no coach should have to do math!
Quick! It’s game day and you're the head coach of a youth soccer team made up of NINE first graders. Only FOUR of your players can play at any one time. A game lasts 40-minutes, and each child must play at least 50% of the game. How much time should each child play, and how often should you schedule your substitutions? Ugh! :)
And this is why, as a coach, my ‘first words of the day’ on game days were often → “No coach should have to do math!”
So after many years of struggle, I finally decided to develop my own online ‘Equal Playing Time Calculator.’ Now I can concentrate on being a youth coach, and leave all that math stuff at home.
If you get a chance, check it out. And if you know someone you think it can help, please feel free to share.
So without further ado, I give you my free online Equal Playing Time Calculator...

A Christmas Tree in January
I've always been struck by the irony of seeing a once beloved Christmas tree sitting in the trash. You too?

Recently I had the pleasure of visiting HM Pearson Elementary School in Fauquier County, VA. After the author visit was over, In that brief moment between "getting into my car" and "turning the ignition," I couldn't help but utter aloud the following 'first words' before heading home → FANTASTIC KIDS! WONDERFUL TEACHERS! GREAT SCHOOL! AWESOME TIME!
THANK YOU HM Pearson Elementary School!!!

I Can't Find the Remote
Today I had the pleasure of watching my kids go BONKERS when they couldn't find the remote. I was inspired! So I wrote the following during the Redskins/Tampa game today.... I Can’t Find the Remote!I can’t find the remote and this isn’t a joke!
And the channel is stuck and I think I will croak!
‘Cause my Dad was last watching financial TeeVee,
and the channel is stuck on this CNBC.
Which is boring to me! Oh why can’t the TeeVee,
have been stuck on a channel like Nick or Disney.
Where there’s Spongebob or Jessie or Liv & Maddie,
oh right now I’m so mad at my dear old Daddy!
And this sure isn’t fair ‘cause I’ve looked everywhere,
the remote has just vanished right into thin air.
I’ve turned over the table and moved all the chairs.
Made a mess in the kitchen! The bathroom! The stairs!
I’ve thrown all of the pillows right off of the couch,
and when Mom sees this mess I know she’ll be a grouch.
But it’s worth it you see and I know she’ll agree,
that you need a remote when you watch a TeeVee.
HUH?
You mean to tell me that I just need to stand,
walk up to the TeeVee and just use my hand,
and push a small button to change the channel,
found right on the front of the TeeVee’s panel?
Well that’s not how it’s done in 2014!
You must have the remote while you stare at the screen!
So I’ll search and I’ll search and I’ll soon squeal with glee,
when I find the remote and can then watch TeeVee!
(Confession: I'm no different. I'll spend an hour looking for the remote instead of just walking over to the TV to change the channel myself. LOL! Am I the only one?)

First Words....We're Now on kindle!
My old man is full of sage advice. And recently he said to me, "Greyson, never make it hard for someone to read your book." Pretty wise words, if you ask me. So in addition to print, the book's now available on Kindle, too! Hope you like it. Follow this link here to see it on Amazon! ----> amzn.to/1CUKEzk
