Where Are Libraries & Book Stores Shelving Bilingual Children’s Books?
Visiting a book store in Oregon last week, I was delighted that they had some of my children’s books in their welcoming children’s section. When I asked if they had any of my bilingual children’s books (Spanish/English), I was directed to the foreign language section on another floor.
When I sign bilingual books, some bilingual families are delighted that they can enjoy both languages, and often today, monolin...

Poetry and Music
Take a moment to enjoy two of Pat’s poems that have been set to music:
MUSE, a women’s choir in Cincinnati, OH, included Pat’s poem “Let Us Now Hold Hands” from Agua Santa: Holy Water on their album Sing to the Universe Who We Are.

National Diverse Book Community
For years, I’ve written and spoken about the importance of fostering a national diverse book community: authors and illustrators, publishers, editors, publicists, reviewers, award committees, librarians, teachers, families, and readers of all ages. National Teacher Appreciation Day
Dear Teachers, Gift idea for teachers and new teachers!
Gracias, Thanks! On Teacher Appreciation Day, during Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to thank all my teachers, and in a special way, my K-12 teachers. Their dedication and energy inspired me and still inspire me. Also, they made me memorize many poems ;)

Book Fiesta! Celebrate Children’s Day/Book Day
Celebremos El día de los niños/El día de los libros

“¡Viva! Hoy es nuestro día. El día de los niños!”
So begins this bilingual celebration to read and share throughout the year and certainly on or near April 30th. See children and families from varied languages and cultures enjoy reading–even in a hot air balloon. The words can be sung or used for choral reading.
