Cowboy Days
When I went to work on the GH Ranch in Alberta there was a very skilled cowboy called Jack Gill who rode as well as Ben Johnson...
and was a tough gentle man who took the time to show me a couple of things. In an essay "Father's Son" I call him "Rick Bean"--but he was Jack Gill, and he and Sid Cunningham were the top hands on some ranches that ran stock around James River Bridge, Caroline, Sundre. Impressive men. Found the picture of Jack (top) from his rodeo days. I think he also use to drive chuckwagon races at the Stampede, a wildly risky event, straight outta Ben Hur.

Is there a unique noun to apply to a herd of Pontiacs? A Poncho of Pontiacs? What about Ford trucks? A Flight of F-150's?

The Cadillac Collection Saved From the Junkyard Allen Murray, 44, a general contractor in Reno, Nev., on his Cadillac collection: "I bought my first Cadillac 15 years ago from a junkyard. I was on the Internet looking for parts and that’s when I met Robert Pelter. He lived in L.A., where he worked in a chrome shop, and he collected old Cadillacs. He sold me some parts, and over 15 years we became friends. He reminded me of Dr. Emmett Brown from “Back to the Future”...

Prada Marfa & the Beaver Flat Store
from Alex Emond: "Your photo of the Marfa Prada--
"--made me think of this fine retail establishment--
"Similar, in so many ways, to Harrod's of London or Abercrombie & Fitch in NYC. Only different . Would Harrod's carry curling brooms or fly paper? I doubt it."--AE p.s. the store is a short drive--and it helps to be lost--from Gouldtown, Saskatchewan.
