Close Encounter
We were playing in the back yard when Henry had something unexpected happen...
Good thing he's a good eater and was too heavy for them to beam him away. Phew. That was a close encounter.

Learn Your Lesson?
Nova has something to learn.
If you insist on picking on someone bigger than you...
...pestering them...
...or annoying them...
...or bugging them...
...something bad is bound to happen.
Hercules fatting on Nova...I think she's sorry now.Learn your lesson yet, Nova?

An Old Horse
Stoney will never admit it, but it's challenging being an old horse. There's the constant eating, little kids always wanting a ride or people wanting to give him treats and scratches on the nose, needy Dancer always hanging around, and the frequent need for naps. It's a rough life for sure.

Naive
Jack sometimes teases me about how naive I am--I'm not exactly a shut-in but some things that he's exposed to on a daily basis are shocking to me. However, one thing I'm determined not to be naive about is just where our food comes from. The kids have helped plant the garden, tap the maple trees, pick and peel apples, forage for wild raspberries, pick cherries, pick grapes, pick strawberries...needless to say, they know how food is grown. But, plants are only part of our diet. A friend t...

Strawberry Cream Cheese French Toast
One thing I love about going back to Nebraska is trying some of the recipes my sister has cooked up. Jenny has good taste in food and always makes enough to feed a crowd. This is one recipe I brought back and was eager to try out, now that maple syrup season is in full swing. This can be prepared in the crockpot or oven, halved, or baked in two separate pans if you want to freeze and save one for later. Regardless, it's delicious!Ingredients:
French Toast 12 slices white, home style cut bread,...
