“To make a great film, you need three things: the script, the script, and the script,” Hitchcock declared.”
Stephen Rebello, Criss-Cross: The Making of Hitchcock's Dazzling, Subversive Masterpiece Strangers on a Train

“The motion picture is like a picture of a lady in a half-piece bathing suit. If she wore a few more clothes, you might be intrigued. If she wore no clothes at all, you might be shocked. But the way it is, you are occupied with noticing that her knees are too bony and her toenails too large.”
Stephen Rebello, Criss-Cross: The Making of Hitchcock's Dazzling, Subversive Masterpiece Strangers on a Train

“Hitchcock, who rarely praised other directors yet wrote Wilder: “Dear Sir. I had the very great pleasure of seeing a lovely picture the other night and would like to say that the two most important words after ‘Double Indemnity’ are ‘Billy Wilder.”
