Take a Chance

Many years ago, I saw a human interest commentary on the news that tugged at my heartstrings.

A Depositphotos_22806350_xslittle boy in England released a helium balloon with a note inside requesting a pen pal. I stopped to watch the pure innocence and organic musings of the child.

His balloon with the note was not only found, he also received a letter. Both happenings were exciting, but paled in comparison to who his new pen pal was. The Queen, herself, found the balloon in her garden and wrote the boy.

I could only speculate about his thoughts as he let the balloon soar into the air. He likely thought his efforts would be rewarded, and I wondered if doubt entered his mind. Or does doubt cloud the mind of adults only? Maybe he thought his new pen pal would be a child just like him, or a mail carrier, or Beckham…that’s who I would have wanted to find my balloon. Often I wondered if he dreamed big at all. Big to a child is simpler than big for us greedy adults. Did his humility and innocence fuel his balloon to drift toward the biggest England could offer?

You visiting my site and reading my book is my proverbial balloon. Though, I cannot claim the innocence of a child. I can dream. I don’t need the Queen of England for my dreams to come true; I only need you.

Thank you for your support, A. R. Senault

My All Time Favorite Book Quote

“Adversity is like a strong wind.  I don’t mean just that it holds us back from places we might otherwise go.  It also tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that afterward we see ourselves as we really are, and not merely as we might like to be.”   Arthur Golden from Memoirs of a Geisha
