Glad tidings
Seasons greetings, everyone. Just before Christmas I was delighted to learn that Crossing is among six books shortlisted in the children’s category for the 2016 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature. These prizes are awarded every two years to writers from across the country. I’m especially pleased to be recognised in my home town, and also to see three wonderful Omnibus Books titles in the running.
The winner will be announced at Adelaide Writers’ Week on 27 February. Good luck to all!
You can see the full shortlist in all categories here.

And the winners are…
On Monday I flew to Sydney to attend the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards presentation, where I was awarded the Patricia Wrightson prize for children’s literature jointly with Tamsin Janu and her novel, Figgy in the World. It was an amazing night at the historic Mitchell Library. I’m so honoured to receive the prize, and so proud to share it with another wonderful Omnibus Books author.

Crossing shortlisted for NSW Premier’s Literary Awards
I’m thrilled that Crossing has been shortlisted for the Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children’s Literature in the 2015 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. It’s in good company with four very fine books – see the full shortlist here.
The judges have described Crossing as ‘poignant’ and ‘compelling’ and call it a ‘mesmerising story [that] raises many questions about families and values, rules and ethics, and, especially, about trust and freedom.’
Good luck to everyone on the shortlist!

Congratulations to all, and best of luck to the shortlisted authors (go Tamsin)!
