Platespinning 101: Lesson #37 – Time is Money

[image error]If time is money, that means I’ve got 24 hours in my pocket to burn on any given day – well, except tomorrow when I’ll be forced to hand one of my hard-earned hours over to the DST (Daylight Savings Time) and get nothing back for it except a better lit morning.

That’s what I call a poor return on investment.

Married some twenty years to my Finance-major college sweetheart, here’s what this English major grad has learned: money management is pretty straight-forward.

Five Things Worse Than Having Stomach Flu

Sorry for the non-literary topic, but since I’ve had my arms wrapped around a toilet bowl for the past day or two, my mind has focused on little more than exacting revenge on the nurse who gave me my flu shot last fall.

“Yes, this one covers all strains,” she lied as I skeptically bared my arm.

Grrr.

[image error]Afterbeing roused from a deep sleep Sunday night by an urgent need to regurgitate what felt like everything I had eatenfor the past five years into said toilet bowl, my mind struggled to pinpoint...

Can You Hear Me Now?

Hello! Remember me? I know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me.

Ah, OK, that sounds familiar?Wellgood, because I’m very delinquent in anno...

Under Brave, See Autism

Two weeks ago, son #4, the one whofalls on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum, started college. For me, it was the fourth time I dropped a boy off at a faraway campus with vague promises of care packages and a reminder to buy a bus ticket for fall break. For my three older […]

A Sunny-side Up Summer

I know what you’re thinking…”Where’ve you been? It’s August, for Pete’s sake!” You’re right. This summer has flown by. Why it seems like just yesterday I was pulling my white capris and sandals from the nether regions of my closet. So much has happened in the last two months. Too much to write about really. […]

Book Baby Pic

As I promised in my Birthing a Book post, here is a picture of Flight Risk, my latest book-slash-baby. Isn’t it lovely? That’s Aubrey Thomas, a phobic travel writer at the Chicago Gazette, on the cover. When shemust chose between jumping to what she fears will be certain death from a skydiving static line or […]
