Happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween! Ghost crab on the beach at St. Simons this morning. They hang out in burrows up past the high tide line. The male ghost crabs pile the burrowed sand neatly beside their burrow entrance to attract females. The females leave the sand scattered all over the place. Because they’re totally over cleaning!

All the Keys Again
It’s not easy to write a book without a working R key. (Although one of my sisters told me that if you write with a Boston accent, you don’t need one anyway!) It turns out it’s a known issue for Macbook Pros. Apple gave me a new keyboard and battery, so I’ve got the full alphabet again. Yay!
I hope it doesn’t happen to you, but just in case, here’s the info: https://support.apple.com/keyboard-service-program-for-mac-notebooks
Have a great day!

Turtle Rescue!
This gorgeous box turtle was crossing the street in front of me while I was driving today. I stopped my car and flung the car door wide open so nobody could pass and hit one or both of us. I carried the turtle by the edges of its shell over to a grassy area and put it down facing in the direction it had been going. Just for a minute, I felt kind of like a superhero!

And here’s a little bit about the book:
From Claire Cook, New York Times bestselling author of the novel-turned-romantic comedy movie starring Diane Lane and John Cusack, comes Must Love Dogs: Hearts & Barks, Book 7 of the hilarious and heartwarming Must Love Dogs series.
In the charming beach town of Marshbury, Valentine’s Day is in the air. But preschool teacher Sarah is feeling more relationship-challenged than ever. She just wants to survive February, the longest-shortest month of the year. John wants to elope, but it’s not exactly easy to find someone to watch their ever-growing four-legged pack, which now consists of two dogs and five cats.
Teacher assistant and housemate Polly’s baby bump is growing, too, and it’s a constant reminder to Sarah that everybody else and their goat seem to be able to get pregnant like it’s no big deal at all. Cupid’s arrows are misfiring everywhere, and even Sarah’s bossy big sister Carol’s marriage could be heading for trouble. And Bayberry Preschool has declared a moratorium on Valentine’s Day candy, so who’s leaving those conversation hearts taped to the classroom door?

Shark!
I was walking the beach at sunrise this morning, splashing along barefoot in the water. I almost walked right into this shark. That woke me up! It was swimming back and forth right at the edge of the water, close enough that I could hear the theme music from Jaws playing in my head.

Beautyberry

Native beautyberry bush in my garden. I love the vibrant purple color of the berries. And the other cool thing is that the leaves are a natural bug repellent. You just pick a leaf, crush it, and rub it all over—it works!
