Disappointment

Its been a while since Ive blogged.  I was one of the lucky recipients of that super flu that spread through Chicago last week and was dead to the world for a good five days.  However, this month certainly hasn't been roses and sunshine for me anyway so I haven't really had much motivation to be on social media outlets and such.   The world of Independent Publishing is an interesting beast.  Having only been in this world about a year, there are plenty of stumbling blocks along the way that you

Did @Bookbzz Buzz off? #WheresConrad #Prizewriter

As an independent author, you spend a lot of time and effort trying to get your book marketed. So, typically when contests come along, independent authors tend to submit the stories, so as to help generate some buzz for their books and get people to review/critique their work.  For me, the reviews and critiques are always the draw for me, because I'm always looking to become a better/stronger writer.   You may have seen the tweets/facebook posts/ general appeals from me over the past month, as I

How @Hozier 's #TakeMeToChurch inspired #SecretsOfTheHeart

As I began writing Ivy's story, Hozier's Take Me To Church was just beginning its ascent up the charts-  it was not nearly as popular as it is now, and required some YouTubing in order to find the song because there was one line that kept repeating in my head over and over again as I wrote Ivy's story.   "I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife"   While this song - as per Hozier - is a song about love, this line specifically reminded me of Ivy's relationship with her father Lucas.

Serendipity thoughts on #SecretsoftheHeart

If you've read my back of book junk for my second book, you'll know that Secrets of the Heart has been a huge question mark in my head.  Will people like it?  Will it be received well?  To whom should I market it? I went around and around with my team of beta readers and my editor because there is so much that happens in Secrets of the Heart that it isn't really a true "Romance" and I'm discovering that it isn't being received by the New Adult crowd all that well since my characters are past
