WNW: "Then" Help
Reader question day here on Word Nerd Wednesday.
UPDATE: I originally wrote this post on a headache brain. Hence, I used the term contraction when I meant conjunction. (Yeah, I know. DUH. Like those two things are anything like one another.) I was recently asked something akin to the following (rephrased since I didn't get around to asking to use it . . . but I'm just...

Much Ado, Or: YES!!!
This is a brief story about a proud mommy, told in five parts.

I will not admit how many times I saw it in the theater (often driving an hour from Provo to Salt Lake to see it, no less). Let's just say that it brought me much joy. I could go in feeling down and depressed and come out happy.
To this day, the soundtrack by Patrick Doyle (now best-known for...

A day later, the file was approved. I ordered the proof, and it was shipped. I opened it up, flipped through it, and to my huge relief, I didn't see any glaring errors. I flipped to certain pages just to be sure that specific mistakes...

WNW: Catch-22
Today's Word Nerd Wednesday is part Word Nerd, part book review, reason being that I just finished reading Joseph Heller's classic novel, Catch-22.
First off, I cannot imagine what it would be like to have written something with a title that goes beyond being a title and becomes part of the lexicon. I'm sure there are other books that have done this, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.
Since this book isn't exactly a new release (it was originally published in 1961), a lot of...
