A Woman’s Highest CALLING
Do you know what you are called to do in life? As women, we live in an unprecedented time. A time where feminine energy, intuition and vision is rewarded greatly; these rewards will only increase with the changing scope of our economy and the growth of global communities. Yes, it is a great time to be a woman; we have more choice and freedom than ever before.
But this freedom is not free. “To whom much is given, much is required.” Do you know the highest calling on your life? To live a life outside of our calling is no life at all. We were all born with a unique blueprint on our souls, placed there by the Creator to fulfill our destiny. But, without a CORE foundation of certainty, many of us are lost, drifting, wondering, “What’s next?” or “What’s it all for?”
This story below by Eric Butterworth so beautifully illustrates the highest calling on a woman’s life. What can a woman give that moves mountains, changes destiny and impacts the lives of all who come into her presence? Read on…
Unlikely Success
A college professor had his sociology class go into the Baltimore slums to get case histories of 200 young boys. They were asked to write an evaluation of each boy’s future. In every case the students wrote, “He hasn’t got a chance.” Twenty-five years later another sociology professor came across the earlier study. He had his students follow up on the project to see what had happened to these boys. With the exception of 20 boys who had moved away or died, the students learned that 176 of the remaining 180 had achieved extraordinary success as lawyers, doctors and businessmen.
The professor was astounded and decided to pursue the matter further. Fortunately, all the men were in the area and he was able to ask each one, “How do you account for your success?” in each case the reply came with STRONG feeling, “There was a teacher.”
The teacher was still alive, so the professor sought her out and asked the old, but still alert lady what magic formula she had used to pull these boys out of the slums into successful achievement. The teacher’s eyes sparkled and her lips broke into a gentle smile. “It’s really very simple,” she said. “I loved those boys.”
Love is everything, the rest is details.
Staying connected to God and love is our highest and often, hardest calling. It’s easy to get caught up in the trappings of a self-centered life. Bogged down and burdened by the “smaller stories” of setbacks within our own lives. But there is always a need outside of us. Our world is crying, collectively the tears of heart-ache, loss, and disillusion. A woman’s love is a powerful force; it can change families, communities and forge empires. A woman’s love can heal the sick, lead the lost and restore the broken.
If love in this world is irrelevant then I am irrelevant.” – Jason Reeves
Love returns us to truth.
Never let this world discount your value. Your heart is rare, tender and remarkable. The pain you have suffered is not in vain, it is for a purpose greater than your heart may be able to conceive. When you make walking in love your highest calling, you become rich beyond measure. New life, opportunities and goodness will pursue you daily. The high calling transforms pain into purpose, tears into tenderness, hurt into healing, rejection into forgiveness and dysfunction into clarity.
Spread love everywhere you go: first of all in your own house. Give love to your children, to your wife or husband, to a next door neighbor…Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God’s kindness; kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile, kindness in your warm greeting.” – Mother Theresa
I am with you on this journey towards personal growth, new life, wisdom and healthier relationships.
Much Love,
Shannon

Are YOU a Career Woman or a CALLED Woman?
Everybody has a calling and your real job in life is to figure out as soon as possible what that is, who you were meant to be, and begin to honor that in the best way possible for yourself.”― Oprah Winfrey
I agree with Oprah, everyone is called. Fewer people say yes to the call. Many people have a myth that the calling is what you “do.” It’s not. The calling is who you ARE. Rejecting the calling is rejecting self. Others believe the myth that the calling is about being famous or standing on a stage in the public eye. Not necessarily.
The calling is the whisper within; it may call you back home to care for your children, or to new heights of fame and fortune.
Only you know and can honor that whisper of the calling within your soul.
Career vs. Calling is a matter of the heart
One of the greatest determiners of if you’re in your career or calling is your answer to these three simple questions:
1. Are you showing up in your authentic truth?
Is the work you do a true reflection of the woman you are?
Can someone easily be trained to replace you? (Nobody can replace you in your calling, it’s unique, it’s who you are.)
Some women are fortunate enough to have their career be their calling. The core difference is within the heart. We know when we are settling; living less than we desire. Nothing on this earth compares to the happiness, soul-ease and joy that comes from walking in purpose and saying yes to the calling.
Working for LOVE or for the money?
“Career is what you’re paid for, the calling is what you’re made of.” – Steve Harvey
I believe in working for others, it is often the best training ground in preparation for our destiny. God uses all our past experiences to launch us successfully into purpose. However, we must be careful not to become pimped out for a paycheck. When we change our truth, compromise our values or our authentic voice all for money, we hurt our personal integrity and damage our confidence.
Money follows power. The calling is power. When you have a job you earn a living, when you flow in your calling you receive one.
No competition in the calling…
Power, beauty and calm radiate from the Called Woman; she is no longer driven to prove her worth, she has embraced it.
Corporate America can foster a competitive environment and many women are unfortunately caught up in this fear-based world of competition and comparison. But a Called Woman is at ease within her soul because she finds no need or reason to compete. A Called Woman knows no one else can take her place or be trained to take her position or role, the calling is unique, like a fingerprint, you are the only one with that specific gift to bring into this world.
A Called Woman stands in a category alone, she cannot be duplicated because nobody has her exact story, passion, or pain…all of these help cultivate the calling.
Settling vs. Saying YES…
The definition of settling is: lying to ourselves. At its core, settling simply means somewhere along the way we gave up on the life we truly desired and adjusted to the one we had.
When we settle, we diminish in confidence and self-worth, because we betray our own hearts. When we say, yes to the calling, we reclaim our worthiness. We don’t need to DO MORE to prove our worth. We simply need to accept the beauty of who we already are. We are already enough…
When we decide to stop running, shrinking, hiding, stalling, procrastinating and resisting God’s greater purpose and plan for our lives, life gets easier, better.
Our souls finally exhale and experience relief through the beauty of surrendering to the greater and higher plan for our lives.
I believe in you. I believe in the calling on your life. The time is now.
The woman is you. Walk worthy of your calling.

When the Hustle no Longer Satisfies…. The NEW Call of a Woman’s Heart.
I had a talk with a dear friend recently, and she is a “POWER Player,” a woman at the top of her game. My friend shared with me that she was up for a major promotion, one that would literally catapult her career to an entirely new level, but as she spoke, I heard it, the subtle disconnection and dullness in her voice as she talked about this new opportunity. So I asked her, “Is this what you really want?” She paused and said: Not really. I’m thinking about the LONG hours I’ll have to work and I’ve already paid my hustle dues. I honestly long for simplicity in my life; I want to create something I love and make money by my own rules, I have nothing left to prove.
Many women feel the same as my friend. We want MORE and yet we desire LESS. More freedom, more love, more passion, more abundance, less stress, less struggle, less hustle…. We are being called to “still waters” to restore our souls to purpose, dignity and new strength.
SOUL Reflection Questions:
Have you been so busy doing for others that you’ve forgotten what was important to you?
Have you been so focused on the hustle that you’ve neglected the woman you were called to be ?
Are you living a life of truth and prosperity from your being or are you caught up in the rat race of striving and proving?
Our hearts are leading us into new territory…
In her feminine design, a woman needs times of freedom and rest. We need time to reflect, nest and create. We need time to nurture our soul and our surroundings. Many of us have neglected a core part of our feminine being as we’ve submitted to the old masculine system of “hustle, work, strive, achieve, hustle work, strive, achieve.” But the NEW Call is leading us to look within and be honest about what we truly desire…
Are You Driven or Are You Called?
Our sense of worth can become falsely connected to the public accolades and esteem we receive from outer roles, power positions and titles. Yet the calling creates a lasting legacy, authentic success anchored by love. Gratefully, I am no longer driven, I am called. Through my calling, I’ve created a lifestyle of beauty, ease, wealth and soul-level abundance. I let God lead.
When Sleeping women wake mountains move. –Chinese Proverb
There is a voice calling us to wake up ladies, the tide is shifting, the season has changed. The new call will dare you to look within and honor the truth. Listen. Pay attention. Your heart is calling…

Are You DRIVEN to Distraction? 5 Things that Rob You of Time and Hinder Your Destiny
We are a society driven to distraction; internet surfing, celebrity gossip, social media addiction, cell-phones and texts that alert us 24/7. We wake up surfing and go to bed scrolling. We’re doing more, but accomplishing less, so what is this distraction costing us?
How valuable is YOUR time?
It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.- Steve Jobs
I had the profound and life-altering experience of witnessing my beloved father take his final breath on this earth. When you witness someone you love leave this expression of life, time becomes real, as does your own mortality.
My dad wrestled in those final nights with one thing…incomplete work. You see my father had been working on a book, and he had not finished it. As I witnessed the pancreatic cancer waste his frail body away, his spirit and determination grew stronger. Each morning he would gather all the strength he could to rise at 5AM and request his computer to write, faced with his final days on earth, my dad desired nothing more to finish the work he felt called to…
Lost time is never found again.- Benjamin Franklin
Have you allowed distractions, a lack of discipline and focus to deter you from fulfilling your destiny?
Below are some of the most common time thieves and distractions to our destiny:
1. Wrong Relationships- The greatest hindrance to joy, peace and destiny will always be found in the realm of relationships. Relationships are not neutral; they are either destiny or distraction. Fulfilling God’s assignment for our lives begins with first taking inventory of our relationships. In order to make room for the right relationships, we must be willing to re-frame or limit our time with the ones that are no longer connected to our highest destiny.
2. Lack of goals/focus: When we do not have a CLEAR focus, clear priorities and goals, we do not set proper boundaries with people. Interruptions and other people’s needs rob our time, focus and attention.
3. Lack of morning or self-care routine: Take time every day, preferably in the morning to get your thoughts right. Align yourself with God within. Flow in agreement with His truth. The time invested in soul-care (prayer/reading/meditation) and self-care (exercise/deep breathing) in the mornings, saves time throughout the day, because when we are clear, we experience greater focus and tend to make better decisions.
4. The WRONG job- We spend half of our lives at work, and if we are not fulfilled or happy at work, dissatisfaction will follow us home. Ask yourself, are you really willing to give 5 or 10 more years of time to a job that you hate? When you are in a soul-killing career, the quickest way to reclaim your time is to change your environment
5. Social Media - I once took a client who claimed she didn’t “have time” to finish her book through her personal Facebook feed, she and I discovered that after adding up all her posts and comments to people regarding her posts, she could have written 3 books! Be mindful that “scrolling and surfing” isn’t robbing you of the focus needed to fulfill your calling.
Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, and no procrastination: never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.- Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield
NOW is all we have. Take life-inventory TODAY. Reclaim mastery over your life and your relationship with time. Release distractions and receive greater clarity and wisdom for your life. As I reflect on my precious father and his profound desire to his leave a legacy on this earth, I vow today once more to value and esteem my time.
I want to live daily knowing that I have honored God and my calling through the way I use the time. Reclaim YOUR time. Focus. And remember: Distractions SCREAM, but the calling whispers…
Blessings and Much Love,
Shannon

2015 – The Year Of The CALLED Woman
It’s a New Season. The time for playing it safe is over! Everything has changed going into 2015! Can you feel it? Do you know intuitively that the inner-struggle, the denial of your authentic self is over? Do you feel your heart and soul crying out for MORE? More Life, freedom, abundance and LOVE?
2015 is the year of the CALLED woman! No more painful resisting and ignoring the person you’ve always known you were destined to be…There is no joy, no freedom, no abundance that quite compares to walking in your God-inspired calling.
Are you settling for less than your God-given destiny?
“If God gives you something you can do, why in God’s name wouldn’t you do it?”
― Stephen King
Are you fulfilled in your work?
Do you wake up excited each day?
Are you clinging to something that no longer supports your soul’s truth?
Settling is accepting and embracing a lie we’ve told ourselves, and that won’t work in 2015! This is a year for unprecedented personal growth, boldness, spiritual beauty and wealth. This level of life is accomplished when we stop running, slow down and surrender to that still small voice within leading us to our highest destiny. Saying yes requires surrender. Surrendering to God, is surrendering to greatness and love.
Will you say yes to the calling?
Will you stop running and hiding from yourself?
Will you look to God within and allow His spirit to accomplish through you the greater VISION for your life?
The Profound PAIN of Resistance…
True happiness… is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
Helen Keller
Resisting and running from the calling diminishes our soul. It stunts our spiritual growth. It makes us shrink and live less than God created us to be. The calling is God’s unique design for our lives. Resisting the calling creates unhappiness, restlessness and chronic self-rejection. Resisting the calling produces suffering, saying yes to the calling, re-aligns us with Divine joy.
Humility is required to answer the call
Humility is God-centered, not self-centered. The humble person is sober about their limitations, yet confident in their Divine Source for limitless power. God accomplishes vision through the surrendered heart. Humility does not resist the calling through fear public opinion, rejection or even the fear of failure. The TRUE success of the “called life” is not determined by public-acceptance, but by God’s acceptance.
Say yes to yourself and God within.
“I believe there’s a calling for all of us. I know that every human being has value and purpose. The real work of our lives is to become aware. And awakened. To answer the call.”
― Oprah Winfrey
When we say “yes” to our calling, we tap into our soul-level genius. We align with our true potential and tap into the power to birth our desires. It hurts too much to fight who you are. Relief comes quickly when we position ourselves in surrender to the truth. When we stop running from our own hearts, we get into FLOW with God; the struggle and striving ends. We move peacefully, with ease in sync with the heightened spiritual abilities of a called life.
It’s time to…
Release resistance.
Receive the calling.
Move now.
Manifest your destiny.
2015 Is the Year of the CALLED Woman. Come back home to yourself and your truth. Rise. The world is waiting on you to make your debut. #Called
Blessings and much love,
Shannon
P.S. – Please share your comments/struggles in the notes below regarding saying “YES” to your calling.

The REBIRTH of You
“What the caterpillar calls the end of the world the master calls a butterfly.”
- Richard Bach
The quote above by Richard Bach is profound and very dear to my heart. Are you feeling a shift in your heart, soul and mind?
We are in a new season. And many of us are feeling the joy of rebirth. In order to experience rebirth, we must let go of anything that no longer serves us on the road to destiny, growth and abundance.
When we find the courage to release the old, we are perfectly positioned to receive the new. We often pray for new things, and yet old mentalities, beliefs, habits and thoughts are still running the show.
Rebirthing is serious business. We enter a spiritual version of the caterpillar’s process as it yields to the metamorphosis of becoming the butterfly.
When caterpillars are in their original form, they are pre-occupied with two things, eating and survival. Caterpillars are very vulnerable to predators, limited in movement, and honestly, not the most attractive creatures in the world.
When caterpillars enter the process of chrysalis, they become their pre-destined design, the beautiful butterfly. During rebirth we learn that rather than resisting change, it is yielding to the process of becoming the woman God created us to be, that we ensure our successful beauty and flight on the other side of the pain.
Think about nature’s rebirthing chamber (the cocoon) it’s dark, lonely, and uncomfortable. Much like the caterpillar when we are experiencing rebirth we may feel hidden, small, powerless and afraid. Life may feel uncertain, and yet this season of change is necessary for new, abundant life.
“The phoenix must burn to emerge.”
― Janet Fitch
“New wine” cannot fit into “old wine” skins. God remakes us from within, so that our lives will outwardly reflect the magnificence of our rebirth. It seems counter-intuitive that we must die in order to live, that we must release in order to receive. But when we rise from the ashes of past pain like the mystical Phoenix bird we are empowered with a core strength and confidence that only a woman who has participated in her own rebirth possesses.
Rebirth means we let go of what is good in order to receive what is excellent.
During rebirth, we decide to rise above the limitations of or our past. We wipe the dust from our feet…
“When a woman rises up in glory, her energy is magnetic and her sense of possibility contagious.”
― Marianne Williamson
People may never know how many nights we cried ourselves to sleep, how many days we doubted God, doubted our purpose, doubted love and doubted ourselves. And yet, we have confirmed our worthiness through the process of rising, reawakening and reclaiming the power of our own wholeness through unity with God.
I heard a wise woman state a not too long ago: “People may never understand the pain you endured privately in order to show up publicly in your success.”
Honestly, we’ve more paid our suffering dues! We deserve every ounce of happiness and freedom that is manifesting right now in our lives! Mark my words, 2015 is going to be a landmark year for the reawakened woman. So smile my sister, rejoice, and unapologetically celebrate the REBIRTH of you.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, gratitude is authentic power and I am so very grateful for YOU!
Much Love,
Shannon

When Sleeping Women Wake, Mountains Move.
“When Sleeping Women Wake, Mountains Move.”
– Chinese proverb
I remember the pain of forgetting myself. You see, I fell asleep in my own life. In my “dark night of the soul” I experienced a painful disconnect from myself, call it depression, call it sorrow, I now call it forgetting the truth. It was a moment of soul-sleep that turned into days of delusional, half-thinking. It was a moment that turned into months of self-suffering, blame, bitterness and powerlessness. In the midst of it all, the help, the deliverance, the rescue I was waiting on, was only found within.
I alone, had the power to rise and reclaim what was rightfully mine by birthright: power, peace, love and a sound mind.
Many of us have fallen asleep in our own lives, but there is a gentle voice within lovingly urging us to wake up. The time is now. Women are rising and remembering the truth of who we are called to be.
Women are waking up, rising and reclaiming our power, dignity and strength.
As women, we may drift from the truth of our own hearts, disconnect from our own approval, self-love, and acceptance. We may seek the world to validate something God has already settled….we are already whole, complete and lacking nothing. We are already worthy.
When we fall asleep to our own glory, we take our soul-level questions to men: “Am I lovable? Am I special? Am I enough?” We burden them with the weight of remembering who we are for us. We may even desperately turn our gaze to “fixing” them because we have neglected to acknowledge and heal ourselves.
Our men will remember our beauty, when we remember. Our men will remember that we are precious and special when we wake up and remember it ourselves. Relationships mirror back to us our wounds and our worth. Our men merely reflect back to us what we already believe and accept as truth.
When we fall asleep in our own lives, we may find ourselves lost in careers that are misaligned the desires of our hearts. We lose ourselves tending to another person’s vineyard, while neglecting our own vineyard; our unique purpose, passion and calling.
It takes power and conviction to rise up and choose you!
When I healed my life all those years ago, I found the courage to remember who I already was…worthy. I woke up and remembered that my life had value. The temporary pain, distractions and drama could never extinguish the higher calling on my life. By faith, I emerged whole.
It takes confidence and conviction to live a life that is an authentic reflection of our soul-level desires.
It takes faith to follow our gut-level intuition, to listen and act upon the voice within our hearts crying out for more.
Women have the ability to birth life, and to birth great vision. We also have the power to participate in our own rebirth, to rise and reclaim what old disappointments, past set-backs, loss, grief and broken promises tried to strip away.
Women are rising.
We are waking up from the lies and confusion of a society that has forgotten how to love. We are waking up from a limiting, fear-based religious model that found hate and judgment easier than love and acceptance.
We are waking up from the false burden we placed on ourselves to perform, please and prove rather than to simply be.
We are waking up and healing our relationship with ourselves, refusing to carry the burden of self-hatred, false-guilt and low-self-worth.
Women are rising and reclaiming our birthrights to freedom, meaningful life, love and joy.
We are remembering that we are here on this earth to give love and to be made whole and complete by receiving love.
We are moving into a new season of sisterhood, remembering that each time a woman rises from her soul-sleep, a mountain of fear, doubt, lack, loneliness, poverty, limitation and shame moves out of the way.
Ladies first...Our men, our children, our communities will heal once we do.
It’s worth repeating: “When Sleeping Women Wake, Mountains Move.”
Wake up my sister to the miracle of your own life, remember who you are and watch mountains move.
I’m so grateful to be waking up with you!
Love,
Shannon
