A little bit different for me
The release of Imitation of Life is a little more than a week away. When I wrote Perfect a few years ago I wanted to write Benny and Gino's book but they weren't speaking to me. I started and stopped their story so many times. And since I don't plot, Benny just popped up in Broken Silence and suddenly, his and Gino's story unfolded. For an author, there is nothing better than that feeling of the story opening up.
Of course there was no intention of starting a series and realistically maybe Imitation of Life belongs with Perfect in the Soulmates series but that's what I love about writing. I love weaving characters in and out of my different series.
(Hint-you'll see some old favorites from other books in Imitation of Life)
Imitation of Life is much more angsty that my usual books-probably the angstiest book since A Walk through Fire. But both Gino and Benny have suffered trauma in their lives that only the other can help heal. That's the beauty of romance-finding that one person who helps make it right. Benny may have thought he never had a chance with Gino but he didn't know what Gino really needed. Gino never thought he was good enough for Benny but he didn't know what Benny had to go through to get where he was.
Two halves making a whole. That's why i love writing romance.

Broken Silence and Poetry
When i was a child, I wanted to be a writer or a poet. In school I wrote a poem about the color brown that my teacher entered in a national poetry contest (I have no idea which and we are talking back in 1969, so...yeah...) It didn't win, BUT I always loved writing and took several poetry classes in college.
The idea for Broken Silence started as a late night conversation with a reader friend who urged me to write a smutty professor/student story and I thought, "sure, why not." But of course I can't do anything as planned and what started out as something a little naughty turned into probably my most romantic book yet. I mean it's got two guys reciting poetry to each other. Big sighs.
When I started writing Broken Silence, I had no idea Foster would be a poetry professor. I knew what he wouldn't be: MATH. Because, as Justin says, "I can't do that shit." So I dusted off my poetry brain and came up with the poems for Broken Silence. They are all original and very personal to me. I've always believed the written word is one of the most powerful tools we humans have. Being able to put our feelings down on paper, when speaking them out loud might be too personal gives us the ability to work through emotions that might otherwise overwhelm us. Poetry has that ability.
Justin finds that outlet in poetry. Foster regains his love for writing when he alows himself to acknowledge his desire for Justin. I hope when you read Broken Silence you enjoy the poems.

The Coincidence is coming.
The idea for The Coincidence was the result of a conversation with my daughter. Her best friend's boyfriend broke up with her and she was devastated. He wasn't a good boyfriend—he never came to help her if she was sick or needed support. but she didn't want to be alone. She's rather have a bad boyfriend than none at all.
Once they broke up, she moped about for weeks until her roommate got fed up with her said she fixed her up with a guy on line. After refusing over and over again, she agreed to go out with him. The night of their first date, they met by the elevator, where they realized they lived in the same building on the same floor. In NYC that is the craziest of coincidences and I knew right then I wanted to write this story.
Next week I'll post a little more background of the story.

Austin, Book one of the new Man Up series is now out!
I'm thrilled to bring you this new series about club dancers who are more than what meets the eye. Each book will concentrate on a different couple but with Austin, I left you at a tiny cliffhanger before the full length book of Rhoades. And if you've read me, you know that the characters from each book appear throughout the entire series.
Austin is only in one POV but Rhoades—Undeniable is in both POV's. Still first person, which is another new thing for me. I've never written a first person series. I'm looking forward to it.
Austin is only 99 cents and free to borrow in Kindle Unlimited, so I hope you give it a try!!

A little teaser from Perfect, releasing soon
At around six thirty, his desk phone buzzed. “Yeah?”
“Blake here to see you?”
His pulse sped up. “Be right there.” Jeremy ran a hand through his hair and walked out of his office to the front desk. In his suit and tie and dark wool overcoat, Blake looked sexy and sophisticated. Jeremy felt like an underdressed slob in his sweats and T-shirt. His heart pounded, and his palms turned sweaty. What the hell was happening to him?
“Hey. I’m here.”
When their eyes met, Blake’s face lit up, and he smiled. “Hi. This place is great. I can’t believe you started it from scratch.”
“Yep. I did.” Seeing the curious glances of both Benny and Gino, Jeremy took Blake’s hand in his. “Guys. This is my boyfriend, Blake. Blake.” He squeezed Blake’s hand. “The dark-haired guy is Gino, and the redhead is Benny. They’re my right-hand men.”
“Nice to meet you both.”
Gino gaped at him. “Boyfriend? You never said you were even dating anyone.”
“I didn’t realize I owed you an explanation.” Jeremy chuckled and shook his head. “Blake and I are going back to my office, so unless it’s my brother or the mayor, no interruptions. Got it?”
They nodded, staring at him with wide, shocked eyes, but he ignored them and pulled Blake along, anxious to be alone with him.
He pushed Blake into his office and slammed the door shut behind him, locking it. “Finally. I’ve been waiting all day to do this.”
He covered Blake’s mouth with his and kissed him deep and hard, his tongue pressing at the seam of Blake’s lips. For a moment, Blake stiffened, but when Jeremy slipped his tongue inside, Blake grabbed on to his shoulder and began to kiss him back with equal fervor.
“Mmmm. That’s better.” His hands sure and steady, Jeremy first pushed off Blake’s coat and suit jacket, then loosened his tie. “Wanna know what sexy fantasies I’ve been having all day since you said you were coming over?”
Blake stared at him, wild-eyed and panting. “Yeah. Tell me.”
“You, bent over my sofa, naked. Me fucking you, while outside people are walking by. Maybe they hear us, maybe they don’t.”
He watched Blake’s eyes glaze over with lust. Jeremy was more than willing to make Blake’s fantasy a reality. Getting him off in semi-public was hot as hell, and the desire Jeremy stemmed all day burst free. He wanted Blake. Now.
“Take off everything.”
Breathing heavily, Blake licked his lips. “But what if someone needs you? They’ll knock on the door and—”
“And I won’t answer because I’ll be too busy being inside you. Come on. Get naked.” He pulled off his T-shirt and yanked down his sweats, his dick already hard and aching. Blake’s gaze zeroed in on his erection, and Jeremy tugged his briefs past his hips, letting his dick swing free. “I can’t wait much longer.”
“Yeah, okay.” Blake rushed through the rest of his clothes, and Jeremy knew how turned on he was by the fact that he didn’t hang them up neatly but left them in a pile on the floor. At the sight of Blake’s lean-muscled torso, all thoughts fled from Jeremy’s brain except making love to him.
