oh my gosh.

The Redeemer Kickstarter closed out about an hour ago with 428 backers and €12,251 in funding, which hit the cover art stretch goal with a wee little bit to spare.

That is *well over* a third again the number of backers I’d first dreamed of. It’s nearly *half* again the number I first dreamed of. It’s only 90 backers fewer than NO DOMINION had, which, holy *crap*, that was so far beyond my hopes I didn’t even go there. And I just now at this moment noticed that there were, at the end, 300 e-bo...

WE HAVE COVER ART

One of my Loyal Readers, known in these parts as Hataroni, commissioned a short story, and then someone else put us over the top! WE HAVE COVER ART!

But Hataroni didn’t just commission a story. He’s asked me to ask YOU for story ideas that he can choose from, because he’d like to see what his fellow readers would like, too! IS HE COOL OR WHAT?!?!

So please post your story ideas here, and I’ll make sure he sees them (well, he will anyway, but I’ll make sure!)

Hataroni has also mentioned a fundrai...

20 hours & counting. O.O

Today I have made lemon curd, marshmallow creme, chocolate fudge, vanilla fudge, and coffee fudge (well, okay, I haven’t made that YET), roasted a chicken with carrots & baby potatoes, and I will shortly bake some biscuits.

Displacement activity, anyone? :)

The REDEEMER Kickstarter is just over 11K with 20 hours left. 387 backers, which is fast closing in on my revised-revised dream number of 400. Lindsey Look cover art is less than a thousand euro away. I feel faintly as though I’m living in a...

Recent Reads: The Grand Sophy

I started reading Georgette Hayer probably because of Sarah Rees Brennan and Chrysoula Tzavelas, who are both big Regency fans. I’ve read three or four of her books now and enjoyed them all, but THE GRAND SOPHY is one of Chrysoula’s favourites, and I can entirely see why.

Unlike the other Heyer books I’ve read, I actually found THE GRAND SOPHY a bit hard to get into. That all changes when Sophy herself arrives on the scene, because–

–we often hear characters described as exploding onto the page...

We are not well.

Between the beginning of September and the end of October I had three distinct colds. Since the beginning of November I have had a continuous cold, or colds in such rapid succession as to make no nevermind in the difference. So has Young Indiana. Ted had some kind of throat infection that got cleared up just in time for him to start catching colds, too, so we’ve been consistently unwell in this house for weeks to months, depending on how you wish to count it.

Today Young Indiana and I went Ch...

It’s the final countdown!

The Redeemer Chronicles Kickstarter has clicked over to counting down the hours instead of the days!

It’s going great guns, guys. It’s €220 from reaching the copy editor stage and only €2220 from reaching Lindsey Look cover art! It’s already blown away my hopes of 300 backers and is charging merrily on toward my revised dream of 350! (I confess that I’m even hoping for 365 now, one for each day of the year! :))

In fact, it’s just 5 more backers to reach my dream of 50 trade paperback backers! A...

Picoreview: The Imitation Game

Picoreview: The Imitation Game: Pretty good. Not as good as the hype, but pretty good. Better than Interstellar and its hype, for sure.

It’s Cumberbatch doing what–not what he necessarily does best, I said, thinking of him in August, Osage County–but certainly what he’s best known for: playing an exceedingly intelligent, not particularly well socialized man with grandiose vision and the ability to carry it out.

The difference, of course, is this time it’s a relatively true story. I don’t know a...

THIS. IS. KICKSTARTER!

THREE HUNDRED! THREE HUNDRED BACKERS, GUYS! THAT WAS MY DREAM NUMBER! I’m going to have to upgrade my dreams!

Oh my gosh, this is VERY exciting! VERY! EXCITING! 300 backers and the Redeemer Chronicles Kickstarter is nudging €9K now; another 600 will offset a useful-sized chunk of hiring a professional editor, which–it’s totally silly, but that excites me. I’m a pretty good writer, and I turn in pretty solid drafts, but invariably my editors have questions and insights that leave me wondering w...

Parenthetical Post

I’m holding the Sockpocalypse. We have an unbelieveable number of unpaired socks. I’ve been collecting all that I can find for the purposes of washing and pairing them. Anything left without a mate at the end gets binned. I don’t need wire hangers anyway (althoug a bicycle would be nice).

Yeterday it was (literally) freezing. As part of the Sockpocalypse, I unearthed my winter coat (and my knee-length black leather coat, and my Sassy Librarian Glasses, which means I now have a pair of glasses...

V for Victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, the REDEEMER campaign has just crossed the €8K threshold, which means the Redeemer Chronicles are a go and I am under contract–*to you*!

Oh my gawd. Holy crap. Holy BEANS. This is–I mean, NO DOMINION was very exciting, of course, but this is a whole different ball game! This is a NEW STORY I get to tell RIGHT FROM SCRATCH, and it’s a thing that’s happening because we now live in a world where readers can directly make books happen.

That is so amazing. YOU GUYS are SO AMAZ...
