Well, summer is officially here in Australia! We are experiencing heat wave conditions across the country, and I’m sweltering in 35 plus degrees! The land is very dry at the moment, brown and dusty - a typical Australian landscape. Communities are busy preparing for the bushfire season, and just in time as we’ve already experienced our first major round of fires this week - luckily nowhere near me! My garden is definitely feeling the affects of the heat - some plants are absolutely loving it, while others need a bit of love and attention. My vegetable patch has an abundance of fabulous produce - lovely courgettes, strawberries, rocket, tomatoes - and a pepper here and there!
After months of anticipation, the first novel in THE ADVENTURER’S QUARTET, The Lady's Command, had been released and is available for purchasing, in print, ebook and audio! What a great way to bring in the New Year. I can’t wait for you to read the first installment! While we’re on the subject of THE ADVENTURER’S QUARTET, you’ll be happy to know that I’ve been nose to the grindstone, finishing the remaining novels in the series. I’ve finished my outline and have plunged into the writing of LORD OF THE PRIVATEERS, the fourth and final installment in the quartet - I’m having so much fun crafting the most appropriate end, one that wraps everything up for each of the Frobisher brothers. The third installment, THE DAREDEVIL SNARED, is with the publishers (and possibly available for pre-order), and the second installment A BUCCANEER AT HEART, is already done and definitely available for pre-order.
A Buccaneer at Heart picks up from Edwina and Declan’s return from West Africa, and we meet Declan’s brother Robert and Miss Aileen Hopkins, a feisty young woman who has travelled to Africa to find her younger brother, Will, a naval lieutenant who has mysteriously disappeared. After realizing there is no way to deter Aileen from braving the African jungle to find her brother, Robert joins forces with her, and they plunge into the jungle with only their talents and inner strengths to aid them—and with the courage of their hearts as their guide. I hope you all enjoyed the festive season, and the mad rush leading up to it wasn’t too stressful. I enjoyed spending time with loved ones on Christmas Day, including running around with my two young granddaughters. What a joy it is to have children at Christmas - they really bring the holiday spirit to the fore.
I’ve also managed to sneak in a good romance novel or two, and I hope you’ve been able to do the same!

He decides to seize the next leg of the mission his brothers have been pursuing in an effort to prove himself. Along the way he meets Miss Katherine Fortescue, and together they face the challenges and danger the mission—and the villains—throw in their path.
And then?
December 2016 will bring you the final installment of THE ADVENTURERS QUARTET, LORD OF THE PRIVATEERS.
2017 will bring the next Cynster novel, and after reading BY WINTER’S LIGHT, THE TEMPTING OF THOMAS CARRICK, and A MATCH FOR MARCUS CYNSTER, you should be able to guess which Cynster that will be.
In addition, we will be releasing the next Casebook of Barnaby Adair story plus one other book featuring one of those characters you’ve all wanted to hear about for so long – you will have met the principal character in a previous book but as to which characters it will be…we’re not entirely certain ourselves! More to come on that one.

Last week we had some horrible weather - winds above 100 kilometres per hour and torrential rain and hail - plus power shut off for over twelve hours for some households in Melbourne - I ask, where is Summer? I’m crossing my fingers that we have some warm sunny weather by Christmas! On that note, I wanted to say a Happy Thanksgiving to my American and Canadian readers - I do hope you enjoyed the festive holidays in the lead up to the end of the year, and managed to spend some quality time with your loved ones. Now the mad rush to Christmas and New Year begins!
Despite the current weather conditions, my garden is thriving - I have the largest strawberry patch in my courtyard, several meters’ worth. It’s producing an abundance of luscious fruit - there’s nothing like strawberries still fresh from the sun! Plus, I have an intriguing new variety of rocket - Wasabi Rocket! It’s delicious, and goes really well with the strawberries as a salad. Not too spicy and just the right amount of wasabi flavor.
On the book front, while I’ve been waiting for summer to arrive, I’ve been busily working on LORD OF THE PRIVATEERS, the last installment of THE ADVENTURERS QUARTET. I’ve finished my outline and have plunged into the writing - I’m having so much fun crafting the most appropriate end, one that wraps everything up for each of the Frobisher brothers. The third installment, THE DAREDEVIL SNARED has been handed into the publishers, and the first and second installments are already available for pre-order. The countdown to the start of the quartet - and it’s a real quartet with a single major story that runs through all four romances, but each book contains one romance - has begun! The first book will be downloading and on shelves at the end of the month - keep your eyes peeled!

They tell me summer is around the corner…really?
We’ve had two warm spells, and in between, the temperatures drop back to early spring coolness. But at least all the irises are blooming, and the trees are now in full leaf, and my paulownia is flowering - it’s the “blue sapphire” version, so think of a huge tree with larger than hand-sized heart-shaped green leaves and upright heads of large blue snapdragon like flowers on the end of every branch. Pretty and unusual - I wonder how big it will grow.
In recent weeks, I’ve been away on a writer’s retreat with my favourite author friends, talking, laughing, watching elk graze, and also working - I’ve been fleshing out the last book in THE ADVENTURERS QUARTET, my latest swashbuckling adventure-romance series, this time combining high-seas excitement with adventures in deepest darkest Africa. Of course, romance abounds! The quartet - and yes, it’s a real quartet, so there’s a single major story that runs through all four romances, but each book contains one romance - will commence very soon - at the end of December - with the release of the first volume.
So - drum roll – on December 29, 2015 we’ll have the global release of The Lady's Command, the first volume of THE ADVENTURERS QUARTET. The second volume in the quartet is A Buccaneer at Heart (to be released globally on April 26, 2016). In this instalment, Robert Frobisher, Declan’s brother, takes on the second leg of the mission and sails down to Freetown in Africa, expecting to go in, get the information he seeks, take it back to London, and then continue in his quest to find a wife. But in Freetown, his path crosses that of Aileen Hopkins, and his plans undergo a significant rearrangement. The manuscript for the third novel in the quartet, The Daredevil Snared (to be released on June 28, 2016) is in the final stages of preparation, and as mentioned above,I’m just starting to write the final volume, LORD OF THE PRIVATEERS, which will be released on December 27, 2016. So you’ll have a year’s-worth of adventure-romance to look forward to!
On a side note, the US-mass market paperback edition of BY WINTER’S LIGHT is now available. I saw it on shelves in grocery stores while I was away. I believe a similar edition should be out in the UK and ANZ by now.

We’ve had two warm spells, and in between, the temperatures drop back to early spring coolness. But at least all the irises are blooming, and the trees are now in full leaf, and my paulownia is flowering - it’s the “blue sapphire” version, so think of a huge tree with larger than hand-sized heart-shaped green leaves and upright heads of large blue snapdragon like flowers on the end of every branch. Pretty and unusual - I wonder how big it will grow.
In recent weeks, I’ve been away on a writer’s retreat with my favourite author friends, talking, laughing, watching elk graze, and also working - I’ve been fleshing out the last book in THE ADVENTURERS QUARTET, my latest swashbuckling adventure-romance series, this time combining high-seas excitement with adventures in deepest darkest Africa. Of course, romance abounds! The quartet - and yes, it’s a real quartet, so there’s a single major story that runs through all four romances, but each book contains one romance - will commence very soon - at the end of December - with the release of the first volume.

The weather has warmed up, and Spring is definitely in the air. Blossom is bobbing on the trees, leaves are unfurling – and I had to chase a wallaby out of my garden this morning! He – or she – was sampling the new growth on one of my small Japanese maples – the nerve!
But let’s plunge into more writerly happenings. For all those who have been waiting, the US-mass market paperback edition of BY WINTER’S LIGHT has just gone on sale. It should be available everywhere you normally find books, so be sure to snag your copy while it’s on the shelves. Finally, into Spring! The heavy frosts and freezing winds seem to have moved on in the last week and spring is definitely in the air! My rhododendrons have started to flower and my white daphne is scenting the air, and I’m looking forward to fresh spring mornings and sunny afternoons. We had some seriously chilly days this year so I’m happy to see the last of winter.
After a crazy July, I’m back on track and up to date with my writing. I’m hunkered down in my library, throwing myself headlong into my next writing project, THE DAREDEVIL SNARED which is the third book in my upcoming series,
