G O O D B Y E
Back in December I lost my internet connection and it gave me time to think about YOUTUBE and during that time I decided on something that I've been keeping from everyone.
I decided that I was coming back to youtube but I also made the decision to only come back for a certain amount of time.
I didn't tell you all that because I knew I would be getting asked questions and people would get pissed so I kept it to myself until now.
I love BookTube and I always will, but I miss how it used to be when I began booktubing. I won't elaborate too much but I miss it so much that it doesn't feel right to me anymore to be involved. It's gotten harder to keep my audience and there has been so much drama it is insane.
So I have made the decision to leave BookTube. BUT not fully. I will reboot my current channel where I will talk about anything I want as well as books. I'm going to do whatever I want on that channel and I will not be JUST a booktuber anymore. A booktuber to me is a person who makes videos about books and books only. Some may talk about movies sometimes but they mainly run a BOOK channel.
I want a channel just for ME and for what I want to do. I don't want everyone expecting a book video from me all the time. And I want to leave booktube on good terms, I feel like right now it is right.
I have a feeling that only a select group will stay subbed to my channel because it won't JUST be a book channel but oh well that is apart of change and I hate change sometimes but right now I need it.
I want to thank everyone for welcoming me into their hearts and I hope that you continue with me on my new journey.
THANK YOU. :)

Conforming.
I admit that I've tried to jump onto hot YA bandwagons but in the past year I've just been like whatever I'll write what I want and that is what I wanted to talk about today.
To all my fellow authors and aspiring authors, write what you love not what is hot. I feel like when people conform and write what is IN they end up writing a shitty story. Some can do it, but some fail big time and it's sad to see.
We as authors write for our fans BUT we also write for ourselves more than anything. Always remember that. If you want to write a book about a girl falling for a cyclops gnome then write that.
Unfortunately originality in YA is hard to find and what I think is funny is a lot of readers will be like "Where's the originality? We need originality in YA!" but when an original and unique YA book comes out, it's left out in the dust.
For some reason I find that a majority of YA readers only gravitate to what is HOT and they are scared to touch something unique and different. That is sad and scary and I hope that changes soon.
Also cliches are fun when they are played with and twisted around. Don't use them if your just going to keep it safe. It's a bad move in my opinion. SAFE is bad.
The reason I decided to write this post today was because of the HOARD of New-Adult books that are popping out EVERYWHERE. I am outlining a New-Adult novel but I don't know if anything will happen with it, and I could care less. I'm simply just trying to see what I can do. If it comes out next year or five years from now so be it. If it never comes out oh well haha. I like to try new things and mess with stuff. Originality is important to me though. VERY important.
So in conclusion write what you LOVE and if you want to write what is IN make it yours, dig that originality out from within you and write, write, WRITE!
You don't have to listen to me, I'm simply giving advice and my opinion on things. But take what I've said in and maybe it can help you.
Also this is unrelated to this post but I've been getting asked what I'm currently working on. I don't want to say too much but I will say that it is Adult fiction and it's contemporary and no it is not a love story and no it is not a do me book.

My new pen name!
Hey Everyone, it's Richard but as you can see I am now going by my pen name Christian Marotti. The page containing all of my Richard Denney books is still available but I will only be active on this page for now on. I've been considering an official pen name to go by for a long time and I think it is time.
I will still be making some Richard Denney announcements through here but other than that this is my official pen name. To be honest I need freshness in my life and right now things aren't going well but I am trying my best to make it all work. I really hope everyone reads this because I will not be making the same announcement every damn day lol
I hope you all stick with me, I don't see why anyone would not want to stick with me. It's just a new name peeps. I'm not abandoning my Richard Denney books.
Also let's hope that the Goodreads librarians leave my shit alone this time. I'm really getting sick and tired of some of them changing my books around.
The reason I chose CHRISTIAN MAROTTI is because my grandfather's mother's last name was Marotti and I really love the name Christian. And I like the way it sounds haha
you can still call me Richard if you want, that is my legal name lol
