:

THREE DUET BOOKS NAMED FINALISTS FOR BI BOOK AWARDS

Congratulations to authors Julia Ember, F.T. Lukens, and Carrie Pack for being named finalists for the sixth annual Bisexual Book Awards!

F.T. Lukens’ THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MEDIATING MYTHS & MAGIC was nominated in two categories: Speculative Fiction and Teen/Young Adult Fiction. The comic fantasy of a teenage boy who gets an internship hiding the world of myths and legends from the human world was also the recent recipient of an IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award and is a finalist for a Foreword INDIES Book of the Year Award for Young Adult fiction.

Joining it among the Speculative Fiction nominees is Julia Embers’ THE SEAFARER’S KISS, a feminist reimagining of The Little Mermaid that also draws on Nordic folk tales. A companion book, THE NAVIGATOR’S TOUCH, will be released by Duet Books in September.

Also named a finalist in Teen/Young Adult Fiction is Carrie Pack’s GRRRLS ON THE SIDE, a coming of age story set in the Riot Grrrl movement of the mid 1990s. The book has also been named a Foreword INDIES finalist for Young Adult fiction.

The Bisexual Books Awards is sponsored by the Bi Writers Association (BWA), the foremost voice promoting bisexual books, bi writers, bisexual writing and bi-themed arts and culture in America. BWA works to dispel myths and stereotypes about bisexuality and promotes bi visibility. BWA has organized readings, panels, a summit, film programs, educational workshops and in-service trainings.

Rainbow Trends: Let’s talk about … falling in love with a rock star:

Broken Records by Lilah Suzanne

Start reading now because: What’s a guy to do when he meets the reigning king of country? Fall hard and fast, even though he really doesn’t want to! Nico has been styling celebrities for years, and his hard work is paying off, he has clients galore and a reputation for being the best. But when bisexual Grady Dawson enters his life and offers him a job right when he’s beginning to feel burnt out, Nico is convinced to give styling this one particular country rock star a chance. Though these two shouldn’t work, their relationship is effortless, filled with a push-and-pull that Lilah Suzanne does beautifully. Quick-moving prose and some delightful characterization make this one a must-read for rock-star-romance lovers!

— FOREWORD Reviews

A deadline, a list, and a friendship that challenges the meaning of true love…

High school seniors Cady LaBrie and Cooper Murphy have yet to set one toe out of line—they’ve never stayed out all night or snuck into a movie, never gotten drunk or gone skinny-dipping. But they have each other, forty-eight hours before graduation, and a Weekend Bucket List.

There’s a lot riding on this one weekend, especially since Cady and Cooper have yet to admit, much less resolve, their confounding feelings for one another—feelings that prove even more difficult to discern when genial high school dropout Eli Stanley joins their epic adventure. But as the trio ticks through their bucket list, the questions they face shift toward something new: Must friendship play second fiddle to romance? Or can it be the ultimate prize?
