My first rant
Trying to land a literary agent is like trying to guess the ethnicity of the phone operators of Charter customer care. Nearly impossible if you ask me.
Okay, there’s a slim chance that my book isn’t as great as I think it is. Well, I use the word ‘great’ quite liberally. I don’t think my book is great. It’s YA paranormal romance. It’s okay. Good even. But great? No. Dan Brown is great. I’m not naïve enough to consider myself on that level.
So what am I bitching about? Books like Blue Bloods (Melissa de la Cruz) and Shatter me (Tahereh Mafi) that truly shame the written word. If these books made it through a lit agent to an editor and impressed a publisher, then a novel written with a crayon on a piece of cardboard by a toddler should be a shoe in.
My very first post :)
Blogging is not something I’d have ever thought of doing but after my friend showed me around the site, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. It makes sense. I love words. I love to write. Why wouldn’t I have a blog? But that train of thought lead me to think: “If I had a blog, what would I write?”
The conclusion seemed obvious. I’d write about writing. Shares some tips. Link some good articles. List some really good reads. Unload my misery when the rejection letters start piling up in my inbox from lit agents because I seem incapable of deleting them. Maybe I’ll even post some chapters and, if anyone ever wonders over and reads this blog, maybe get some feed back.
