a small Aldi accident

For Reasons, once a week I am stuck in an Aldi for approximately 90 minutes. Aldi, for those who are not familiar with it, is a German grocery chain that also carry Stuff. The Stuff changes twice a week, and covers a wide range of Possible Things You Never Knew You Needed, or sometimes, Things You Really Needed And Can Get Here At A Decent Quality And Fairly Affordable Price.

Normally I’m fairly brave about this situation and do not come home with Stuff, but I had a small Aldi (smAldi?) accident...

triumph, of sorts

The past two months have been full of travel and sickness, not necessarily in that order. It has not been conducive to work, so now I’m stressed about that, but the only thing to do is actually get work done, and instead I’ve been trying to get my website a little more functional. I mean, it was functional, but there were some back end problems that had gotten to the point that I felt guilty about it, as I’d been coasting on the good will of friends for a super long time and am afraid I was caus...

Happy New Year!

Lord, what a year that was.

There were some highlights. Going to London with a girlfriend to see James McAvoy star in a stage performance of Cyrano was DEFINITELY one of them. Getting back to the States to see family was good. Young Indiana outgrowing me–apparently through sheer determination–was worthy of a nod. Writing my 50th novel was a big one!

And know what? Ihink I’ll focus on those, and let the lowlights slip away.

I hope the coming year is kind and gentle to us all. We need it. Happy ne...

Catie’s Somewhat Disastrous Day

Yesterday:

1. walked out the door, closed it behind me, realized i’d forgotten my keys

2. decided I’d go to Ted’s work and get his keys, got to the bus, discovered i’d ALSO forgotten my wallet/bus pass

3. texted the landlord to ask if he was around and could let me into the house. fortunately, he was, so I got back in, got my keys, got my wallet, and went out to the shop that said on its website that it had marshmallow creme

4. the website was wrong

5. got interviewed by newstalk radio on resear...

not bougie after all :)

I turned out to be not bougie after all, because a couple hours after I booked the laundry service, the landlord came by with a new dryer (on a Saturday evening!) and we could do our own laundry, so I cancelled the service. :)

I am, however, looking at the living room floor, which was last vacuumed about eight days ago and has collected visible amounts of dog hair, and am booking a cleaner. Even if all they ever deal with is vacuuming and the bathroom, that will be enough. Possibly that’ll free ...

the most bougie thing i have ever done

Our dryer died last weekend, and the landlord is working on getting a new one, but in the meantime, the laundry is piling up, so I have found a local laundry service that will COLLECT EVERYTHING, take it away, wash, dry, and fold it, then BRING IT BACK TO US.

I said over on twitter that if this goes well, I may never do laundry again. That’s probably not true, but the fact that I can just have somebody COLLECT IT…. I mean, I found them because I was looking for a laundromat near me, and the Goog...

New Book: A VERY MEOWY CHRISTMAS

My latest paranormal romance novella, A VERY MEOWY CHRISTMAS, is now available!

I cannot tell you how much fun I have writing these lil’ novellas. They’re short, they’re sweet, they’re funny, and everybody gets to live happily ever after, which we certainly need in these times. I genuinely hope you like it as much as I liked writing it. :)

i gotta marie kondo my life

S P E C I F I C A L L Y i need to marie kondo all the stuff that’s lying around that’s actually already been marie kondo’d and just needs to be TAKEN SOMEWHERE ELSE. We don’t have a car, which makes some of it difficult, but there are also things too large to be put in a car (like a 3 seater sofa), so it’s less relevant on that front.

I am just so tired of Stuff. I do not know how to winnow down the STUFF. I mean, I do, but like most things in life, it’s much easier to know HOW to do a thing th...
