Review: IU HEREH World Tour Concert – Rosemont, IL
On July 25th, Lee Ji Eun aka IU arrived at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL for her IU HEREH World Tour Concert. BTSCelebs attended the first half of the show (due to a family emergency) and was absolutely thrilled during the first hour. IU is a K-pop delight with her innate talent and sparkling personality. A massive audience of tens of thousands gathered to greet the star who I consider to be South Korea’s Taylor Swift.
She kicked off the show with her music video “Shopper” and quickly performed a round of fan favorites and hits. “BBIBBI” was the first of my personal favorites she danced to with a large group of gifted dancers. Her numbers alternated between male, female dancers and even precious children performed.
IU didn’t forget to show love to her supporters by giving a special gift to every audience member. She shared that her mom actually put together an adorable tour keychain, photo, etc. She didn’t stop there! IU continued to give gifts to fans like a coin kissed by her and a bouquet of flowers.
Some of my personal song favorites from that first hour were “Celebrity,” “Blueming,” “Eight” and “I Stan U.” IU even encouraged the audience to be apart of the “Blueming” song by showing off their fan lightsticks (that were flower-shaped).
The very beginning of the IU HEREH World Tour Concert in Rosemont was magical. As a longtime fan, I was overjoyed that she was holding a concert near my hometown. And the famed singer, songwriter, and actress did not disappoint. Please come back soon, IU! The Chicago area loves you.
Photos coming soon!

Review: Disney’s Descendants: The Rise of Red
Descendants: The Rise of Red (Disney/ Quantrell Colbert) Rita Ora
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” heads to Disney+ on July 12th, 2024. This fantasy musical is more of a spin-off than a continuation of the three previous films. It boasts a host of new characters and a unique story. In the beginning of the movie, the narrator and new principal Uma (China Anne McClain) fills viewers in on the whereabouts of Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Jay (Booboo Stewart), and Ben (Mitchell Hope). There is even a respectable moment honoring Carlos (Cameron Boyce).
The majority of “Descendants: The Rise of Red” centers on Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora) reign of terror. After her daughter Red (Kylie Cantrall) is invited to attend Uma’s school Auradon Prep, the Queen uses the invite as a way to get revenge for an evil prank she fell victim to while attending high school there. It is up to her daughter Red and Chloe Charming (Malia Baker), Cinderella (Brandy) and King Charming’s (Paolo Montalban) daughter, to reverse the curse by going back in time and possibly changing the Queen’s vengeful spirit. The girls face off with Ursula’s sister Uliana (Dara Renee) and struggle to understand the solid friendship between the Young Queen of Hearts called Bridget (Ruby Rose Turner) and a Young Cinderella named Ella (Morgan Dudley) and where things went terribly wrong. Uliana is the biggest villain and school bully with a mastermind spell against the Young Queen of Hearts. Can Red and Chloe stop Uliana and her sinister crew from ruining the Queen’s positive teenage personality? They’ll do everything in their power to right the wrong while hopefully making the present a pleasant place for all the characters to exist.
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” has somewhat less magic in the form of wordy spells, but it still delivers in the fantasy department. Magic exists in the form of surprising scenes and instant transformations. The music department is a mixture of R&B, Lin-Manuel Miranda styled “Hamilton” rap, and a sprinkle of pop/soft rock. Cinderella and King Charming even share a sweet dance to an acapella version of the classic song “So This is Love” (from the soundtrack of the 1950s Disney film “Cinderella).” All of the actors did a fantastic job in their roles! No matter the part, everyone was equally talented. I’m a longtime fan of Disney feature films and DCOMS, and I feel this musical was the best in the “Descendants” series – mainly for the absence of poetic spells. However, I would love for Disney to do away with spells for good or evil. The company can place a new spin on things and make movies a little more simple and enjoyable for children of all ages.
“Descendants: The Rise of Red” premieres on July 12th, 2024 on Disney+.

Kenny & Claire Debut With “Upon The Storm,” Produced By Grammy Award-Winner Mitch Dane
Recording artists/worship leaders Kenny & Claire are ready to make their official debut with a full-length album titled “Upon The Storm” on July 19th, 2024. The new heartfelt project, which was produced by Grammy award-winner Mitch Dane, is a good blend of originals and hymns, according to a recent Turning Point Media Relations Inc. press release.
Check out the first single “God Moves (Upon The Storm)” from the upcoming project below:
Kenny: “Though we do not always understand why God does what He does, we recognize that He is a God of mercy, and we are people who need mercy. That’s one of the reasons the lyric, ‘behind a frowning providence He hides a smiling face,’ in ‘God Moves (Upon the Storm)’ is so powerful. This world is dark and stormy and full of struggle, yet behind that struggle, God—in His kindness—watches us and intends our fight through these struggles for our good…. We want to be singing the same songs that saints who have gone before us sang. There’s a comfort in knowing that brothers and sisters who ended their race well sang these songs, and that they are in the Great Cloud of Witnesses encouraging us to cast off the weight of sin and finish well.”
Claire: “In our own struggles with suffering—particularly related to Kenny’s health—we have continually returned to the promises of Scripture as well as the lyrics of old hymns, Claire says. “’God Moves (Upon the Storm)’ reminds us of the truth of His sovereignty over all things, including a scary diagnosis. The humbling reality is that we do not fully understand the majesty of the Lord and that what He allows can sometimes be so very gut wrenching, but He is indeed faithful and trustworthy. This song lifts our eyes to God while recognizing the reality of life’s storms… Our hope is that this album is a lighthouse pointing to the majesty, power, sovereignty, and holiness of the Lord in the midst of the reality of life’s storms, Through our own experiences, we’ve needed songs that point our hearts to Christ and help us rest in His glorious Gospel. We want the music we share to be songs we need ourselves, as 2 Corinthians 1:4 says, songs that ‘…comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.’”

Descendants: The Rise of Red (Disney/Quantrell Colbert) Brandy, Malia Baker, Paolo Montalban“Descendants: The Rise of Red” is coming soon, and BTSCelebs plans to give you a complete review!
After watching the first three films, I’m well-acquainted with the fantasy characters and magical tale. I look forward to an all new story featuring my favorite 90s couple Cinderella (Brandy) and King Charming’s (Paolo Montalban). It should be exciting to see them reunited and enter the Disney world made famous by Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Jay (Booboo Stewart), and Carlos (the late Cameron Boyce).
Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora) and Cinderella and King Charming’s descendants, Red (Kylie Cantrall) and Chloe Charming (Malia Baker), are leading this film, and I can’t wait to go along for the ride. Check out the trailer below and return to BTSCelebs next month for the review!

Legendary Group Hanson Teases Fall Tour
View this post on InstagramA post shared by HANSON (@hanson)
Hanson plans to tour stateside to celebrate 20 years as an indie band! The brothers released their first independent album “Underneath” in 2004, and they have enjoyed music freedom ever since. Hanson wants fans to join the anniversary celebration this fall as they visit Illinois, Maryland, Georgia, California and more! Check out the detailed poster above.
Besides S Club 7, Hanson was probably one of the very first mainstream bands I became a fan of. I proudly owned the Middle of Nowhere and This Time Around albums. Even though I have never seen them perform live, this band will always be a special part of my childhood. Watch a new version of one of their songs here –

Patricia Raybon‘s “Truth Be Told” book is a thrill from beginning to end!

The puzzling case lands her on the campus of Saxton Theological Institute as she investigates the president of the school and his mysterious team of war buddies.
