Stop Expecting the Government to Save Us from Our Financial Woes
I agree 101% that corrupt government officials should be held accountable for what they've done, and for what they're continuing to do. But after the fuss, and the mess, and the hullabaloo, we are still 100% responsible for our finances, and not our government.

Start Building Your Emergency Fund
Or, God forbid, your company retrenched you because you're so good at what you're doing, a real guru. Hence, you're also paid a high salary so your management has decided to hire 2-3 good people, not experts, to do the work you're doing.

Why Financial Literacy Should be Taught in Schools
People usually equate financial wealth to their jobs, careers, or to their salaries. After all, a lawyer earns more than a messenger, a computer programmer earns more than a secretary, a corrupt senator earns more than everybody else, combined. You get the picture.

Not All Debts are Created Equal
Getting a home loan to purchase a house is good debt. Why? It's a good debt because you don't want to rent an apartment all your life. Why? The answer is simple. There will come a time when you can no longer work and won't be able to afford any more rental payments.

Get Life Insurance Coverage
Isn't it funny that the law requires people to insure their cars but not the owners of the cars? I know that for some people, their car is more precious than their wife, but is their car more precious than their life? I highly doubt that. Unless you're a hermit and do not have anybody precious to you, then you should get yourself some life insurance. If you're single, of course the beneficiary will most certainly be your parents or siblings. Later on, once you get married, you can add your spouse and kids as beneficiaries.

Stop Using Credit Cards
I use my debit card, or money which I already possess, for online transactions, such as paying for this domain name, hosting, online donations, etc. I use my debit card for groceries. Like most people who were fresh out of college and earning for the first time, I've been fooled into getting a credit card. Lo and behold in a span of just a few months, I've maxed it out. This was back in 2002, ever since then, never did I use a credit card for consumables.
