Book Launch in Manitou
The book launch in Manitou, Manitoba was an unmitigated success! There were approximately 140 people there, and we sold out of books (we had 150 copies on hand) in about 30 minutes. Kind words were spoken, I read a couple of extracts, and several interesting questions were asked. All in all, it was a great night!
And, as with any great night, there are people who need to to be recognised! In particular, I’d like to thank the Manitou Regional Library Committee, whose efforts were spearheaded by Sharon Fehr and her directors; Wes Hamm and his incredible trio of musicians who provided the music; Al Thorleifson and Richard Klassen for introducing me and my book; Curtis Lowton for having the last word; my sisters Tracy Sanders and Julie Shirtliff for going above and beyond the call of duty; Rose and Greg Sanders who sat at the book table; my immediate and extended family who always support me; Gary Young for donating his sound system for the night; Vanessa Kalyn for bringing the poster-sized cover art; and everyone who came from near and far for this event. And I mustn’t forget John (the Film Studies Guy) who brought me tea and cake, and drove me to Manitou from London. Thanks, everyone, for sharing this moment with me!
