I write historical fiction, so I am fortunate to be only a 20 minute train journey from London, which offers so many possibilities for research about times past. So many things spark my imagination. During the last two years I took an open tour bus ride around London. Amongst the sky scrapers and modern buildings Old London can be discovered, including the street which J.K.Rowling used as a model for Diagon Alley in her Harry Potter series.

For as long as I can remember, I enjoyed studying history, reading historical non-fiction, historical fiction and its sub-genres. I enjoy novels in which the characters’ behaviour is appropriate for the era in which they lived.

The more I read the more fascinated I become, and the more aware of the gulf b

Joy,

Good gracious, I just found your e-mail written a year ago. I now have ten romantic historical novels, rich in interesting facts, published. I suggest you either read Yvonne Lady of Cassio, my medieval novel or Far Beyond Rubies. If you would still like to read one, I suggest you visit my website to read the first chapters and choose which one you like.

So sorry, I haven't read your novel and, at the moment, I am snowed under with books on my to review list.

With regard to writing traditional historical fiction I do not have writer's block. In fact, I have more than enough ideas for future novels.

However, I suffer from writer's block when, for example, my writer's group is set the challenge of writing flash fiction on a particular subject.

This week's topic is Beyond The Gate. Which gate, I am asking myself. Iron gates, pearly gates, locked gates, broken gates and where does one particular gate lead to? Who goes beyond the gate? Yes, I'm suffering from writer's block.(less)

“The chances of satisfying my renewed appetite for literary exchanges increased once I began to visit the library more frequently and make my way from the hotel to City Lights Bookstore at 261 Columbus Avenue. For all I was learning about the role its founder, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, had played in helping to nurture, promote, and sustain the talented souls who made the Beat Movement possible, City Lights became a kind of sacred space for me.”

Rosemary Morris Aberjhani,

Everyone is inspired by different things.

I am lucky because my ideas would take several lifetimes to write and writing is one of my joys in life,

All the best,
