Seductive Saturday- Buffalo Chicken Pizza
Ingredients: 1 stick of butter, 2 Tbsp Texas Pete (more if you like it really hot), 1 cup of ketchup
1/4 cup Mexican Cheese dip (queso)
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1 boneless, skinless chicken breast- cooked in a microwave till done, shredded
1- 2 packages of pizza dough mix, made according to package directions.
Directions: To make the Buffalo sauce you’ll need a small sauce pan. Mix butter, Texas Pete and ketchup well until all the butter is melted. After making the pizza dough according to package directions, in a cast iron skillet, I cook the chicken till done in the end microwave. Let it cool for a few minutes before shredding. Melt the Mexican Cheese dip.
Now for piecing it all together…. spread the Mexican Cheese dip evenly across the entire prepared pizza crust, leaving a bit of an edge. Spread the shredded chicken over the Cheese dip and drizzle the Buffalo sauce over the chicken, as heavy or light as you want. Spread the shredded mozzarella cheese out over the Buffalo chicken. Bake in the oven at 375* for about 15-20 minutes or until the crust is a light golden brown and the center of the cheese is all melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven let sit for about 10 mins. This is so that the cheese has a chance to cool a bit and to not leave the pizza as it’s served. Cut into as many or little as you like. Serve and enjoy.

Christine d’Abo is a novelist and short story writer with over thirty publications, including the immensely popular Long Shots series. She loves to exercise and stops writing just long enough to keep her body in motion too. When she’s not pretending to be a ninja in her basement, she’s most likely spending time with her family and two dogs.
Her newest Steampunk Romance, Gilded Hearts, the first book in the The Shadow Guild series, releases January 7th 2014 in ebook and print.
Q: In your book, Gilded Hearts, your heroine is a memory archivist. What inspired you to create such a character?
d’Abo: I’ve always believed that we are more than the sum of our parts, but couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if someone was able to strip a part of us away. Would we still be us? In New London, Man and machine are changing, becoming something more than their original form. Some people have developed abilities that set them apart from the rest of society. These outcasts are actually the driving force behind the politics of the city and shaping humanity’s development.
Over the years, people who display certain affinities for machines, both in their creation or manipulation, get recruited into one of the various guilds of New London. People with eidetic memories become memory archivists. My heroine Piper is one such person. People who can manipulate machines with their minds become clockwerkers. They are given no choice, which causes many problems in itself.
The machines in New London have started to take on the characteristics of living people. Animatronic animals react as real ones would. They can even form bonds with some people. My hero Samuel has the ability to make them listen to him, simply by using the power of his mind. He must hide his abilities or risk being pulled back into the world of the guilds.
Q: When world building, did you base your story off of known myths throughout history?
d’Abo: I became fascinated with the Jack the Ripper case files at quite a young age. The different theories about who the mysterious Ripper might actually be were wildly different. While Jack the Ripper was a real person, there was so much we didn’t know about him. The man very much became a myth, something that terrorized not only the residents of London, but many people around the world.
When I was creating my steampunk world, I actually hadn’t intended on working Jack into the plot. It was only as I was killing off characters that I realized I needed a villain with a unique backstory. Playing around with the Jack the Ripper story gave me the framework and freedom I needed to develop my plot.
Q: What inspires you?
d’Abo: Growing up, I read a lot of myths and legends that had to do with my part of Canada. Lots of ghost stories, warnings of what the devil would do to trick you, that sort of thing. Looking back now, a lot of these tales were modified from older stories that originated in the UK, but at the time they felt very real to me. They opened my mind up to the possibility of “the other”, that there is more to life that meets the eye. As a writer, this was one of the biggest gifts I think I’ve ever been given.
Never underestimate the power of stories told around a campfire.
Q: Why do you think readers, and society in general, are fascinated by the paranormal?
d’Abo: I think our drive as humans is to want to know the unknown. Whether its science, religion, what’s behind door number two…we simply need to know. Some of those answers come easily, while others we will have to wait for. The paranormal gives us a peek into that unknown. It shows us that there is more to life than going to work and coming home.
Life would be too boring if everything was the same. The paranormal is special, and special is awesome.
Q: What are your favorite paranormal shows, movies and books?
d’Abo: Oh I love paranormal books and television shows! I’m a hardcore Supernatural fan, because of their amazing way of blending myths, humor and horror. Plus, good looking men. I also love Lost Girl and their use of a succubus as a main character.
As far as books go, I’ve been currently reading Kristen Callihan’s Darkest London series (Firelight, Moonglow, Winterblaze, Shadowdance). I love her mix of paranormal with historical elements. I’ve described Firelight as Firestarter meets Phantom of the Opera.
Q: Do you believe in the supernatural? Or are you a skeptic?
d’Abo: I do believe in the supernatural. The world is a complex series of energy and connections, many of which I don’t think we are able to fully perceive. And while I don’t think vampires are going to sneak into my bedroom in the middle of the night, I can’t help but think there is a certain amount of truth to the idea of ghosts. Who knows, but I’m one to keep an open mind about things.
Q: Have you ever had a paranormal experience?
d’Abo: I always feel a bit odd telling people this, but I had a premonition that came true once. I was fourteen and it was the summer before I was to go to high school. I woke up in the middle of the night and said out loud the name of the man I was going to marry. It didn’t matter than I didn’t know anyone by that name, or that it was the middle of the night, in my head I knew that’s who it would be. Three months later I was told we were moving to a new city. Three weeks after we moved, I met my husband. Yes, it was his name.
Q: What kind of paranormal creatures do you wish you could meet?
d’Abo: I’d love to come face to face with a ghost. It would totally scare the crap out of me, but it would certainly be the most amazing thing to experience. I would so go on a ghost hunt, but I think you’d all end up laughing at me.
Q: If given the chance, would you become an alien test subject?
d’Abo: Let me think…yeah, I’d do this, for no other reason than to be able to say Ha! They’re real!! We really need to make this happen. Can you get back to me on application forms ? Thanks so much. ☺
Q: How would you react if you came face to face with a vampire?
d’Abo: So here’s my problem with vampires. I pass out at the sight of blood. I don’t panic or freak out or anything, just thud. It’s really annoying. My luck a vampire would come up to me, do the whole I need your blood thing and I’d end up unconscious before I’d get to really experience anything. And what kind of fun would it be for them? They wouldn’t even be able to terrorize me! It just wouldn’t be a good time for either of us.
Q: What does the future hold for The Shadow Guild series?
d’Abo: I’m excited that Gilded Hearts, book 1 in the series is now available. Book two, Quicksilver Soul will be available in March. I’m currently working on the next two books in the series, and I hope to have more news on them soon. I’ll be continuing the trend of fictionalizing historical figures and inserting them into my steampunk universe.
Q: Have you ever been abducted by aliens?
d’Abo: They wouldn’t take me! I had a sign and a six-pack ready to go, but the buggers stood me up. I’ve basically cut off all ties now. I have better things to do than to wait on rude-ass aliens.

Seductive Saturday – Cranberry Orange Chicken and Stuffing
Hello, all. I hope this week’s blog finds you well. Are you ready for the holidays? I’m not even close. I don’t even have a tree yet. I normally have that up the weekend after Thanksgiving. It’ll go up probably Sunday. So this week I’m going to be sharing with you a favorite of my family’s. This recipe is THE most requested recipe I have next to my lasagna.The recipe is called Cranberry Orange Chicken and Stuffing. To me this is a very easy dinner to make. It doesn’t create a lot of dishes to clean afterward and it’s filling. WIN! I sure hope you all try this recipe and come back and tell me what you thought of it.
Ingredients:
1-2 boxes of your favorite stuffing mix, prepared according to directions
1- 8 oz bag dried cranberries
1 small can of Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken Soup
1 small can of water
2 whole oranges
4 chicken breast halves
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375* F. Spray non-stick spray on the bottoms and sides of a large baking dish. Mix the dried cranberries in with the prepared stuffing well. Spread stuffing mix evenly across the bottom of the baking dish. Slice one orange into 4 rings and place in a line on top of the stuffing. Place a chicken breast half on top of each orange slice. Mix the cream of mushroom soup and the water well and pour evenly over the whole dish making sure to cover the chicken completely. Roll the second orange on the counter top applying pressure with the heal of your hand. This breaks up all the juices inside and makes it easier to squeeze. Cut the orange in half and squeeze the juice over the soup mix. Cover and bake for about 20-30 mins or until the chicken is no longer pink and reaches and internal temp of 165*. Let the dish cool for about 5 minutes and serve. I served this with steamed broccoli and a cheese sauce. I also will serve it with a nice salad.
