The Cast of...Clint Wallace

Let's meet Clint Wallace. Clint is an orphan, who lived on the streets of Chicago when he was a boy. His parents were killed in a car accident that he was also injured in. That was the first time he realized he wasn't like everyone else. He has since turned his life around and helps run a diner for a couple who also let him live in the apartment above the diner. When he starts having blackouts and waking up next to dismembered corpses of animals he naturally starts to freak out. It is only after he is once again injured and taken to the hospital that he meets a Doctor who will lead him to understand what has been happening to him. When he discovers the truth though, he wants nothing more than to rid himself of it.Next character we will meet will be Kat.Till next time.

The Cast of...Kestrel

Next and counter-part to Sylvanis is her rival, Kestrel. Kestrel is the leader of the Druids who believed that civilization should be destroyed and controlled so that nature could be safe. She waged war against the other Druids and lost. She managed to find a way to come back though, and now, in present time, she has awoken and is gathering her forces to wage war again. In Kestrel's mind, what she is doing is just and right and the only way that she can do what she was tasked with doing, keeping nature safe. She is intelligent and beautiful, but cold and ruthless. With the help of her Weres that have also been re-awoken now, she will try to succeed where she had failed two millennia ago.Next, we will meet the new Trues, starting with Clint.

The Cast of, "The Awakening: Part One"

I decided I should take some time to introduce those who haven't read, "The Awakening: Part One" yet, the key players... the cast, for lack of a better term. First off, let's introduce one of the Saga's main protagonist. Sylvanis.Sylvanis is the person who is depicted on the cover. She is a druidess from over two millennia ago. She was the leader of a group of druids who believed that nature and civilization could live side by side, with the guidance of the druids.Because of the war with Kestrel, she was forced to sacrifice everything in order to stop Kestrel from continuing and possibly winning the war some time in the future. Neither one had any idea as to how far in the future their actions would lead them. Due to the nature of the spell Sylvanis cast to thwart Kestrel's schemes, she is no longer as powerful as she once was and her only hope now lies in the ancestors of the Trues, the original Lycans that led her army, to come to her aid, if and when Kestrel comes looking for her.She had never wanted this war with Kestrel, but she was forced to fight it, and fight it she did. She had defeated Kestrel, or at least she thought she did. Now she is being forced to fight this war all over again, in a time that is very much different than what she knows. She must defeat Kestrel for good this time.

How I wrote, "The Awakening"

I have had many people ask me why I have multiple POV in "The Awakening: Part One" so I thought I would take this time to elaborate at how and why I wrote "The Awakening: Part One" the way I did. First, when I came up with the idea of dealing with lycanthropes I was doing a lot with them on my D&D campaign I was DMing. In dungeons and dragons they introduce other lycans besides your usual werewolf that everyone knows and uses. They introduce many of the ones I decided to use in the series and are really what inspired me to use them.Next, I took inspiration from comic books and cartoon shows I watched as a kid. I always liked how they brought a group of people together, like avengers, thundercats, silverhawks or justice league and how you got to know each of them first and then they came together to fight. So I wanted to write something where you have multiple "main" characters who you were introduced to and then were thrown together in a conflict, but I didn't just do this with the good guys, but also with the bad guys. This way, you get to know each of them, their motivations, their weaknesses, their strengths, their pasts. You get to understand them and why they are the way they are. So I created the characters, or they created themselves as I wrote, and, "The Awakening" was born. I had always intended the series to be a three part story, which it still will be, but there is going to be more than three books. The main part of each I had titled a long time ago. "The Awakening" is first, then "The Gathering" and finally "The War." I don't know if each book will have two parts, or three even, it's hard to say as I have only just started writing, "The Gathering" so we will have to see.Until next time...
