Book Review: I Take You by Eliza Kennedy
I did not think I was going to enjoy this book after reading the first two chapters. My uncertainty had a lot to do with the fact that the MC, Lily Wilder, is immediately introduced as a lewd sexaholic drug user who repeatedly cheats (without remorse) on her seemingly perfect, unsuspecting fiancé Will. Another thing that bothered me was that Lily isn’t even sure she wants to marry Will. After all, they are polar opposites—Lily an outgoing, sharp-tongued lawyer with a wild side and Will an in...

Book Review: Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge
Eeeny Meeny is a page-turning thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and often made me cringe with disgust and disbelief.
The story starts out with a man and a woman trapped in an empty, abandoned swimming pool. They have no recollection of how they got there. The last thing they remember is accepting a ride and hot coffee from a stranger on a cold, rainy night. Soon after realizing they are trapped, they find out that the only way to survive is to kill. One lives. One dies. That’s the...

Book Review – Mine: A Love Story by Scott Prussing
I purchased Mine: A Love Story without knowing anything about it because the cover appealed to me. I had recently finished reading You by Caroline Kepnes, so for some reason, I thought this book might be similar. (Deranged person obsesses over someone after one date–something like that.) Turns out, this book is a young adult novel about a young woman and the new relationships she develops during her first year in college. She makes some nice, reliable girlfriends, but runs into some trouble...
Book Review: Living in a Shadow by Deborah A. Bowman
Living in a Shadow details the collapse of a marriage and what occurs afterward. Bowman shifts between Marcy’s perspective and Rich’s perspective throughout the novel, which I enjoyed. It was quite sad and frustrating at times to see the things that they didn’t realize the other was thinking or feeling. The misconceptions they had about each other really got me thinking about my own marriage. Are there things that I think I know or understand about my husband that are completely off base? If...

Book Review: Wire (Pierce Securities #2) by Anne Conley
After reading and loving Anne Conley’s The Fixer Upper, I jumped at the chance to receive an ARC of Wire.
What surprised me most about Wire is how different it is from The Fixer Upper, which I would label as a dramatic romance with touches of humor (basically chick lit). Wire, on the other hand, is a unique blend of various genres including romance, humor, mystery and suspense, as well as insight in to the world of online gaming. In fact, there were times when I was so caught up in the myste...

Spiderworld by Richard Bunning
AIA Publishing has just released its fifth book, and in line with previous fiction titles, the book has a unique voice and a metaphysical bent. Spiderworld by Richard Bunning turns the tables on humans and spiders, and makes you think about humankind’s relationship with animals and with each other.
Not even the time-lord, Orlando Oversight, knows everything. But speculation can turn into a real future, and the L...

Book Review: More than a Moment by Kristin Albright
More than a Moment starts out with Julia’s boyfriend (Tyler) abruptly breaking up with her just before their senior year in high school. As if that isn’t enough, Julia is also a bit on the outs with her friends after being laid up with a horseback riding injury over the summer, and one of her so-called best friends appears to have grown much closer to Tyler than normal. Luckily, she strikes up a friendship with Lucas (a classmate and immigrant farmhand who works for Tyler’s parents) and, in...
