A poem from my newest book

A Cowboy's Shirt

In a windstorm in Georgia, I was started
That fall, from my roots, I was parted

A long ride from Georgia, to an Alabama mill
I was cleaned, spun and weaved till I had my fill

Then I was sent to a real kind ladies place
using a needle and thread, she gave me a face

Now, I really don't mean, to this world to blurt
but that is the day I became, a cowboy's shirt

When a young man came into the store one day
he picked me up, paid, and we were on our way

That day I met the hardest working man I'd ever meet
he had calluses on his hands and blisters on his feet

Whether out on teh range, or as Sundays best
he put every fiber and, thread I was to the test

Then war came and threatened our fine land
he cowboyed up, and made his X, like a man

I was hung in the closet, as he went off to war
he was dressed in green, not cowboy garb no more

For a full year, I hung in his closet and then
word came, that I would be worn once again

I am so proud of my young cowboy, you see
for at long last, he is coming home to me

Only, we won't be riding the range anymore
for you see, my young cowboy, died at war

The Colt

The Colt

A Novel of Romance, Intrigue and Murder.

Marnie White was a quiet and highly educated woman. She had given up her life as a bank teller for her best friend who was having some troubles on her ranch. But after her best friend got married and the trouble subsided, she was feeling like a third wheel. Marnie figured it was time she set off into the world on her own, before the secret she kept close to her heart came back to kill her. After answering a newspaper advertisement for a cow camp cook on the Montana border she was off.

Tucker Jenkins trained colts and chased cows for a living on the Rafter R ranch and has for most his life. He had been told he had a way with horses. After a nasty fall from a horse almost killed him, his boss told him to take it easy for a couple months and put him in charge of hiring a new cook. He hired the first person who sent in an application but he hadn’t expected a wisp of a woman barely five feet tall who talked so softly he could barely hear her. Not to mention the fact that every time he said something she jumped from him.

They soon found out that food is more than just a way to a man’s stomach it is also a way to his heart and a colt is not the only thing that can be tamed.
