Transmorphers (No, not Transformers, Transmorphers. How can you get Transformers and Transmorphers mixed up?) thought I'd quickly write one as way of an update.

SO WHY HAVE I BEEN SO BUSY?

Ah, this brings back memories. Teaching full time, having evenings taken up by planning lessons and marking. This is on top of...

This is the NEWS!

It's been a long time since the last blog. An increase in work load (in all areas) combined with some time away resulted in less time on the net. We also had disaster strike when the laptop froze and refused to come back on. This meant I'd lost the last few thousand words of the latest novella, the video footage from my eldest's birthday and had no net access right in the middle of a Necrotic Tissue submissions period…of which I'm the head editor. Shocker!

Retravision wouldn't give me...

Some tips on editing

A literary agent has requested a full manuscript of my latest novel, The Forgotten. After I'd finished it and edited it, a few things popped into my mind regarding the 'polishing' process. Being a writer-type, I thought it best to simile-up. This is not a complete list, just a few thoughts. Here's hoping that old hands agree and new writers take heed. Let's hit this...

EDITING IS LIKE...THAT HIDEOUS OUTFIT YOU BOUGHT

We've all done it. The hideous thing I bought once was a sleeveless tight t-sh...

A quickie: Easter and competition winner.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

<Bit of fun - Name the Easter-themed film!

I didn't know it was today until last night, and that's the truth. Would I have been a bad father to deny my children Easter eggs for another week? I know what you're thinking: Yeah, Dan, like they would've lasted a week with you prowling around the fridge area!

No. Seriously. They would have. I tried a chocolate rabbit. I would be doing them a favour to throw the whole lot out. Cheap chocolate has an after taste of urine.

A BLUE/BLACK COLOUR SCHEME, OH, AND A COMPETITION!

BEWARE THE BUNYIP!

Howdy folks.

Once again, sorry for the inconsistent blog entries. Things have been HECTIC here. After the Western Australian College of Teaching finally pulled their finger out of their arse and renewed my membership, I've been allowed to work again. Whoohoo! Means my bank account drought may be coming to an end. Also have more fulltime-permanent work on the horizon, which is great. Let me at those chemicals!

On top of that, this week I've had informal requests for a couple of...

A blog. Like a golb, but a bit backwards

WELL I SUPPOSE I'D BETTER DO A BLOG POST THEN, EH?

Don't expect the usual happy-go-lucky horror blog this week. I'm sat here with a head ache today after spending the day at the computer.

In the Necrotic Tissue virtual office, head editor R. Scott McCoy has handed the reigns temporarily to Bad Billy author John P Wilson, so he can lie in the hammock in his overly-grandiose office (think of the ballroom in Labyrinth), sipping mountain dew and reading the great reviews of his own book FEAST, from...

Careful, love. He's ranting again!

DEAD WEST

First off, I would like to apologise for the small font (I'm having tech issues!) and then continue shouting from the proverbial.

The final TOC (that's table of contents for those of you that aren't up to speed on the lingo, ie, you, mum) has been released for the much anticipated horror-western anthology from Bandersnatch books, Dead West.

And wow. Seriously.

The book is due out in October with line edits starting in the next few weeks. It's an honour to be included, especially when I ...

At the End, Art

As my dad would say, at the moment I barely have time to wipe my arse (good old dad) so there will be no full-on blog this week.

Instead, and with Stitches due to appear in Fear and Trembling in a few weeks, I decided to share this poem with you that no one wants. It's too long!

Size, apparently, matters...with poems.

I have a few more smaller pieces out there and also some appearing in Bandersnatch publications (such as Ezra Pound. Cover on the right there) but I still don't see myself a...

Now with old, badly-written free fiction!

Got a message today: Where is your blog for this week? Your blog is one of the more interesting blogs I read ;).

To which I replied: nothing interesting enough has happened to warrant a blog this week.

Thanks, Jeanna, but the statement still stands. Nothing interesting has really happened this week. The boring aspects of my life (housework, reading - which I love but it's pretty boring to watch - and the never-endin', form-fillin', reference-seekin', document-certifyin', wheeler-deal...
