Announcing: A Deadly Education & More News

Three pieces of Naomi Novik news today. Let’s get to it!

First, Del Rey Books has revealed the cover and information about Naomi’s forthcoming new book, A Deadly Education. Click here to see details on Entertainment Weekly!

Second, Grim Oak Press has decided to auction one of their rare editions, this one for Uprooted. Only 5 were produced. Genuine leather stamped in foil, bookmark ribbon, a full-color fold out, and all housed in a protective clamshell! Naomi has one. The owners of Grim Oak have two. The last two are for charity auctions, the first one up now. To view photos and bid on it, click here! Grim Oak still has copies of the limited edition on their store too, FYI.

And finally, since Del Rey revealed A Deadly Education, Grim Oak has decided to reveal the stunningly beautiful Donato cover for the limited edition of Spinning Silver. Be sure to pre-order now (and the slipcase on the same receipt to save on shipping) so they can match your number to Uprooted!

Hope you are reading something great! I just finished A Deadly Education and it’s great. Loved it!

Best Monday Wishes,

Naomi asked me to post this message to those of you who love giving books during the holiday season. She will be stopping by the bookstore Book Culture in NYC on Monday to sign stock and any pre-ordered books that her readers may request from her. I know many of you love book giving and this is a great way to give a book while making it even more special with an author signature and/or personalization!

ARC Giveaway: Unfettered III

Unfettered III publishes March 19, 2019!

As its editor, it is a project close to my heart, one that has taken two years to come together. But the time it has taken has been more than worth it. It has a menagerie of different SF&F stories, featuring bestselling authors alongside new voices. Not only that, but Naomi has written a new, magical short story set in the city of Seven — its main character based on my mother, a woman who loved Naomi’s writing!

Here is what Publishers Weekly had to say about Unfettered III:

This powerhouse addition to the Unfettered series continues the tradition of donating proceeds to authors struggling with medical bills and boasts an incredible lineup of stories by pillars of the fantasy genre, many of whom contributed works set in the fictional worlds for which they are best known… this massive tome will easily find a home with fans of grimdark, military, and epic fantasy.

Spinning Silver Is Published In The US!

Spinning Silver is published today in fine US bookstores!

If you’ve pre-ordered it, great! Hope you receive it soon! If you haven’t ordered it, go to your favorite bookstore and buy a copy. Then electronically send your receipt to Penguin Random House HERE for a special foil dust jacket!

Here is more information about the book:

A fresh and imaginative retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin fairy tale from the bestselling author of Uprooted, which was hailed as “a very enjoyable fantasy with the air of a modern classic” by The New York Times Book Review.

With the Nebula Award–winning Uprooted, Naomi Novik opened a brilliant new chapter in an already acclaimed career, delving into the magic of fairy tales to craft a love story that was both timeless and utterly of the now. Spinning Silver draws readers deeper into this glittering realm of fantasy, where the boundary between wonder and terror is thinner than a breath, and safety can be stolen as quickly as a kiss.

Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father’s inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty—until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. Hardening her heart, the young woman sets out to claim what is owed and soon gains a reputation for being able to turn silver into gold.

When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk—grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh—Miryem’s fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered. Set an impossible challenge by the nameless king, Miryem unwittingly spins a web that draws in a peasant girl, Wanda, and the unhappy daughter of a local lord who plots to wed his child to the dashing young tsar.

But Tsar Mirnatius is not what he seems. And the secret he hides threatens to consume the lands of humans and Staryk alike. Torn between deadly choices, Miryem and her two unlikely allies embark on a desperate quest that will take them to the limits of sacrifice, power, and love.

Channeling the vibrant heart of myth and fairy tale, Spinning Silver weaves a multilayered, magical tapestry that readers will want to return to again and again.

Advance praise for Spinning Silver

“A book as cool and mysterious as a winter’s night, with two marvelous heroines at its heart. Spinning Silver pits the cold of endless winter against the fires of duty, love, and sacrifice. I couldn’t put it down.”—Katherine Arden, New York Times bestselling author of The Bear and the Nightingale

“Naomi Novik knows how to weave words into magic, and Spinning Silver enchants the reader from the first page. This magnificent tale of three courageous young women who find the power to change their fates will catch you in its spell and linger long after the last chapter is read.”—Christina Henry, nationally bestselling author of The Mermaid
