The land of crazy!

I think I've been living in the land of crazy since March!Everything for 2017 is buttoned up!  The Brothers in Arms Duet is in the final stages of editing.  Book 1 will be released on 2 September, book 2 will be released on 2 October, and the boxed set on 18 October. In just one week, I'll be finished with my 3rd Masters class.  Then I'll have a two-week break before I start my first core class AND my full-time gig again.  Even with all that looming on the horizon, I started a new story for 2018! Why?I just can't help it!And man, oh, man - this one is already unlike anything I've written before.  I'll be sure to drop some hints on my Facebook page as the story comes together.  I'm hoping for an 18 January 2018 release date.  We shall see!Until then, much love to you all and happy reading!Layla

Back in college!

That's right!Next Tuesday I will start my first class in my pursuit of a Masters of Education degree.  It only took me 19 years, but better late than never, right? At the moment, I don't know how my classes will affect my writing.  The good thing is that I have already completed three more stories for 2017.  And since my brain has been chomping at the bit for higher education over the last two weeks, I've actually started another.  But only time will tell. For now, you have Josh, Steve and Ezra on deck.  And Charles is in the making.Much love to you all and thank you for reading.

Ch-ch-ch-ch-CHANGES!

So, I haven't posted here since August and OH SO MANY THINGS have changed!First of all, I've penned five new stories for 2017 and I've already released two of them, "Anticipating Fate" and "Consensual."The other three are slated for release in April, May and July.  I already have another story in mind but I'm not sure when I'll have the time to write it.You see, if you've checked out my website or my Facebook page, you'll know that I have a full time gig as an educator.  And after 19 years, I've finally decided to pursue a Masters degree.  So I will have less spare time for writing come mid-March.That being said, the good news is that summer may give me time to crank out a story or two for the end of 2017.  Only time will tell.Thank you so much for reading and even through there may be a lull in productivity, as far as I can say, there is no end in sight!

Time flies!

Man, oh man!It seems like just yesterday I finished "Critical Sync" and now I've already started a second story for 2017.  And the ideas are still flowing! The first story is in the editing stages now and it was a bit of a nail-biter.  My second story is going to go more of a comical route.  Then we'll just have to see what happens after that.  My full-time gig is resuming tomorrow so I won't have as much time to devote to being Layla.Until then, stay tuned and happy reading!

The decision has been made!

When I finish the Second Chances Series and a companion novella for the Finding Harmony Series, I'm going to start fresh.  Well.  Sort of.Since it's very challenging to keep track of criss-crossing story lines and who knows who, I've decided that 2017 will be a year of stand alone novels.  No trilogy.  No series.  Just single novels.  But who will they be about?Well, there are quite a few characters that have had fleeting moments in my stories and some of them I would like to pursue further.

To continue or start fresh?

As I start the final book in the Second Chances Series, I am pondering where to go from here.  While I enjoy having all of my characters connected, I wonder if it's time to start fresh with new faces in a new place. I enjoy letting you see the marriages and births and engagements spawned from previous novels, but I worry that it may get old.  Alas, there is still plenty of time to make a decision.  I'm only a few chapters in to the current book and only have plans for a companion novella for the

Happy Friday the 13th!

In my world, good things happen on Friday the 13th! So today, I'm hoping to wrap up Seamless Redemption - Second Chances Series, Book 3. I penned the epilogue yesterday and my goal is to finish the blurb and cover art today.  Editing will still take at least a week or more though.  You see, since this is my side gig, everything falls on me and the willingness of my friends to help! I began this book on April 1st.  The idea for it was actually born at some point during the writing of the Finding

And we're off!

I took a break for about two weeks.  We went on a very relaxing family vacation for a few days where we were quite literally off the grid.  When we came home I hit the publish button on the last installment of the Finding Harmony Series.  Then, that same night, I opened a new word document and got started on the Second Chances Series again. After all the emotional turmoil of books 3 and 4 of the Finding Harmony Series, I am determined to lighten things up a bit.  Yes, there will still be drama

The end of another series!

The last word of the Finding Harmony Series has been written. As I look back on the band, I find it funny that Liam and Jude were nameless in "Catching My Heart."  Lee got the most attention, followed by Chase who played on "More Than Words" with Nicole and then Nick who had a one-liner after the band's first rehearsal with her. At the time, I had no idea that I'd end up writing a series about all of them!  Now that I have, and it's come to an end, I'm a little sad.  Not to mention the fact that

Redemption or destruction?

Well, it's no secret that I've written some pretty deplorable characters into my stories.  Some of them have gone from love-to-hate to love-to-love.  Like James Fox.  And I thoroughly enjoyed writing his story of redemption.  It was the most emotional story I had written at the time, but it worked for him.   Others, like Julian Parker, I feel no need to redeem.  The man destroyed Amelia's artwork.  That's just a no-no.  And my real life Amelia even agreed that there was no coming back from that.
