My Three New Poetry Chapbooks in 2023!
It is most certainly not every year that I end up having three different poetry chapbooks published by three different small presses, but that happened in 2023 and for that I am excited and grateful.
This year had its sadness and difficulties and I feel like I didn't write enough new poetry, but I was lucky enough to have some of my poetry published within literary magazines and inside these three darkly delightful little books.Thank you to the people and small presses that believe in me and my poetry.
"red flames burning out" was published by Grey Book Press in April 2023 (find out more here http://www.greybookpress.com/2023/04/07/internal-suffocation/)
"Contorted Doom Conveyor" was published by Gutter Snob Books in July 2023 (find out more here - https://www.magicaljeep.com/product/doom/140)
"Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards" was very recently published by Ethel Zine & Micro-Press in December 2023 (find out more here - https://www.ethelzine.com/shop/your-mouth-is-moving-backwards-by-juliet-cook)

A few lines from (and a few more photos of) my new poetry chapbook, "Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards"...
can pretend I don't see it either. Another glass
figurine stained with blood, but we keep on pretending
it's red paint, at least until it dries. The color quietly darkens,
then starts cracking into broken pieces. But I didn't throw it
directly at anyone's face. I didn't throw it on the floor."
in my poem "Glass Figurines Stained With Blood", in my new poetry chapbook, "Your Mouth Is Moving Backwards" (published by Ethel Zine & Micro Press, December 2023).
You can find out more about and/or acquire a copy of this chap for yourself or a friend via the links below (or if you'd like to acquire a copy directly from me, let me know...)...:

"Damned ecosystem inside
a malformed crayfish crawling out of
this doll's mouth.
The doll's insecticidal eyes.
The doll's hysterical orifices.
The doll's tiny doom portal opening."

whileyou watched the female lion bite deep

Happy first day of December! "Your Mouth is Moving Backwards" (my new poetry chapbook) is now available!
is connected with the speed of the ceiling fan.
It turns itself off and on, grows into an over rotating form of abuse.
A repetitive malformation in which
her arms are forced behind her back in bed again.
Her sheets are ripped off to strangle her."
(in the poem "Invaded Cores")

Happy first day of December 2023! I am extremely excited, delighted, and thrilled to have my new poetry chapbook, "Your Mouth isMoving Backwards" officially available from the wonderful independent press,Ethel Zine & Micro Press, as of today!
Just in time for the holidays and the New Year, at least for those of you whohave peculiarly quirky gift lists involving strange, dark, emotionally twistedpoetry. The 28 poems in this collection are filled with internal and external violenceand abuse, chaotic horror and entrapment, humans trapped behind walls or inbeds, dolls thrown down the stairs and hiding in partially contained places, dolls pretending to be humans, humans pretending to be dolls, humans fusedtogether with evil.
Some of the inspiration for some of the poems partlyderived from Twin Peaks. 15 poems in the collection have the title "FLESHWORLD", which comes from the name of a magazine in Twin Peaks. But thereare other titles too and other inspirations and insinuations too, including my own experiences, thoughts, and feelings doused into dark red poetry.

with an open wound of red paralysis
with a never ending void of broken glass
hovering above the child's doll.
Then the doll gave birth
to another headless crustacean
and another, and another and yet another ad infinitum."

The Moon looking a bit purple-ish...
The moon near the beginning of its latest Waning gibbous phase, near the end of November 2023, looking a bit purple-ish...I'm glad to remain alive at this time of year or any time of year, but this is not my favorite time of year. In fact, it's been my least favorite time of year (November and December, that is), for years now. I feel like it's filled with assumptions that we're all into the same sort of things. I'm not religious - I'm not particularly into standard holiday traditions - I'm not particularly into group events (other than occasional poetry-oriented events) and so on.I'm not into the cold weather part of the season (although glittery snow can be pretty before it gets dirty) or the holiday assumptions that seem to combine traditions and religions and corporate expenditures (as though giving involves spending money) and other such assumptions that everyone's into the same sort of traditions, celebrations, and rituals. But the moon and purple causes me to feel a bit better. You can be into whatever you're into and so can I.I'm into poetry, art, music, non-mainstream, non-traditional, purple, (and all of that stuff in various different varieties and hues) and genuine one-on-one interactions (among many other things).More poetry coming very soon, but for now, here is the moon.
