Gemini Book Cover

Well here it is, the cover for my new series Gemini. I had great input from a lot of people and I hope I made the right changes. Let me know what you think. I think the first book will be out around mid August and then every 2-3 week per book after that.

Gemini Book Cover – Good?, Bad?

???Well I’m finally getting close to releasing my 5 book series called Gemini. It is a story about a very naive alien race that wonders if there is a planet orbiting opposite to them on the other side of their sun. When they find out the answer it almost destroys them.

Here is the book cover for the first book, and each subsequent book will have the same background but will have II of V, III of V etc.

At lease respond to the poll, but I’d love some feedback.

FYI the yellow symbol is the Astrological symbol for Gemini. :>

eBook – Price vs. page count (Does size matter?)

When eBook readers consider buying an eBook do you look at the page count? Does the Amazon estimate of 200 pages make a $4.99 book more attractive or does a 90 page count for $4.99 seem like too much money?

I guess I’m really asking does size matter?

What to name an evil insect?

Great inputs. I particularly like the thought of making the king of the insects a female. In my stories I’ve focused on world building and characters that don’t fit the classic mold. One of my series SIMPOC is about how the “Evil Computer” becomes evil. In this story I have strong female characters and instead of a typical insect population that speaks with hard sounds, these insects speak with a melodic voice.

Some of the current insect characters have names like Irrrm, and Romaa. The current insect king was called just Supreme, but one of my book reviewers said that reminded her of ‘bacon and cheese’. Right now I’m leaning towards something like VanMacca which is a variation of some of your suggestions.

I’m going through the last edit so when I decide on the name I’ll publish it here and let you guys know what it is.

Thanks

Book pricing?

Got a questions for my hordes of readers! ;>

My first book SIMPOC was listed at 99 cents and the purchases were moderate. The second book in the series “SIMPOC – Human Remnants” will be out by the end of July. I’m debating about the price for the two books. Should I price the second one at $2.99, should I change the price of the first book to $2.99? Should the second one be $.99 also?

There is a large debate among authors regarding ebook pricing. Should I price my books at $.99 to get a following or does that cheapen the book and thus attract readers who aren’t interested?

For any of you that bought my first book, was it worth $.99 or would you have been satisfied if it was $2.99.?

I have another series called Gemini which is 5 books long and I’m sure I’ll have the same pricing concerns as that release date approaches in early August.

Insect Leader Name

To clarify, this insect is a male. Although it’s interesting how much that applies to an alien insect species.  In my first drafts I called it “The Supreme” and my reviewer said it reminded her of cheese and bacon. :>)

Need help for a character name.

I need some help. I have a 5 book series called Gemini starting release probably late July or early August. The book has an aggressive insect species and I need a good name for the leader.

One of my reviewers thinks the character needs a better name and I agree. Please give me suggestions on a name for the leader of an insect planet who is a very aggressive military leader. My only point is, the insect language is melodic.???

Life of an author

I have my next series Gemini in the hands of a number of authors who are graciously giving it one more look-at. I’m pleased to say that the early returns are great; far better than I expected, but I have noticed a humorous trend which many author’s can relate to.

Three of the reviews have such different opinions. Reviewer one, is very positive, loves the back-story, the second reviewer is also saying good things but he wants the action to be sooner and to put the back-story later in the book, the third reviewer likes the book but has suggested that I take one paragraph of the back-story and expand it into two chapters.

How can an author reconcile each of the comments? I guess the good news is that, being the author, I can ignore them, try to satisfy them, take a little from each of them and try to improve the book, or just do what I want.

Interesting, and fun, dilemma.
