Shyden Monastery
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth; but that which is good and true to the use of edifying and uplifting others."
- Excerpt from the Shyden Oath, taken before The Path to Freedom

...They could see the monastery from a distance. It was situated near the base of a mountain that was small in comparison to all the other mountains that they passed on their way. The stone buildings rose from the mountain base like carefully carved square pillars of stone. Windows and doors were laid out in uniform manner at intervals across the many different buildings that made up the whole monastery. Staircases were carefully carved from stone, surrounding some of the taller structures on each side, like square snakes slowly and methodically circling the buildings. The rooftops were made of blue tiles arrayed atop elongated triangular rooftops with s-like buttress going from one end to the other and curving upwards at the jutting out points of the rooftops. Banners mounted on double sticks atop some of the taller towers fluttered in the breeze. They depicted a yellow pathway leading up towards two mountains with a yellow sun rising between the two mountains against a blue background.“The Shyden Monastery!” Irrash said as the road they were traveling broke off onto a smaller road that led up to the path that wound up the staircase to the monastery...

Tales of Lyrridia: Volume II Preview
Get ready for the much anticipated sequel to the first Tales of Lyrridia!
Introducing Volume II (coming soon!)
Here is an exclusive sneak peek!________________________________________________________ “We are here,” The old woman said, “Lyeund, help keep him on his feet and I will fetch Doyenne Varnetta.”Banet looked up and shifted his weight while Lyeund switched sides and put his good arm around her neck. Oraku and goldenlurch came to his nose again and her skin on his skin made him blush once more; making him momentarily forget his pain. With the pain subsiding for a few moments he was able to focus on his surroundings. It was a large campsite spread out over a wide expanse of open forest. Several large pack animals were tied off nearby, munching on brush. There were a number of large tents and smaller ones. Firepits stacked with wood were located by some of the larger tents, waiting to be lit later in the night when they would be needed for light and cooking. Women in robes and attire like Lyeund and Marianne walked to and fro about the campsites, cleaning, and performing tasks of various natures. Some were sitting in small circles, talking and mending torn clothing, others stood over tables, chopping food up and preparing the days meals.

A Beautiful City
Sulendald was a beautiful city.
It lay in a low valley, in Itherin, near the Wildlands. A large river ran through the valley. A bridge crossed the river, from a hill, to the main entrance of Sulendald. In the east, lay rolling wooded hills, which grew thicker the further east one traveled. Mountains and forests lay beyond that, with only a few sure outposts here and there until only the Wildlands reigned. It was a well defended city, tall stone walls jutted from the grassy valley floor below, surrounding the buildings within. A number of small towns, villages, and farmlands dotted the nearby lands in the west. From afar one could see the main fortress in the city center, and the spiraling of roads spinning outward to the buildings and houses around it. Another long bridge led to a sharp curve in the wide river, where a number of docks spread out like fingers on a hand. Fishing boats and large river barges docked here, filling up with trade goods to bring down river for selling to other Freeland cities. Despite its nearness to the Wildlands and the dangers therein, it was a prosperous and bright city.

The Precipice

He stood upon the precipice, the wind blowing through his silver hair. His skin was like pale ivory, his ears long and ending in a point. He clutched the center of his chest, bowing his head slightly; eyes closed. He was garbed in faded green robes, carefully stitched with tiny gold leaves. They rustled in the breeze as well.A soft blue glow began emanating from his torso, small at first, but growing in size and intensity.“I can help them no longer, Exalted One. Please, let me walk this path.”He said aloud. His voice was airy and smooth. There was a tinkling sound. An answer? The light grew brighter. The figure fell to his knees, clutching his chest more tightly. The wind began to pick up swirling around him. The light surrounded the elf now, completely enveloping him in a bubble. The wind began moving faster, whipping around the globe of light. Dust and pebbles nearby began to get caught up in its hold. “Thank you.” The figure whispered. Then he stood. And stepped off the cliff. But he did not fall. He floated, being pulled up by the light. His skin began to glow. He opened his eyes. His blue pupils were already fading. Light began to shine through the whiteness.“Thank you!” The elf shouted.Light shot out of his fingertips, his toes, and his eyes, beaming brightly. He began to rise into the air, higher and higher. His back arched and he raised his head back, looking up to the sky.The wind whipped. The light grew. Finally there was a flash of white. And the figure was gone. The air was still.A bird chirped in a nearby tree...

Order of the Leaf
“As to all living things, heal and preserve; or at least to do no harm.”
- Excerpt from the Vow
The Order of the Leaf
Circa 105 under the Seal of the Dueling Siblings
...“A Leaf in the Wind: Chronicles of the Healing Order,” she read the title in gold lettering.Marc wanted to know more.“It is quite an exclusive group, comprised entirely of women,” Eleanor said, thumbing through the pages, she paused at a certain point and read aloud. “They are devoted to the healing arts, using a unique blend of natural and magical properties and techniques in their learning and practice. It is believed they founded their Order under the Terragur banner but in the cycles after Terragur passed and other rulers threatened to disband their organization for whatever reasons, they withdrew from The Noble Kingdom. Since that time they have wandered the lands. Wherever they go they stay only long enough to acquire new healing practices from that region, and move on. To this day it is believed that their knowledge of the healing arts is matched by none, and yet they are very selective in both whom they allow to join their order, and to those whom they administer their services. Some say they are so reclusive because they practice ancient dark magic, others say they have become withdrawn in their sharing of knowledge because in the past their good arts have been used for evil purposes...
