1962 Chrysler Saratoga
from Alex Emond in southern Saskatchewan: " I was just over in Sk. for a couple of weeks. Spring has arrived and things are greening up. The cars and trucks are popping up like crocuses. This Chrysler is pretty darn sweet, with it's push button transmission, big bench seats and really pleasing lines . I would say that it's a rare and luxurious muscle car. I had never seen one until now . This is in Assiniboia."--AE

Woody Guthrie and the People's Econoline
from Alex Emond: "Driving through Assiniboia, I saw this window van. Woody Guthrie never drove it, but it would have been a good fit. Oklahoma to Saskatchewan ... it was all the same dustbowl once. Cheers"-AE

1964 Land Rover Series iiA (for sale)
Driving downeast on a cool bright day I caught the L-R just outside of Camden Maine. That's Penobscot Bay in the background. Certainly looked like a nimble machine. The RH drive might be an issue, but not out in the desert.

Diamond T with mojo: Portland Maine
The truck has mojo. It's not pretty. A '47 Diamond T cab with a '37 Studebaker bed on top of a Chevy chassis with a Chevy 359 engine.

1973 Buick convertible
Saw the Buick for sale in Freeport Maine last weekend. May be good summer car material. I'm sorry I couldn't get the phone number. Maybe you can track it down via Craiglist or Hemmings. It was on the road from Freeport to Lisbon, State Route 136, about 2 miles west of I-295.

Joe Kendall's 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL
from Joe Kendall, owner of this car, commenting on links to other Autoliterate Fords and a couple of Chevy 409s. Joe is an administrator of the Parsonfield (Maine) Auto Show (check under current events on the link). The event happens in early August."The 62 is nice for an original car and 62 is the year of the 406. As you probably know 63 was the most popular year and 64 is the second most popular....... Unfortunately 62 isn't a real popular year for Ford (yet) at 50+ years in age it should start happening as they become harder to find regardless of body type. The 2 Dr HT and convertibles especially the Gal 500 and 500 XL are pretty well grabbed up and some of the prices are already making me swallow. The 409 is unique of course but its a Biscayne (sleeper), the equal to Ford's 300 series, full-size but the "salesman special". Manufacturers in the 40's and 50's made a business coupe, a lot of 'em with no rear seat, just space for the salesman's merchandise. As as high school kid with license in hand at the age of 16, I learned to pay attention to all the engine ID's embellishing the side of Chevy's, Fords, Mopar's--so you wouldn't get your doors blow off at the stop light!!!! Chevrolet 409, Watertown
We were driving from Lexington to Cambridge, doing research on our housing options for next year, when we caught the Chevy in Watertown. Nothing like a 409, though I guess the classic of the form is Biscayne stripper, not an Impala SS. Here's another Impala version from Maine. Thanks to Basha for the quick eye and the photography.

Camion; le Truck Driver
from a review of the Quebec film Camion ("Truck") at Cinemablographer: “Je me souviens.” The famous Québécois slogan, etched by Eugène-Étienne Taché into the stone of Parliament below Quebec’s coat of arms, roughly translates to “I remember.” The phrase has an ambiguous meaning for Anglophone Canadians—or it at least exists in the sense that we can grasp it, but never fully comprehend it—but it celebrates in a simple three word phrase a rich culture that exists within a larger nation. To remember means to keep something alive.

1961 Dodge Dart Pioneer
from Alex Emond, in southern Saskatchewan:"From the clear steering wheel , the odd corner tail lights and those Jetsonlike fins ... it is just so whacky that you have to wonder how it ever got past the concept stage...a car that I wasn't familiar with. It too is probably quite rare. Somebody , somewhere, would love this thing . Long and wide, like the Mississippi."---AECheck this link for more about the Forward-Look Chrysler cars and Virgil Exner, their designer. Autoliterate has posted another edition of this car, a Dart Seneca spotted in New Mexico.
