Release day festivities.
Tomorrow is release day for One Night In Chicago! I have a few fun things planned for the day:
You can join the Facebook release day party from 10am – 3pm EST. We’ll be chatting, playing games, and I’ll be giving away prizes, including two copies of the book and for one lucky winner, a $25 Amazon gift card! Facebook parties are pretty relaxed, so don’t worry, you don’t have to hang out the whole time–just stop by whenever you like and participate! You also don’t have to stick around to be a winner.
I’ll also be on Red River Radio tomorrow afternoon, talking about my new release along with other City Nights authors. The show starts at 4pm EST and my spot will be at 5:30 to wrap up the show.
Come help me celebrate this special day!

I have a series!
I’ve never had a series published before, so I wanted to see my book covers side by side, now that I actually have a ‘book one’ and ‘book two.’
(Click the covers for more info!)
Book three will come along in May 2016…and there will possibly be a fourth. I intended this to be a trilogy when I started writing, but after completing the third book I realized I need at least one more to wrap up the story completely. Books never behave the way you want them to…

The Bloody City cover reveal!
Here it is, folks, the cover for the sequel to The Wicked City. The Bloody City will be released on November 10, 2015 and you can pre-order it now!
On the run…
It’s been four months since the head of the Institute of Supernatural Research was murdered. But that doesn’t mean June Coffin is out of hiding yet. In a world where being different can get you killed, it’s best to keep a low profile. Especially for a Siren who can control other people with the call of her voice. That goes double if your powers might be inexplicably growing…
On the hunt…
But June isn’t the only one trying to clear her name. There’s Sam, the charismatic paranormal rights leader, and Micha, the first human on record to go paranormal. All of them must bargain with a mysterious vampire named Occam Reed if they want to stay alive.
Out of time…
As tensions increase between humans and paranormals, June must decide who to trust. If only she could hear the song inside her heart…

Get a little sex in the city.
On May 27th, my novella One Night In Chicago will be released from Tirgearr Publishing! Part of the City Nights series, where each novella in the series takes place in a 24 hour time period in a city anywhere in the world (the stories are stand alone, so you don’t need to read all of them to enjoy just one). Each book in the series is erotic romance–ooh la la! And the covers are gorgeous. Do go check them out!
To celebrate, I’m having a Facebook party on release day and giving away prizes, including two copies of One Night In Chicago, and for one lucky winner, a $25 Amazon gift card! The party will go on most of the day and we’ll be playing various fun games and chatting, so you don’t have to stick around the whole time–just pop in and say hi and you could win a prize!
If you’d like to come to the party, you can find it here.
And if you’d like to pre-order the novella from your favorite online retailer, you can do that too:
One Night In Chicago
Part of the City Nights series.
City Nights is a unique erotic romance series with authors contributing stand-alone stories to the collection. Each book title starts One Night in . . . and takes place within a 24 hour time frame in a city somewhere in the world.
Breaking up is hard to do, especially after four years together.
Taylor Middleton, a singer striving for her big break, and her boyfriend Malcolm Darling, a mover and shaker in the music business, have decided to call it quits. Taylor wants to take her onstage persona—Gracie M—to LA, where she hopes bright lights and big dreams await.
But before they break up, the two decide to spend one last night in Chicago, the city where they once shared a passionate, romantic weekend, in hopes of preserving some good memories. In Chicago, Taylor realizes she’s not so sure about taking her talents elsewhere, as Malcolm reminds her why she fell in love—and lust—with him. Taylor may soon discover the right man, like music, can set her free and make all her dreams come true.
Available for presale at:
Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Smashwords | Kobo | iTunes
Hope to see you at the party!

The state of the blog.
Alas, I’ve decided to throw in the towel on the NaBloPoMo challenge. Not only is it not really holding my interest, it’s taking too much time I don’t have. I guess, fresh off the A to Z Challenge, I felt like I could blog forrrreeeever! Turns out I need a break. So this will now just become a regular blog and I’ll try to update about two to three times a week. If the A to Z Challenge gave me anything, it was the will to be a regular blogger. I really do enjoy blogging now and talking with the people who stop by to visit!
I will leave the old NaBloPoMo posts up so you can still browse through all the silly pictures I posted.
I do have an upcoming release on May 27, which I’ll get more into in my next blog post. I will also (hopefully) be doing a cover reveal for my next book sometime this month, which will be released on November 10th. Yay for upcoming things!
And now, back to less hectic programming. Here is a picture of my cat sunning herself on my pink rug to ease the pain.
Life is good on a pink rug.

Up close and personal.
During the month of May I’m doing the NaBloPoMo challenge–blogging every day of the month on the theme of photos.
Today’s prompt: Do you ever secretly snap pictures without the subject knowing? Tell us about a secret shot you’ve taken.
Photo: Close
I don’t take secret shots of anyone because it’s at the least unkind and at worst an invasion of privacy. I think there’s a difference between ‘secret’ and ‘candid,’ too. Taking a picture of someone blowing out their birthday candles is a candid shot, taking a picture of someone walking down the street talking on their phone is secret (I’m looking at you, paparazzi). I don’t believe in taking pictures of people without their knowledge. Of course, going to a concert or show and taking a picture of a performer is different, as they probably expect there’s going to be cameras in the crowd. However, I’m very much against taking pictures of other people without their knowledge (or without them being in a situation where they would reasonably expect to be photographed) and I hope other people extend me the same courtesy. Unfortunately, there’s entire sectors of the entertainment industry wrapped up in this behavior.
As for the photo prompt, here’s a super close up picture of my cat. She was born with a permanently dilated pupil, thus her wonky eye:
I SEE YOU.

My trilogy.
During the month of May I’m doing the NaBloPoMo challenge–blogging every day of the month on the theme of photos.
Today’s prompt: Photo: Three
My biggest accomplishment in the past couple years was signing a three-book deal with Kensington Books for my Siren Song urban fantasy series. When I originally signed the contract, I fully planned on making the series a trilogy and stopping there. Now that I’ve actually written the entirety of the three books, I’ve discovered the series needs at least another book to wrap it up. So much for that! My creativity never seems to play by the rules I try to set up for it. I really wanted to wrap up the series with a nice tidy bow on book three but the story would have none of it. It’s okay though, because I love the world I created and I’m happy to play around in it some more. I just hope my publisher feels the same!
Book One:
Book two comes out November 10, 2015–just in time for the holidays! I have the cover but it hasn’t been officially ‘released’ yet, so I can’t show it off. The third book comes out in May 2016.
And as for the fourth? We’ll find out…

Let there be light!
During the month of May I’m doing the NaBloPoMo challenge–blogging every day of the month on the theme of photos.
Today’s prompt: Photo: Light
I have a big thing about light–my apartment is lit in a particular way, with ambient and decorative light throughout each room (even the bathroom). I love natural light and big windows that let it in. My favorite kind of light is morning light. I want a place someday that faces east instead of west so it comes pouring in every morning! Light is one of my favorite things and I have to have my living space full of it, in just the right way.
Morning light over Chicago–my favorite light in my favorite city.
Morning light over Jackson Square in New Orleans–my second favorite city!
My beautiful star string lights in my bedroom.

Focus.
During the month of May I’m doing the NaBloPoMo challenge–blogging every day of the month on the theme of photos.
Today’s prompt: Do you think you smile more honestly when you’re taking a selfie or when someone else is photographing you?
Photo: Focus
I probably smile more genuinely when someone else is taking a picture of me, because that means I’m somewhere having a good time. Selfies can be very posed and forced to make them look good–not that my smile isn’t genuine, but it’s put on for the camera! I love a good candid photograph of someone smiling or laughing. I’m always taken by surprise when I see a picture like that of myself. Wow, I was having so much fun!
Puppies are good for making smiles.
Focus in a picture is like focus in life: if it’s sharp enough, the result can be breathtaking. I have a big focus in my life, making a career for myself as a writer. It’s a driving force. Sometimes it’s hard to focus because there’s too many distractions around you. I’m learning to blur out the distractions every day.
Don’t get distracted!
