Postcard Flash Fiction: Emshwiller Collection
David Michael Newstead | The Philosophy of Shaving
Edmund Emsh Emshwiller was an American science fiction artist born in Michigan in 1925. He was married to the science fiction author, Carol Emshwiller, and was primarily known for his far out book covers, pulp illustrations, and film techniques. And because of his decades-long career, the volume of his artwork online now seems endless and infinitely creative. That’s why months ago, when I bought a pack of sci-fi postcards it was possible for all of them to be Emshwiller works, which is how this series came about. I would pick a random postcard from the pile and attempt to write a flash fiction story or scene no matter how whacky the source material was. And I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with the results.
