F/M Sunday -- Katy in Control by Grant Antrews

Today for F/M Sunday I'm hosting Grant Antrews on a blog tour for his new book, Katy in Control.
Grant writes very fine F/M erotica. In fact these are romances, only with an F/M orientation, which is singularly unique. In fact, I know of no other author that writes romances from an F/M perspective. The only one that comes to mind is Anne Rice's Exit to Eden. The Amazon link is HERE.

There are prizes to be given away too. Go here:

Here is an excerpt:

**
Toward the end, he strained against his bonds, clearly seeking any molecule of relief that might be available, and there was none. Mistress was punishing him now. The foreplay had been fun, but this was something far more serious. At the twenty-seventh cut of the rattan cane, we heard him whine slightly and I was about to intervene, but then the magic of S&M washed over him.
You could see it! Mistress Mary whispered, “He’s transcending.” His muscles seemed to relax. I watched him suck in a chestful of air and grit his teeth. Surprisingly, he found a way to flex his buttocks, to separate them and offer Mistress a broader, more available target. His breathing became steadier. She tapped him low, in the sensitive crease where his buttocks met the thighs, drew back, and delivered a vicious blow. He stiffened visibly, he had felt it to his soul, but he strained to defy it and offer himself more blatantly than ever.
She struck again, just a fraction of an inch below the last. He grunted deep inside but strained to welcome another. It had become a contest, and I was simply amazed. Maria hefted her wicked implement, lifted it high overhead, and went up on tiptoes as if serving a tennis ball, and then she exploded into action and delivered a stroke that brought a squeal from my lover’s lips. Once again, he struggled to defy it, to offer his flesh up for more. And again, and yet again.
Mistress Mary paused and touched David’s shoulder with her gloved fingers.
“That was thirty-three, David. You’re nearly done. You’re resilience is astounding, my dear! I’m going to deliver the last three in quick succession. They will hurt you, of course, but then it will be over. I’m going to ask Mistress Katherine to apply your punishment strokes, and I’ll suggest she go back to the strap instead of the cane. I’m near to drawing blood, David, but I won’t let that happen. Can you gather yourself and ask me to finish?”
He shivered. Fastened as he was, I couldn’t believe his body could move so much. But he spoke clearly, once again almost defying her. “Please finish it, Mistress Mary. I am trying!”
The last sounded forced. He must be suffering terribly!
She was merciless. I thought she would lighten her attack, but no. Each of the last three was delivered viciously, the cane shrieking as it sliced through the air and smacked home like a pistol shot. David squirmed, struggling to regain his composure. She gave him no time as another cruel cut fell across his wounded bottom, and then a third. He groaned, clearly struggling. Mistress Mary looked to me, strutting slightly, smiling as she placed the cane in its rack. “How many penalty strokes has he earned, JoAnne?” Her voice boomed in the quiet chamber.
“Eight, Mistress.” JoAnne’s voice was a whisper.
“Eight, Mistress Katherine. With the leather strap, full across his bottom.”
I hesitated. I was so deep in my reverie, so close to climax, so fascinated at the sight of my husband’s mottled, wounded body that I didn’t think I could move.
“Katherine?” Mistress was eager to see me perform.
“I think he’s had enough, Mistress.” I did not want him injured.
“David, you have earned eight penalty strokes. Your lover wants to let you off. What do you want?”
“I want them, Mistress Mary. Please, Katy!” It was a whisper through clenched teeth. He needed to see it through.
“Twelve, Katherine. He was instructed to address you as Mistress. You must punish disobedience, girl. Especially this early in his training.” She brought the strap and held out the wooden handle.**

Spanking Erotica vs. Spanking Romance

October marks the 2nd anniversary of my foray into publishing and I’d like to take a step back and share a few things that I have discovered about it. For a number of years, 1999-2012, I wrote “spanking stories.” I put them up on several sites that shared those kinds of things: Our Castle, BDSMLibrary, USENET, and a few others. You can probably still find my old Geocities site using the wayback machine, and I left some samples up at LSF that are still there. Then, late in 2012 I discovered KDP and started to publish stuff I’d written in years past. These were mostly short stories. I think the spanking story is well suited to the short story format, but novelettes (15,000 words) and novellas (25,000-40,000 words) can work as well. With novels it’s harder, because at that length you need something else to sustain the story. This is where the spanking romance comes in.
If you arrived from Mars yesterday, you might think the whole spanking/BDSM romance book thing was launched by 50SOG, but you’d be dead wrong. The spanking romance has actually been around for quite some time. Blushing Books and others were publishing these types of books twenty years ago.
So what exactly is a “spanking romance?” The answer is easy. It’s a romantic novel, just like the Harlequin romances your Aunt Betty reads, only -- there is explicit sex AND there is spanking (along with other kinks). The spanking incidents usually occur between the hero and the heroine in the context of a romantic relationship that is either forming or has formed. But spanking scenes can also occur in the context of the heroine falling into the evil clutches of the villain (common in Regency and in Medieval romances). So why does the hunky alpha guy spank the heroine? It’s usually because she disobeys him and puts herself in some sort of peril. But it can also be because she has done something injurious to him or someone else or is disobedient at a critical time. When a romance is well constructed, these scenes flow naturally from the plot, and the reader expects that the heroine, at this point in the story, surely deserves or needs a good spanking. That’s when it works best. These books tend to be novel length. However a short novel, anywhere from 40,000 to 60,000 words, works pretty well. This length is necessary to fully develop a plot that mixes some external conflict and the growth of the relationship with the steamier elements. That’s because the main thrust of the novel is the romantic relationship. The novel can be “about” something else -- a perilous journey, a rebellion in the highlands, the deed to the ranch or a mystery that must be solved, but in parallel with that is the attraction and coming together of the hero and heroine. The endings are all HEA (happily ever after) or at least HFN (happy for now). This is de rigueur in romance.
Almost exclusively, the POV is that of the heroine. It’s all about how she feels, what she does, what she thinks. It’s her journey so she tells the story, usually from a third person POV. Sometimes the hero is a cipher, and the story can include the heroine’s efforts to figure him out. Mysterious alpha male figures have always intrigued female readers.
And that’s who reads spanking romances. It’s the women. I figure it to be an 85-90%  female readership.   Certainly, with a few exceptions, the authors are all female. Not so with Spanking Erotica. First, as to length, spanking erotica tends to be shorter. The reason is that it isn’t necessary to build characterization and relationships nearly as deeply, and the plots can be thinner. The story centers on the spanking – the reason for it and the actual execution of it. Here, I think the readership is divided about 65-35, men to women. (I’m leaving out readership relating to the F/M orientation. For F/M it’s nearly all male). Many authors are male and a male POV is frequently employed. In fact, it’s fairly common in spanking erotica to see a 1stperson male POV, something you’d never see in a “spanking romance.” That’s because women, the primary readers, don’t care what’s going through the guy’s head. They want to vicariously experience what the heroine feels. It’s who they identify with.
But still, there are many female readers of straight spanking erotica. As evidence I would point out that on the largest spanking story board in the world, LSF, the authorship and readership are fairly evenly divided between the sexes. (There has to be a caveat here, and that is that on a site like LSF, a great many spanking stories are not “erotica.” They are about home and school themes that may involve minors. By definition, this can’t even be published as “erotica,” because it would violate acceptable content guidelines of most booksellers.)
What I just described is the most general case. Now, I write a lot of spanking erotica and I LIKE clever plots and fleshed out characters.  In fact, my emphasis on plot and characterization is the thing that distinguishes my spanking erotica from most others. You can be the judge of that, but my aim is to tell a story. The spanking happens because of the story, not the other way around. This is the tension an author experiences in crafting stories in this genre. Authors don’t have it in spanking romance, at least to the same degree. In erotica, the question for me is: how much external story should you have? How many spanking and/or sex scenes? Do you risk boring your readers if the story takes over and shoves the spanking into the background? In a “spanking romance” this is less of a concern because it’s mostly about the relationship and the conflict anyway.
The first time I attempted a novel, it was pure spanking erotica, no romantic sub plot. (Secret Spanking Cult on Amazon; Atonementelsewhere). But it is a real story with a real plot, not just a collection of unrelated scenes like you’d find in a Will Henry book. It is, in fact, a mystery in the old hard-boiled PI genre about an invention, a missing daughter and a strange cult. Still, one reviewer said the novel was just an excuse to string together a bunch of spanking and sex scenes using multiple implements, characters, etc. Well, yeah. It’s spanking erotica, not Sam Spade with the occasional spanking of some dame. Same with The Menace from Mongo. It’s a space opera, only on Mongo various forms of flagellation are commonly used as punishment, both by good guys and bad guys. In just about every chapter there will be some sort of spanking scene.
Not so in my spanking romances. Not in every chapter. That’s because there is more story to advance and more characterization and relationship development. However, I do think that in my romances there is plenty of sex and spanking. (In Pendragon’s Lash there are something like 15 spanking scenes. The Princess and the Outlaw is comparable.) In these works I’m almost straddling the line between spanking erotica and spanking romance, but that’s where I come from, the erotic short story tradition, not the romance tradition. LaForge, personally my favorite work, starts as erotica and segues into a romance.
What all of this means is that the markets are different. Spanking romances are marketed to the romance reader crowd, i.e., women, through channels like Blushing Books, who really specializes in the genre. The covers of these books tend to have traditional romance-type covers with couples embracing and/or backgrounds that inform of the setting – castles for medieval, sailing ships for pirates, horses and cowboys for Westerns, just like traditional romance novels. You wouldn’t know that the book contains any spanking sub text unless you read the “blurb,” i.e., the product description. Women in the market for romances can stumble across these books in a general search for romance or maybe erotic romance (an Amazon subcategory) and maybe turn out to like them.
Men, on the other hand, favor plain spanking erotica. Here, the titles and the covers are designed to leave no doubt as to what is inside, like my Spanking Times Seven, or Have Paddle Will Travel. Amazon is, of course, the biggest retailer, but Apple and Barnes and Noble also sell spanking erotica (for now). Men don’t seem to be attracted to the romance side of things, probably because the books look just like Aunt Betty’s Harlequin romances, and because the story gets in the way of the action. I’ve also noticed that in romances the actual spanking scenes are not described in as much detail as in a piece of spanking erotica. I’ve seen spanking romances that only give a scene a short paragraph and then it’s over. Since in spanking erotica the spanking itself is the main point, the scenes are more fully described. I’m generalizing, of course. In some romances the scenes may go for a page or two, but mostly in the ones I’ve read they are short. However, the authors make up for that in describing the sex scenes that follow. In a weird twist you’ll often find that spanking romances include long and detailed sex scenes, the action vividly (but tastefully – no “throbbing boners”) described. In spanking erotica, the actual sex scenes can be somewhat muted.
Which market is larger, diehard spankophiles looking for hot stuff to push their buttons or romance enthusiasts who like a bit of kink? I’m convinced it’s romance, far and away. Romance, even with a strong spanking subtext is far more popular than straight spanking erotica.  I base this non-The reason may be very simple. Men are more visually oriented, so pictures and videos are their preferred form of entertainment. It’s just the way we are wired. Women respond more to the written word which stimulates imagination. I strongly suspect the male buyer pool for written word spanking erotica is not all that large, whereas women are more apt to buy lots of books.
The take away is this – if you want to be, as the Beatles say, a “paperback writer,” write romance. Otherwise, be a video producer.
Well, that’s not my forte so I’ll continue to write both. As it is, many of my books that I released as “erotica” were actually romances, and if I had it to do all over again, I would have gone through someone like my current publisher, Stormy Night, for many of them.
The romances, other than the three mentioned above are:The entire Romance of Spanking series of books, Tumalo Bend 1895, The Ladies of Heatherton Hall, Catherine’s Surrenderand surprisingly, The Spanking Games.I could probably also count Menace from Mongo because of the Flash/Dale romantic involvement.

New EBook Release -- Spanking Times Eleven

I'm happy to announce the release on the Amazon Kindle Site of my short story collection,

 Spanking Times Eleven.  Amazon US
Amazon UK

This is a consolidation and reissue of two older ebooks, The Scarlet Society and The Puritan Museum. Those two books, as it happens got caught up in the flack of censored cover art and never received proper exposure. So I have decided to republish those short stories in this edition and it's a bargain. Bought separately the two older books would cost $5.98. I'm offering the pair in one volume for $3.95. Such a deal.

There are eleven stories in the collection and they are M/F and/or F/F in orientation.

Here is an extended description:

In The Scarlet Society a woman reminisces about an odd school society, a singular honor for the girls who are chosen, but one with a forbidding and painful legacy, an ordeal which must be endured. This is very much a Southern Gothic spanking story, edgy and chilling.

It’s About Time is a time travel story with a twist. An agent must accompany his young  female partner to an earlier time, all the while posing as her uncle. They must journey to the past where she will enter a 1940’s era girls school to correct a serious problem. But being a schoolgirl in this era brings with it it’s own hazards, not the least of which is the strict disciplinary regimen. And let’s not forget her equally strict uncle.

A Gift from Great Aunt Kate is indeed an unusual gift. It appears to be but a simple painting of an old drawing room, but for the women of this family it has some mysterious properties. To fall under it’s spell can be very gratifying sexually, but that comes at a price that can leave one with a very tender derriere.

In Naughty French Maids two sorority sisters are “purchased” at a charity auction to be French maids for a day by a wealthy patron and his wife. They assume that all they have to do is clean and dust and serve at a dinner party. But things may not be what they seem

A Fairy Tale is a tale of three princesses and the sacrifice that each must make to save the kingdom from a fearsome dragon. Will they live happily ever after? Maybe, but all the same, it could be difficult to sit.

31 Hours tells the story of a hotheaded teacher, two naughty cheerleaders and a befuddled stand-in principal for a day. Boy, a lot can happen in 31 hours.

The Puritan Museum is a sinister tale of Puritans and punishments, revenge and its price.

Mission Impossible, The Lost Episode is a tale that never aired in prime time. It is a story of a spy mission gone awry thanks to a pair of American teenagers, and what sacrifices are required to mollify an ancient church bent on extracting penance for a blasphemous act.

In The Craving we find that while one obsession might be cured by the promise of punishment, unintended consequences may well take over.

After the CP Act explores what might happen if corporal punishment were ever a real option in the criminal justice system as we follow a young lady who has no choice but to elect to be punished in this manner.

Finally in Romanian Holiday, a young man chats up a lady in a bar and regales her with a harrowing tale of a mysterious country manor and its equally mysterious inhabitants---who are devotees of the lash, and perhaps much more. The lady is impressed, but may have her own agenda.

This is quite an eclectic collection with different themes, settings and plots that is sure to please the aficionado of fine spanking fiction.

The Prodigal Bride

Today I have Rayanna Jamison on board to showcase her book, The Prodigal Bride. What fascinates me about this book is that it involves DD relationships in the context of a plural marriage. So I have to think, what would that really look like? How would I as a husband manage such a domestic relationship, and how would my wives deal with it. Can a blended family in this type of social compact be happy with such an arrangement?  As you might imagine the scenario seems ripe with plot possibilities for DD enthusiasts in particular. In fact would this be the logical way to handle conflict, jealousy, negligence and all of our other human foibles in a plural marriage context? So I asked Rayanna a few questions about this.

Rayanna, how did you hit upon the idea of writing a spanking romance about a plural marriage?

I moved from the Pacific Northwest to an area that was rampant in polygamy. There are many different polygamous sects, each with very unique beliefs, and all of them within about an hour or so from where I live. One sect in particular, is very easy to spot, because of their style of dress. I see them every day, everywhere I go. I began to watch different reality shows and documentaries about the different sects. One in particular caught my interest with their unique take on marriage. This is the sect I base my books off of. I have no experience with polygamy other than that, but I have learned quite a bit about it since moving here, and feel I know more than the average person who has no real life experience with it.

Is DD a common practice in real life plural marriages?

I do not know this for a fact. In my experience within the DD community, I met a man who counseled couples in DD both online and in real life. He implied many times in different conversations that this was true, and that he knew many polygamous families that practiced Domestic Discipline. As the most prominent polygamists here keep to themselves, I have no way to be certain if this is true or not- but I believe it to be plausible.

Do you plan any more books involving plural marriages?

The Prodigal Bride is my second book in my Love Multiplied Series, and I know for sure there will be at least two more.

Great. Well, here are the book details:

Sophia Randall had no intention on returning to her home in the polygamist community she grew up when she left Hiram Jefferson just hours before their wedding. Though she cared deeply for Hiram and his family, she was young and impulsive.

Ten years, two children, and one monogamous marriage later, returning to Green Valley after the death of her husband is the only option left.

Hiram was devastated when Sophia left him at the altar. With everything already on his plate-- between his job as the district superintendent, his large family, and one sick wife, the last thing he needs is the headache of Sophia being back in town.

When his wives go behind his back and form an alliance with Sophia, what is left for him to do but show them the error of their ways with a little old fashioned discipline. But what will happen when he finds out the true reason Sophia left him in the first place?

Here is an excerpt from the book:

"If you were my wife, you would be joining her in the corner to await your punishment.

However, since you're my employee—" he dragged the last word out sarcastically, "you can just sit there and watch while you think about the spanking you have coming."

Then, he actually had the audacity to wink at her!

She met his eyes, and wondered how long he planned to draw this out. Every second felt like a full minute, and every minute felt like an hour. Couldn't he just spank someone already?

As if he read her mind, he tore his gaze from hers and turned his attention to the task at hand. Sophia watched as he carefully and methodically lowered Lucy's pale pink lounge pants to her knees, and then slowly lowered her white panties to rest just below her bottom, so as to afford her a small bit of modesty.

Embarrassed, Sophia looked away, her focus coming to rest on Lucy's face. She was shocked to see that her friend looked completely nonplussed, as if she wasn't bare bottomed across her husband's knee for an audience about to receive what promised to be a very sound spanking.

Sophia kept her gaze low, focused on Lucy's face, comforted by the calm she saw there.

Whap! Sophia squeezed her eyes tightly shut at the unnerving sound of wood against flesh. She hadn't expected it to be so loud. She knew, even though Hiram hadn't specified, that watching the punishments administered to her friends was part of her punishment. She forced her eyes open once more, willing herself to watch so as not to make it worse for anyone, herself included.

Hiram was a thorough spanker, working the spoon up and down and across Lucy's heart shaped bottom in a flurry of rapid-fire swats. No area was safe from the unforgiving path of the spoon, and soon her whole bottom was a soft pink glow that matched her lounge clothes.

Throughout this whole ordeal so far, Lucy's face had remained calm, only wincing occasionally when the spoon would strike twice in the same spot. Other than those times, she seemed completely relaxed.

Suddenly Hiram paused, jutting his left leg up, to rest on the bottom rung of the chair.

This movement caused Lucy to fall forward at such an angle that put her nearly face to face with the Oriental rug below, presenting her bottom crease to Hiram for a better angle.

It was then, Sophia noted that her friend began to look truly uncomfortable, and also a bit nervous. With a mighty crack, and a much fuller swing than he had been using previously, Hiram began to spank in earnest. Sophia watched Lucy's tender flesh flatten with each thwack of the spoon. It would bounce back up, slightly redder than before. Then, within moments Hiram would bring the spoon right back down to cover the same spot, moving his assault slightly every two or three swats, continuing until Lucy's lower bottom was covered in dark pink circles from the impact of the spoon. Lucy, whose hands were resting on the floor beneath her to keep balance, was sobbing loudly.

Sophia was sure Hiram would stop when he heard Lucy's cries, but he simply returned his leg to a flattened position with both feet on the floor and turned his attention from her bottom crease to her pink cheeks. He resumed spanking, laying a barrage of stinging swats down all across her rosy globes, until they too, were covered in dark pink circles, and Lucy was crying out her apologies and begging Hiram to stop.

Sophia was just about to cry out herself when he calmly set the spoon on the floor beside the chair and began to massage Lucy's glowing behind as he whispered to her. "Good girl, shh, you took your spanking so well. I know it's been a long time honey, but you did so well." He whispered encouraging words over and over until her sobs turned to quiet whimpers. Then he helped her to a sitting position on his lap and gently wiped her tears. She buried her head into his chest, and balancing his chin atop her head, he stroked her hair.

Sophia was mesmerized by this quiet intimacy, much more than she had been by the spanking itself. She couldn't remember a time she had felt an intimacy like that with Robert, not that her and Robert's relationship had lacked in intimacy—it hadn't. They had had a wonderful marriage and had been best friends. It just seemed different. Perhaps there was something to this spanking thing after all or maybe she was just feeling vulnerable in an unfamiliar situation.

Her train of thought was interrupted by Hiram's commanding voice. Apparently the quiet moment of comforting was over, and it was Phoebe's turn to receive her spanking. Sophia had assumed that Lucy would be joining her on the couch, but instead she crossed the room and took Phoebe's place in the corner. Standing there, she lowered her pants to rest just below her bottom, her flaming red backside on display.

Spanking Romance Reviews Hot Topics

Today I’m part of a Spanking Romance Reviews blog hop. This one is all about writing and how the styles of various writers in the blog hop have changed over the years. For other viewpoints just follow the linky list at the bottom of this post. To participate, we authors were asked six questions. Here are my answers.Do you do anything differently now than when you first began writing?Yeah. Absolutely. There has been an evolution in my writing. When I first started, what I wanted to put on paper were fantasies of mine, ideas that were burning holes in my brain to express. The style I adopted mimicked some of the classic writers of spanking fiction like Paul Little and Will Henry. Things have changed over the years. I’m now more interested in being a storyteller. The story is the thing, not just the description of lurid fantasy situations. To be sure I always include plenty of action, described as vividly as I can make it. But plot, characterization and the flow of a story matter a lot more to me now.Have you crossed any lines you thought you wouldn’t cross? Not really. I draw the line at all the usual nons, but those are self limiting because Amazon won’t allow certain subject matter to be published, and the publishing companies are self-policing too. One thing that I had not done much with, however, was anal. It never floated my boat, so I never included any anal sex scenes or figging. But now, as I am advised by others, many readers think it’s hot, so I am now including anal scenes in my romance novels.Have spankings become harsher or softer?Neither. For me it all depends on the situation. If it’s supposed to be an erotic scene, it won’t be unduly harsh. If it’s loving correction, the severity fits the crime. If it’s the bad guys dishing it out, yes, the scene is likely to take the heroine past her limits. What dictates the severity of the spanking is the same thing that dictates everything else—the story, the characters, the situation.Have you expanded your repertoire of punishments?I have. For example in historical contexts, which is where I write a lot, punishments often include flogging of various types. It can be a public birching or it can be whipping with a modified cat o’ nine tails, or something I make up. But I will say that I stick pretty much to flagellation, and primarily flagellation of the buttocks. That is where the eroticism is. Cruel torture is not, to me, erotic. I know there are BDSM writers who dream up all kinds of things, but I never found those to be arousing. How have your attitudes toward spanking changed? That’s a very interesting question. Over the years they changed because I used to be a top exclusively. Then I began to imagine experiencing spanking as a bottom, so I experimented. But by the time I began writing, I was a died-in-the-wool switch. That is reflected in my writing. I have books directed to every orientation except M/M (which holds no interest for me). I will say that when I’m in the M/F genre, especially romance, the story will usually stay there, unless it’s a humorous piece. Switching occurs frequently in my F/M stories which are usually also heavily laced with F/F scenes.Where have you taken your writing since you began?I hope I have better technique now. I’ve learned a lot from others -- writers, editors and from just reading about the craft of writing. I hope to take some courses eventually and learn how to do this the right way instead of my usual seat-of-the-pants, learn-on-the-job technique.I will say that I think I’m at the next level now. My spanking scenes were always pretty good, vivid and intense, but often my descriptions of people or places or incidents was lacking. So I feel like I’m a more complete writer now than when I started 15 years ago.

The Romance of Spanking Complete Collection

Boxed sets seem to be all the rage now in the spanko literary world. Blushing Books has a five book set, a collection of spanking romance westerns entitled The Sons of Johnny Hastings. DJ Black has a set out  HERE. Never to be one who lets the grass grow under his feet, I'm jumping into the fray with this month's offering.

The Romance of Spanking, the Complete Collection is a compilation of all four of the Romance of Spanking short story collections. Each one of these ebooks sells for either $2.99 or $3.49. However, with the Complete Collection you get all four for $5.95.  That is a savings of over 50%.

The collection includes 20 stories and clocks in at over 105,000 words. That's 223 pages (326 in the eventual print version -- yes, there will be a print version). Many of the 20 stories were originally published as multi-part stories of novelette length.

Here is the product description:

Now compiled in a single volume, Disciplinary Tales is pleased to present a collection of stories that celebrate the romance of spanking. Included within this book are all four of the Romance of Spanking ebooks, previously published in separate volumes, Volumes 1-4. These are tales of willful ladies and lusty men, couples who often find themselves on a collision course that can only result in one thing -- passionate romance and frequent bare bottom spankings. Both are in abundant supply within these pages. Here you will find knights and damsels, private I's and dames, tutors and students, pirates and captives, deputies and schoolmarms, and of course, young lovers.  There are spoiled heiresses, mischievous girlfriends, conniving career women, and courageous princesses, as well as international spies, millionaire moguls, handsome doctors and high school principals. The collection includes both contemporary and historical tales from several different eras, including medieval settings, the roaring 20's, the 1840's and the 1890's. The genres include contemporary romance, mystery, and swashbuckling adventure.

The Romance of Spanking, the Complete Collection will be released in mid July. Watch this blog for an exact release date.

Sci-Spanks Blog Hop

Well, once again they've asked me to be an ambassador. I was hoping for the Court of St. James or maybe some country with a nice villa on the Mediterranean for an embassy. But no. My ambassadorship will be a bit more limited. At least it doesn't involve hunkering down in a hot sweaty hovel somewhere in the middle east while thousands of enraged terrorists storm the gates, shake AK-47's and chant "death to America" while I wait for the Marines to arrive. (Recalling recent history, I may wait a long time).

No, this time it's the Sci-Spanks blog hop. It's all for writers who write Sci-Fi spanking romance. Now, as it turns out, I happen to be one of those, but I'm not a featured author. So, I will take this opportunity to shamelessly plug my own Sci-Fi spanking romances, The Menace from Mongo and Pendragon's Lash, featured in the side bar to your right. Again, I'm an "ambassador," which as near as I can tell, is part of the advance PR team having no State Department function whatsoever. No beachfront villa involved. However, there are prizes. Read on.

Guest Post--Cara Bristol's Newest

Cara Bristol has just released a new ebook in the hugely popular Breeder series, a sci-fi saga that blends romance, action, BDSM, dominance, submission, and of course, lots of spanking. So, since I'm still on vacation, I'll let Cara tell it her way. Just released on Amazon, the link is HERE
Terran: A sci-fi spanking romance with no regrets
By Cara Bristol
Put the right two characters together, and the story often writes itself. In Terran, a sci-fi romance, I pair a feminist Terran with an alien alpha commander who’s used to wielding absolute power. I’ll get the characters from Terran show their story:
Name: Tara Diehl (pronounced "Deal").
Race: Terran
Age: 29
Occupation: Vendor and owner of Textiles by Tara, a shop at the Terran Bazaar in the Parseon Market city.
Hair: Pink
Eyes: Green
Distinguishing characteristics: Full sleeve tattoo on right arm
Reason for coming to Parseon: Adventure and the business opportunities, of course. And to heal. She couldn't stay on Terra after what happened there.
How she sees herself: Bold, strong, honest.
When she meets the hero, he makes herMad.
Regrets: Overcharging Marlix for the fabric he purchased. She has to make it right, even if he is an arrogant, sexist ass.
Name: Marlix
Race: Parseon
Age: 35
Occupation: Alpha. One of five ruling Commanders of Parseon.
What he thinks of  Terrans: They are a repulsive race of people. He'd be happy to see every one of them return to his/her own planet.
How he sees himself: Emotionless. Not given to impulse.
When he meets the heroine, she makes himWant.
The moment that changed him: When he kidnapped Tara from the Bazaar.
Regrets: None.
Terran Excerpt
If people gawked, she did not notice. Panic blinded Tara to all but instinct as she tore through the Bazaar. Suck it up. Suck it up. Sobs of relief convulsed in her throat when her feet found their way to her shop. Perched on a counter stool eating lunch, Ramon leaped to his feet as she stumbled in.
“My God, Tara! What the hell happened?” He grabbed a bolt of flannel off its stand and threw it around her, then hugged her to his chest.
Unable to stop crying, she heaved and shuddered as Ramon rocked her and swore under his breath.
“I th-thought it w-would be o-o-okay. I only went out-outside to check.”
Ramon stiffened.
“They grabbed me,” she sobbed.
“They?”
“Th-three males.”
“Fuck,” he swore, his voice laden with concern. He did not need to say I-told-you-so to remind Tara how foolish she’d been. “We need to call Security. The Terran Embassy.”
She shook her head. “No.” The Terrans held little authority and couldn’t do anything. Parseon Security did have power but would do nothing. Nor could she endure an interrogation by males cut from the same cloth as her attackers. Parseon did not consider sexual assault a crime but rather a sport, which was why the treaty attempted to protect its female vendors by insisting they travel with an escort. By venturing into the Market alone, she had disobeyed the rules intended to protect her.
“Yes. My God, Tara, you were attacked.” He dropped his voice to a hoarse whisper. “Did they rape you?”
“No,” she lied. She squeezed her eyes shut against Ramon’s shoulder. She’d been pinned to the ground. They had sodomized her with their fingers—they just hadn’t gotten around to the rest of it, because the Commander had intervened. She recalled his growl, his shadow. The boot on her back had lifted, and her attacker had flown through the air. She’d heard a thud and a snap, and then the pounding of feet as the other two attackers had scrambled away.
Only Alpha remained. Though he’d saved her, the rage and intent to harm that enlarged his already huge body had terrified her, and she’d fled, as much from him as the attack.
“You’re bleeding,” Ramon said, and she became aware of searing pain in her legs, back, and chest. They’d cut her when they had sliced at her clothing and had pummeled her with their fists and feet. “You need medical attention. I’m calling Security.”
“No!” came a gravelly shout.
Ramon started, but Tara did not. Hadn’t she known all along he would follow her?
“I will handle this.” There was no mistaking the threat in the gaze the Alpha cast upon Ramon. “Leave us.”
A brave Ramon shook his head. “No, I’m staying.”
Aggression shimmered off the Commander in waves. Ramon was wiry but little match for most men on Terra, let alone an Alpha. She had little doubt how he would fare in a confrontation. Again, she pictured her attacker sailing through the air as if the Commander had thrown a stuffed toy and not a live adult male.
She opened her mouth to reassure her shop mate she would be okay, but before she could speak, the Commander yanked her out of Ramon’s protective embrace and slung her over his shoulder. The Alpha stalked out of her shop into the Bazaar.
She could hear Ramon yelling.
Shock and fear paralyzed her. Hard sinew and bone shifted beneath her abdomen as the Commander carried her as if her weight posed no burden. She stared at the moving ground. His arm across her thighs immobilized her legs. The flannel with which Ramon had covered her trussed her arms. Tara found her voice. “Let me go! Where are you taking me?” Had he saved her only to rape her himself? Along with amusement and derision, there’d been lust in his eyes during their fabric transaction.
The Commander ignored her.
Tara worked her arms free of the flannel and punched at his legs. “Put me down, now!”
He growled and struck her ass hard three times.
She hit him again.
He retaliated.
For every blow she landed against him, he tripled with his own.
“Help! Somebody, please help,” she screamed, knowing it was in vain. Not a single person had come to her rescue during the attack by the betas, and no one would oppose an Alpha. Parseons would not, and though shock registered on the faces of her fellow vendors, the Commander moved too swiftly for them to do anything—if they had dared. Her fear rising, Tara began to cry.
Before she knew it, they had exited the Bazaar, left the Market, and boarded the sky tram.
Terran blurb:
After fleeing heartache on Terra, Tara Diehl has adjusted to male-dominated Parseon better than most vendors until she is kidnapped by Alpha Marlix, a ruling commander. At first her tall, muscled abductor terrifies her, especially when he doesn’t hesitate to quell her struggle for freedom with some force. When her attempts to escape fail, she decides to seduce her way to freedom.
But out of seduction and subterfuge grow a true intimacy that cause Marlix and Tara to take action that drives Parseon to the brink of civil war, threatening not only their relationship, but also their lives.
Terran, the second book in the Breeder sci-fi series, is a “capture” romance involving a domineering but hunky alien, a female with a bad dye job and an even worse attitude, hot sex, and spanking. It can be read as a stand-alone.

Ebook Release--Spanking Times Seven

Spanking Times Seven, a new ebook release is now available on Amazon. The US and UK links are HERE and THERE.

Here is the product description:
This volume is a collection of seven scintillating spanking stories featuring primarily an M/F orientation. The collection's length is just shy of 30,000 words.

In "Beverly Hills Wife Swap," an actress with a gambling problem and up to her ears in debt is offered a way out. Appear in a new type of reality TV show offered by an adult cable network for a handsome fee. But there are strings attached. What makes this show unique is the actress and must obey all the household rules set by the other couple-or suffer some unexpected and unusual consequences for breaking them.

In "The CAT" an attractive burglar sneaks into a high security condo to steal a valuable manuscript. Is she the notorious CAT, the professional cat burglar terrorizing the city? What will happen to her if she's caught? Certain parties may wish to keep the theft under wraps, but that does not mean that some rough justice is not in order.

"A Very Nice Living Arrangement" introduces Jack, a landlord with three lovely boarders, who incidentally think Jack is pretty hot. But when they encounter trouble adhering to their own house rules, they hit upon a solution reminiscent of their old sorority house days. The trouble now is, they now need an enforcer to keep things honest. "Oh, Jack, could you come here for a second?"

"Kingsbridge 1337" is a slice-of-life tale from the fourteenth century. A chicken has been stolen, and Tom Constable must find the culprits and mete out justice. His tools are a single thong whip and a stout switch. If the culprits are the lovely Gwynnie and her niece Elspeth, as he suspects, the whole town will turn out to witness their punishment.

In "The Hitchhiker" we meet Tansy Jackson, daughter of "Big Jim" Jackson, Texas billionaire. Big Jim has a problem. He must keep his daughter out of harm's way while he completes a delicate deal of dubious legality. So what does she do? Runs off, of course, hitchhiking down the highway. Fortunately, she is able to snag a ride from a handsome cowboy in a red pickup. But once her savior learns of her disobedience, will he take it upon himself to teach her the error of her ways?

In "Speak of the Devil," three girlfriends fib to their boyfriends in order to attend a private party for a rock star idol. But this rock star is not all he appears to be, and when the girls are caught and forced to participate in a satanic ritual, it will be up to the boyfriends to mount a rescue-and deal with their girlfriends' lies in the aftermath.

"Spring Break Breakdown" showcases a new method of enforcing the law in beach towns when unruly spring breakers come to town. And for two cuties who want to show how hot they are with illegal thong bikinis, a get-out-of-jail card requires participation in a public beach demonstration of the new method.

The Writer's Tip 'O the Day

A good many stories are told in dialog between the characters. Dialog is good. It lends an immediacy to the story and makes the characters live. One of the greatest writers of dialog in American fiction is Elmore Leonard. Take a look at the snappy dialog of Get Shorty or Rum Punch. But there can be a problem with dialog too. Consider the following:

"Get the paddle."

"You wouldn't dare."

"Try me."

"You can't. I'll go home to mother."

"You'll do nothing of the kind."

I see a lot of this. It's an extreme example, but what we have here are talking heads. There is no word picture that is being painted. The reader has to imagine what the characters look like and what they are doing.

Here is the revised version.

Bob pointed at the closet door. "Get the paddle."

Mary put her hands on her hips and stamped her foot petulantly. "You wouldn't dare."

"Try Me." Now Mary was worried. The determined look on his face said it all. He advanced toward her.

"I'll go home to mother." She started backing up and clapped her hands to her seat in that seemingly universal response of naughty children.

Bob seized her wrist and opened the closet door. Taking the paddle from its hook, he sat on the bed and flipped her across his knees. "You'll do nothing of the kind."

The point here is that if you write a lot of dialog, if you tell the story primarily through dialog, add description so the reader sees what you want them to see. Otherwise, it's just talking heads.
